I never saw this Best Picture Oscar winner at the theater. It just didn't seem like the type of movie I would enjoy. I was right.
Ralph Finnes is some sort of English map maker that falls in love with a married Kristen Scott Thomas. The story of their WWII romance is told in flashbacks to a French nurse (Genevieve something-or-other who won an Oscar as supporting actress) caring for Ralph in an Italian villa after he's been burned to a crisp in an accident while flying a dead Kristen home. Oops! Did I give away the ending? Not really. You see the ending in the first ten minutes of the film.
I found the entire affair to be ponderously dull. Even the exotic locales didn't liven up the proceedings.
Listen to me: Yawn.
