Episode 5348

Friday, July 4, 2008

First, and most important, our show was featured on the E! network.  I love me some of The Soup show each week.  The Soup had a special feature highlighting drunken escapades on television.  The exact quote was “You know you’re an alcoholic when you drink alone or you watch The Bold and the Beautiful!”  Joel McHale, the host, admitted he did both.  The Soup then proceeded to show Taylor’s battle with the bottle when she poured the vodka in her coffee.  I have never been so proud.

Second, they have finally updated the opening billboard.  Poor, pitiful, yet hunky Storm has been dead for over three months and he was still getting credit at the opening of each show.  But Storm and Clarke are out.  Marcus, Steffy, Beth, and Owen are in.  Nothing stays the same.

Upstairs at the Marone Manse, Brooke stopped back in to see Katie.  She wanted to apologize for questioning her about her feelings for Nick.  Brooke thought she should really be talking to Nick about the matter.  Katie suggested Brooke keep her questions to herself.  She had spoken with Nick and made it clear any feelings she had for him would be put away and filed under “keep until Bridget’s wedding and then blurt it out for maximum dramatic affect.”  Katie wanted Bridget to be happy.  She and Nick had agreed to make that happen.  When Brooke got ready to leave, Katie suggested she use the “back way.”  Bridget and Nick needed some time alone.  (And since the only set in the entire mansion is that silly living room, you’d better not be traipsing through it during an intense conversation.)

Downstairs, Bridget was arguing over the phone with some insurance company about covering a prescription cost.  (How topical!)  But all sense of the real world vanished when Nick returned with several bouquets of flowers.  He took the phone and told the person on the other line to give up; Bridget would win in the end and he wanted to propose to her.  Bridget was stunned when Nick asked her to marry him.  She worried it might be a reaction to everything that had been happening or it was a reaction to Katie’s feelings for him.  Bridget didn’t think they were ready to get married.  Nick thought they were ready.  They’d been down this road before and now was the right time.  Katie had made him see how special Bridget actually was to him.  They had worked out their problems the first time they had been married.  Finally, Bridget agreed to marry Nick.  As they kissed to celebrate, Katie stood at the top of the stairs and watched.  She sure looked glum.  (Hey, sister!  How about giving them that privacy you mentioned earlier?)

Meanwhile, on Donna’s Roof Top Lounge, Marcus returned and found Owen conversing with a couple of bikini clad young women.  Marcus chased the staff away and told Owen he didn’t want him hanging around.  Owen asked…

“What’s this about, bro?”  Marcus replied with…

The Quote of the Day:  “I’m not your bro.”  (Well, maybe we’ll find out Owen is yet another child Donna gave up for adoption and then he really would be your bro.)

Donna showed up and Owen was instantly impressed with her beauty and good luck in marrying rich.  Donna walked over and Owen introduced himself as the person who had made it possible for Marcus to find her.  Marcus was miffed.  He needed a signature from Donna to accept an expensive shipment of silk.  Donna signed and Marcus left.  (Why would you leave your new mom with this character?)  Donna thanked Owen for helping her son find her.  Owen agreed he was due some thanks…in fact, Donna owed him big time.  Donna just smiled a vacant smile.

All the while, Felicia and Ashley were sipping iced tea on Donna’s Roof Top Lounge, discussing putting the kibosh on Eric’s idea for a new fragrance called LaDonna, and watching the drama unfold with Owen.  Felicia was very interested in what this new stud had to do with Marcus and Donna.

Felicia, pounce on him right this minute.  Believe, I’m seen him naked on Days of Our Lives.  He’s hot.  You’ll thank me for it PLUS you’ll get a storyline.  Please, please, please give Felicia a storyline.
