While standing in Stephanie's living room, Amber remembered her mother's words and decided to take her advice and lie about her knowledge of Becky's where abouts and motive for taking Little Eric. Amber produced a "note" that said Becky had decided to go to Furnace Creek to say good bye to her parents. Becky had not wanted to interrupt Stephanie and Brooke in the den so she took Little Eric with her. (I'm wondering when Amber had the time to write the letter. At first I thought it was just a blank piece of paper she was holding but Brooke grabbed it from Amber's hand and inspected it.)
Everyone was livid Becky would do something like that. "I told you not to leave her alone with the baby." Amber said. "She's not the most responsible person." Brooke was quick to point out that Amber thought Becky would be perfect for the Forrester International job - she was good enough for the company, but not to watch her own cousin's baby. That didn't make any sense to Brooke.
Amber said that Becky would return with Little Eric in the morning. Couldn't they just drop the entire matter? Stephanie and Brooke were equally perplexed by the entire matter as Rick and Amber returned home to the guest house. Rick exploded at his wife. He pulled away as she tried to embrace him. He wanted to drive to Furnace Creek immediately and give Becky a piece of his mind. Amber convinced him that action would only make matters worse.
Alone on the porch Amber asked God to bring Little Eric back soon and prayed that Becky was taking goo care of him.
No such luck, girlfriend. Becky's seedy motel is quite spacious for
$27 a night! There are two tables and plenty of room to spread out. It also
seems the establishment is near an airport. You can hear the sound of planes
flying over. Could that be a clue for someone to find them? Becky told her
son she would keep Amber away from him forever. Amber was only "protecting
her gravy train" by keeping Becky away from Little Eric. She knew that
Rick would dump Amber if he knew he wasn't Little Eric's father. Becky celebrated
her good fortune by popping open another beer and turning on the television.
Trailer trash slob that she truly is, Becky let the bottle cap fall to the
floor. Becky placed the baby on a makeshift crib on the floor. She then
hit the bed herself and apparently passed out from her second beer - light
weight! Little Eric wasn't sleepy, though. He seemed interested in the shiny
bottle cap and reached for it. (Horrors!)
At the hospital Dr. Wilson told Ridge and Jack that Taylor was not doing well. They had isolated the bacteria causing her illness and could treat it with the proper antibiotics. The doctor told them the babies' lungs were still not developed as much as they would like but each passing hour without medication worsened Taylor's chances for survival.
Ridge stomped into the isolation room and told Taylor she had done a
wonderful job of taking care of the twins but they had to induce labor and
take the babies now. Taylor was too weak to even cough (or do her hair or
apply mascara for that matter). Ridge told her she had given her body and
her soul for the children but he would not allow her to give her life. Ridge
held a mirror up for Taylor to look at herself. She was pretty shaken up
by her gaunt appearance. (I think Hunter Tylo was just shocked to see how
bad the make up department had made her look.) As hard as he tried, Ridge
just couldn't muster up any tears as he begged Taylor to consider Thomas
and him. Although Taylor agreed she was taking a chance with her own life,
she still refused to take the necessary medications.
And the Martyr of the Year Award goes to . Taylor Hamilton Hayes Forrester.
A new day dawned on the guest house. Amber sat and looked longingly at photos of her once happy family. Rick entered from the bedroom and started to call Becky's parents. Amber stopped him by saying she had tried to call while he was in the shower and got no answer. She hurried him out the door so he wouldn't be late for his first official day of work at Forrester Creations. (What? Rick is working now? Since when?)
After Rick left, Tawny arrived. She promised Amber she would bring Little Eric home that very day. Tawny told her daughter to get a grip on herself. She had a plan. Tawny called the police and pretended to be Becky. As her niece, she reported her '59 Rambler was stolen. She gave the police lieutenant Becky's license plate number and driver's license number. (Where the heck did she get that information? Perhaps she called Dionne Warwick's Psychic Hotline from the comfort of her lovely mobile home.) Tawny was confident the police would find Becky's car and call Tawny to say where it was. Amber would then know Becky's secret location.
Amber felt she was being punished for her misdeeds. She said she'd make a deal with God. If He would bring Little Eric back safely to her, she would tell Rick the truth. Amber knew it would probably bring an end to her marriage, but that was a price worth paying to have "her" son back.
In his office Eric was very upset to learn from Brooke that Becky had
left Los Angeles with Little Eric. He stated she would not hold on to the
Forrester International position if she missed her plane to Paris. Out of
the blue, Eric told Brooke he had considered her idea to hire Kimberly as
a spokesperson for their new clothing line. Brooke and Eric discussed that
putting Rick and Kimberly in close working quarters would put a strain on
Rick's marriage to Amber. Brooke liked that idea. "Amber tricked our
son into marrying him and she'll pay for it sooner or later. I vote for
sooner." (That's the Brooke I know and love.) Eric regretted admitting
that he wished Rick had not been the father of Amber's baby.
Brooke left the office and Kimberly arrived to talk to Eric as his request.
Eric explained the new Forrester "Princess" line. It is "an
entire line designed exclusively for young people." He told Kimberly
they wanted her to be the spokes model for the new line. He told her they
had been
working on this line of clothing for a long time. (That's
funny. This is the first I've heard of it.) Kimberly was shocked and didn't
think she had what it would take to be a model. Eric read her reviews from
her modeling at the last Forrester fashion show. They included phrases like
"brilliant debut" and "passion for modeling." (Why do
I find it ludicrous that there would be reviews of a teenage model that
wore one gown in a tacky fashion show? Perhaps because it is so ludicrous?)
Kimberly thanked Eric for his offer but told him she would be too busy with
her new college schedule to take the position. Just then Rick walked into
Eric's office. Kimberly seemed surprised to learn that Rick was interning
at Forrester and would be working there when not attending classes at the
university. Kimberly had a sudden change of heart and decided to take the
modeling job after all. (Gee, I wonder what made her change her mind?) Rick
congratulated her on her new modeling gig with a big hug. (Oh, that must
be it.)
Back at that seedy motel Becky left Little Eric alone while she went
out to buy breakfast. She returned with doughnuts for them to share and
found the baby blue in the face. She picked him up and heard him choking.
(Actually, she picked up a very fake looking doll wrapped in a blue blanket.)
In a panic she called 911 and explained to the dispatcher her baby was choking.
The medic told her how to strike the doll's (I mean baby's) back five times
between the shoulder blades. Becky followed the directions and that beer
bottle cap came flying out of Little Eric's wind pipe like a rocket. She
was relieved he was breathing again, but embarrassed to admit to the emergency
dispatcher what had been choking her baby. She thanked him for his help
and hung up. Becky held Little Eric tight and cried that she had almost
killed him.
In Eric's office, Kimberly looked at a high school graduation photo of Rick. (Wasn't she in Sally's office last week looking at graduation photos? Get a life, girl.) Rick entered and she told him she remembered when the photograph was taken.
"Me to. It was high school graduation. We were seniors." Rick replied. Well, duh! It's a graduation photo, so everyone assumes it was your graduation. And since it was graduation, I think it's a safe bet to assume you were seniors. That is usually who graduates, isn't it? How stupid must poor Jacob Young (Rick) have felt to have said such an insipid line?
Kimberly asked Rick how he felt about her working at Forrester Creations.
He told her he
thought it was fantastic. Kimberly admitted
she wasn't going to take the position at first because she's studying pre-med
at college (pre-med? I didn't realize Kimberly was such a brain). When she
found out Rick was also working at Forrester she jumped at the chance. She
felt it might be the only time they would get to spend together since he
had to take care of his son. At the mention of Little Eric, Rick turned
serious. He told Kimberly about Becky taking his son to Furnace Creek. Rick
told Kimberly that he couldn't shake the feeling Amber was at fault for
the baby's disappearance. As they left the office Kimberly wondered aloud
what Amber might be up to?
Rick and Kimberly met Eric in the Forrester photography studio where
Eric introduced them to Giovanni Lorenzano. He is a new fashion photographer
at Forrester. Eric told Giovanni that Kimberly had "
a very rare
and special talent" and that he wanted the photographer to bring it
out on film. Giovanni complimented Kimberly on her beauty and guessed her
to be in her
twenties. He then assumed Rick was a young teenager
and treated him like an office boy. (Not too obvious what we're setting
up here is it?) Giovanni prepared to take some test shots of Kimberly and
asked Rick to leave. Rick didn't seem too happy about the situation.
Giovanni looks an awful lot like Franco Kelly who was recently killed in Salem just before he was getting ready to marry Sami Brady so he would not get deported. Oh, wait, that's Days of Our Lives. Giovanni must be Franco's identical twin brother. Let's hope he's not evil.
At the guest house, Amber was pessimistic about the chances of ever
locating Becky and Little Eric. When Eric called to inquire of Becky's where
abouts, Amber lied but told her mother she would have to tell the truth.
"We're out of time and out of lies." she cried. She was headed
out the door to tell Stephanie the horrible truth (she rightfully assumed
Stephanie would be the Forrester least likely to kill her when she admitted
the baby switch) when the police called to say they had located Becky's
car at the Fly Away Motel on La Seneca. Tawny told the lieutenant she didn't
want to press charges but he said they had to arrest the felon. Tawny told
Amber she'd hurry to the motel and be back with the baby. Amber told her
mother to go home to Furnace Creek. She was going to bring Little Eric home
herself. Tawny worried that putting Becky and Amber in the same room might
result in them killing each other. Amber said they just might do that.
Becky decided she needed to provide a better life for her baby than the Fly Away Motel. She packed up everything and opened the door to see two policemen looking at her car. She shut the door, but they knocked and asked if she was driving the car. She told them it was her car, but they said it had been reported stolen. She provided proof of her identification and they apologized for the mistake. Becky realized Amber had reported her car as stolen to track her down. "It was Amber. She and that evil mother of hers. I swear that cousin of mine is the devil." She changed Little Eric and again headed out the door only to run smack dab into Amber!
"Give him to me." Amber yelled.
Becky retreated into the motel room and said "Over my dead body." Amber followed and slammed the door so hard the framed room rate sign flew off the back of the door. It seemed to startle Adrienne Frantz (Amber), but she kept right on going. She's a pro!
"You gave him away. I want him back right now." Amber screamed. "Whatever it takes, that baby is going home with me." Cat fight! Cat fight!

The Bold and the Beuatiful was not broadcast today due to CBS coverage of the U.S. Open Tennis Tournament. I'll be back on Tuesday to tell you what happened at the Fly Away Motel.
The new Forrester photographer, Giovanni, shot some sweet pics of Kimberly.
After the first round of photos, Kimberly exclaimed "That was fun.
I never worked with someone like you before." Before? To the best of
our knowledge she had never modeled for a photographer - unless you count
that time she went to the Galleria and had some Glamour Shots taken to apply
for the last Forrester fashion show.
Giovanni told Kimberly he liked the innocence of her last photos, but
he wanted sex appeal in the next batch of shots. There was a mannequin in
the studio and he told her to use the dummy and "feel the heat."
"Look at the lens and make love to it. Pretend it's your boyfriend."
Giovanni urged. Kimberly looked as sexy as a bowl of moldy Jell-O. She was
stiff and uncomfortable. The more Giovanni urged her to be sexy the more
cold fish-like she became. She finally stopped the photo shoot and told
Giovanni she couldn't do it.
Giovanni guessed that Rick Forrester was her problem. He told Kimberly it was obvious she was hung up on Rick when the three of them had been introduced. She admitted she loved Rick but he was married and had a son. Giovanni told Kimberly to talk about it because he could tell it was "ripping her apart." Gio said she would get over Rick when she found someone to replace him. Rick was a fool in Giovanni's opinion because Rick couldn't give her what she needed.
Rick went home to the guest house and found it empty. CJ came for a visit and Rick told him the story Amber had concocted of Becky taking Little Eric to Furnace Creek. Rick was concerned that Becky and the baby were no where to be found. CJ tried to comfort Rick but finally suggested there must be something more going on than Amber was admitting. CJ reminded Rick of how Amber bolted from the restaurant whwn they were having dinner with CJ and Kimberly when she heard Becky had showed up for an unexpected visit. CJ hypothesized Amber saw Becky as a major threat. Rick replied that it didn't make any sense but CJ insisted there was more to this story than meets the eye.
For some unknown reason Brooke and Thorne were chatting in Stephanie's
living room. Thorne let Brooke know that he had been informed of Becky's
baby snatching stunt. Brooke related here suspicions that Amber was behind
Becky's strange behavior. Brooke told Thorne she was determined to learn
the truth and save her son from his marriage. By the by, Thorne had the
cutest new haircut. It was adorable.
Back at the Fly Away Motel the room rate sign that had flown off the door when Amber slammed it last episode was securely back in place. Amber suggested she and Becky simply forget about the whole disappearance and Little Eric could just go home. Becky nixed that idea and told Amber she was going to pay for what she had done. Becky told her cousin she would prove the baby was not Amber's and tell all the Forrester family. Amber told Becky that would surely ruin both their lives. Becky informed Amber that she had already ruined Becky's life.
"You are the devil, Amber Moore, and you deserve to burn in hell and I'm going to put you there." Becky threatened. Becky rehashed the entire story. She reminded Amber how she (Becky) had come to Amber looking for comfort after giving her baby away and how Amber had treated her like "crap." Becky told Amber how she had figured out why Amber wanted Becky to get the job in Paris to get rid of her. Becky screamed that Amber wanted Little Eric back so bad because Rick would surely dump her if he found out the baby was not his. "Rick loves the baby. He doesn't love you." taunted Becky.
Becky proclaimed she was going to make Amber suffer just as she had suffered. It was all over.
Becky was not finished unloading all her anger on Amber. Becky insisted that Little Eric was her son. Amber begged to differ and demanded that Becky return the baby to her that very minute. Amber reminded Becky that she had intended to give her baby up for adoption. Amber did not snatch Little Eric from Becky's arms. The baby was on his way to social services when Sarah brought him to Tawny's trailer.
"The truth is, cousin, your baby is better off with me." Amber
stated. Becky insisted she knew how to take care of a baby. Amber agreed
that Becky had changed for the better but she didn't know squat about raising
children. Amber reminded Becky that she took Little Eric away without his
car seat and without diapers, food or any provisions. Becky frowned as she
remembered Little Eric swallowing the beer bottle cap and nearly choking
to death.
Amber told Becky she had to put her own feelings aside and do what was best for the baby. Amber said she didn't tell Becky that Little Eric was her son because she knew Becky would have to give him up all over again when she realized the baby had a better life with Amber than Becky could provide. Amber told Becky what a wonderful, supportive family the Forresters were and what a great life Little Eric would have being a part of that family. Amber said she would sacrifice anything for Little Eric because she wanted what was best for him.
"Sometimes love means letting go." Amber philosophized. Yeah, and sometimes love means never having to say you're sorry. And happiness is a warm puppy. And a stitch in time saves nine.
Amber begged Becky to let Little Eric go home to Rick.
At the guest house, Brooke arrived as Rick was looking for a note from
Amber. He was going crazy wondering what had happened to his wife and son.
He didn't know if he should be scared or furious. Brooke told her son his
life would never be happy until Amber and her wacky family were gone for
good. She called them "dangerous people" who engaged in "reckless
behavior." Brooke told Rick he deserved peace and happiness. Brooke
then blamed herself for Rick's troubles. She was the one who brought Amber
into the family in the first place. Rick told his mother no one was to blame.
He only wanted his son back.
It was nice to see that Katherine Kelly Lang's right arm was cast free today. She must be a fast healer.
Giovanni took some more snap shots of Kimberly in the Forrester photography
studio. Gio guessed that Rick had broken Kimberly's heart because he could
see sadness and anger in her eyes. Kimberly told him she wasn't angry because
Rick was only doing what he thought was best for his son. Giovanni told
her she had a right to be angry. She was a princess and deserved to be treated
like one. Kimberly changed into a Vera Wang knock-off gown. Giovanni told
her to imagine she was Cinderella at the ball. Kimberly's face lit up when
she imagined Rick in a cheap, rental tuxedo behind the camera. Kimberly
imagined Rick sat beside her and nuzzled her neck. Kimberly was in ecstasy
and almost slid off the bench! (OK, not really, but wouldn't it have been
hilarious if she had toppled over backward thinking about Rick giving her
a hickey?) Giovanni was impressed with how sexy Kimberly could become when
she got in the mood. "They may not be able to make all the dresses
you are going to sell." he complimented.
"You're sizzling, bella, very hot." Oh Puh-leeze. She was tepid at best. I'm sure Kimberly is a lovely girl and very photogenic. I just find it difficult to believe a seasoned photographer would go absolutely ape shit over this teen from Nantucket. Is the obvious Giovanni/Kimberly/Rick triangle becoming clearer every day?

In Eric's office Brooke told her ex-husband that she held Amber accountable
for Becky's actions. Brooke noticed now panicked Amber was when she learned
of Becky's disappearance. Brooke was sure Amber was up to something. Eric
told Brooke to have faith that everything would work out. He also asked
if her crusade against Amber's family would really help Rick. Brooke said
Amber was a menace and she wasn't to be trusted. Rick could have such a
wonderful life with Kimberly Brooke added. "Rick deserves to be happy.
Rick deserves Kimberly."
Kimberly showed up (without combing her hair) at the guest house with
coffee for Rick. (As if she couldn't have brewed some when she got there.
She must have picked up some fancy-schmancy coffee at Insomnia.) Rick blamed
himself for not throwing Becky out a long time ago. Kimberly offered support.
Rick told Kimberly that his mother suspected Amber knew why Becky had really
left with Little Eric. Rick said he was going to put Becky on the Paris-bound
plane whether she had a job or not. He didn't want Becky anywhere near his
son again. Kimberly started to leave because she felt she was upsetting
Rick. He told her he didn't want to be alone. Rick felt guilty for believing
Brooke's theories about Amber. Kimberly told him not to beat himself up.
She worried too because she didn't know how much more of this he would be
able to handle. Rick tenderly took Kimberly's hand. (And they never did
drink the coffee.)
Becky told Amber not to try and talk her out of keeping Little Eric.
Sob.
Becky threatened to call the police and report Amber and Sarah.
Cry.
Amber told her cousin to be brave and send him home where he belonged.
Wail.
Becky thought the best thing for her son would be to live with his real
mother.
Sob.
Amber reminded Becky of a promise they made as children - to give their
kids a better life.
Sniffle.
Amber told Becky that Little Eric's future was in her hands.
Cry.
Amber told Becky how hard it was to grow up in a trailer with a single mother.
Boo-hoo.
Becky told Amber she didn't realize what giving her baby up again would
do to her.
Cry.
Amber said she did understand. She loved the baby with all her heart.
Sob.
Amber wanted to give Little Eric a good life.
Wail.
"Let me raise him as my own. Let me do that for him. Let me do that
for you."
Sniffle.
Becky blubbered good-bye to her son.
Cry.
Becky handed the baby to Amber and begged her to leave before she changed
her mind.
Boo-hoo.
Amber thanked her cousin profusely and left with Little Eric.
Hysterical crying.
Becky collapsed onto the cheap bedspread in tears.

The Bold and the Beuatiful was not broadcast today due to CBS coverage of the U.S. Open Tennis Tournament. I'll be back on Monday to mop up that flood of tears.
Episode Date: Monday, September 13, 1999
OK, I just thinking about something here. If Becky is such a hick and has never been out of Furnace Creek before (as we are told several times in today's episode), I'll just bet she doesn't have a passport. In real time she got the job at Forrester International yesterday and is supposed to leave for Paris today. It is not possible to get a passport that quickly. And how exactly is she going to work in Paris? Has she obtained a work visa? They just don't let anybody fly into France and start working for the heck of it. I was just thinking.
Thorne and Eric gazed at a laptop computer and discussed the new web site (yeah, right) in Eric's office. Megan, the all purpose secretary, entered and handed Becky's plane tickets to Eric. Eric expressed doubts that Becky would even show up for her flight. Thorne worried that his father had been influenced by Brooke's conspiracy theories about the Moore clan. Eric said he was beginning to think Brooke might have a point in her suspicions about Amber and Becky. Eric decided to take the airline tickets to Stephanie's house. If Becky was not there to claim them, he would give the job to someone else. Horrors!
Amber returned home to guest house with Little Eric in tow. She found
a note from Rick saying he was at the main house. Before Amber could let
Rick know their son was home Tawny called to find out what had happened.
Amber explained that Becky had returned Little Eric. Tawny insisted that
Amber make sure Becky got on the plane to Paris. Amber told her mother she
was sure Becky would want to leave town. As Amber chatted with her mother,
Brooke walked into the guest house as quiet as a church mouse and eavesdropped
on Amber's conversation. Fortunately, Amber didn't give away any totally
incriminating secrets before she saw Brooke behind her. Amber hung up the
phone and Brooke demanded to know what dirty little secret Amber and Tawny
were keeping from the Forrester family. Amber played it cool and told Brooke
she had driven to Furnace Creek to retrieve Little Eric and Becky would
return at any minute to leave for Paris. Brooke was dubious. Amber left
Little Eric in Grandma Brooke's care while she went to tell Rick his son
was home.
In Stephanie's guest room, Steph and Rick inspected Becky's baggage.
It did indeed look as if
she intended to head for Paris. Rick was
upset that his son had not been returned. Stephanie tried to comfort him.
She had faith that Becky would return with Little Eric and then go off to
Paris. Amber arrived and told her fib of driving to Furnace Creek to bring
Little Eric home. Rick was grateful but both he and Stephanie wondered where
Becky was. Amber was confident Becky would arrive at any moment but secretly
thought to herself she had to keep Becky away from the Forresters before
she boarded that Paris-bound jet.
At the Fly Away Motel Becky cried and cried about giving her baby away - AGAIN. She had second thoughts and wanted to have her son back but remembered the bottle cap in his wind pipe and knew he was better off with Amber. Becky then realized the time and knew she would have to hurry to catch her plane.
Becky arrived at the guest house looking for Amber but ran smack into
Brooke instead (that had
to hurt.) Brooke noticed Becky had been
crying. Becky covered by saying it had been difficult to say good-bye. Brooke
confronted Becky and told her she knew Amber and Becky had a secret. Brooke
demanded that Becky confide in her what Amber was hiding. Becky stared blankly
at Brooke and realized she didn't have a passport. Well, she was really
staring blankly because it was the end of the episode and we are such lemmings
that we'll have to tune in tomorrow to find out if Becky will spill the
beans. Gee, I really wonder if she will.
Taylor looked like death warmed over in her hospital bed. She asked
Ridge if their house was a mess since she had been away. Ridge admitted
that he, Thomas and Jack (Taylor's father) were not good housekeepers. Ridge
joked that the three of them ate cold pizza, drank stale beer, wore their
underwear around the house, scratched themselves and belched loudly. (How
manly.) Taylor laughed at Ridge's (attempt at) humor but started coughing
from all the hilarity. Taylor told Ridge it wold be all worthwhile once
he held their beautiful daughters. Ridge told Taylor of taking Thomas to
the beach. He gave her a
shell that Thomas had picked out for his
mother. Taylor cried. Ridge then played some ocean sounds and produced a
Tupperware (registered trademark) container of sand for her to fondle. Taylor
broke down again as she touched the sand. Ridge apologized for not knowing
how to help his wife. Taylor told him it was a beautiful gesture and she
loved him very much. Isn't that sweet?
At Stephanie's house Amber told Rick and Steph that Becky was on her way back to Los Angeles. Becky was excited about going to Paris and would definitely not miss the flight. Amber explained that Becky was jealous of the life Amber and Rick had with their baby. The kind of life Becky did not have with her own child, Stephanie surmised. Amber said she learned Becky was happy for them and not a threat. Amber rejoiced that there were no more obstacles to stand in front of her and Rick's happy life. Eric showed up with Becky's tickets and informed the trio Becky's car was outside. Amber panicked when she realized Becky must be in the guest house with Brooke. Amber bolted for the door.
In the guest house, Brooke was mercilessly pumping Becky for the truth about Amber. Becky realized Brooke didn't care about her, Brooke was only concerned with hurting Amber and breaking up her marriage to Rick and she told Brooke as much. Becky wanted no part of destroying Amber's family. Brooke told her the marriage would destruct on its own anyway. Becky asked what would happen to Little Eric if such an event took place. Becky then heard the baby cry and ran to pick him up. Brooke was perplexed but then realized what was going on. (Of course she didn't really figure it out, but Becky feared she had.)
Brooke guessed that Becky didn't want to ruin Amber's marriage because
she loved Little Eric like her own son. Brooke insisted that Little Eric
would be better off without parents that didn't love each other. Becky was
just about to break when Amber stormed through the door like General Patton.
Amber stopped Brooke in her tracks as Rick, Eric and Stephanie entered the
guest house. Rick was happy to see his son. Eric told Becky he wasn't pleased
with her stunt. Becky apologized and said she hadn't intended to hurt anyone.
Amber did some fast talking and told everyone that Becky was going to Paris
and just needed time to say good-bye to her little cousin. Amber then hustled
Becky into the bedroom and shut the door, leaving Brooke, Stephanie and
Eric perplexed with wonder and amazement.
In the bedroom Becky told Amber she couldn't leave her son. Amber got nasty and told her cousin she had no choice. Becky could not provide for Little Eric.
"You are going to go over there, kiss that baby good-bye, go to the Forresters, thank them and get your butt on that plane." Amber insisted. "It's the right thing for you and him and you know it. If you love him you'll go. You'll get on that plane and never look back."
Hard words, Amber, you are so mean.
Taylor was looking worse than ever before. She must be really, really sick! Dr. Wilson told Ridge and Taylor the amnio test results on the twins would be ready in about an hour (just like new glasses at LensCrafters.) Ridge told his wife she couldn't take much more of the disease. Taylor told him she could do anything for their daughters. Taylor was upset that she hadn't had time to prepare the nursery and pick out names for the babies. She insisted they name the children immediately. Ridge told her there would be plenty of time to do those things once she was healthy again. She agreed they could do it later and made Ridge promise to hold their daughters once they were born and tell them she loved them.
Ridge was then shocked when Taylor requested to talk to Brooke. The doctor returned and told the unhappy couple that the babies' lungs were almost fully developed, but not quite yet. Ridge wanted to induce labor immediately and Dr. Wilson concurred. Taylor said she wanted to give the twins one more day to develop and then she'd give birth. She promised Ridge that nothing would happen to her. What fun would that be?
At the guest house Amber told Becky that she also loved Little Eric and could not give him up. Becky expressed her concern that Brooke had told her Amber's marriage was on the rocks. Amber told Becky that Brooke hated her and the story was a lie. Amber reminded Becky she had lost her baby, too, but not by choice. Becky could choose to give her son a wonderful life. Amber told her the Forresters took care of their own and Little Eric would be the prince of the family. She promised she'd send Becky photos and letters. Becky agreed and had a tearful farewell with her son. (Well, she tried to a few tears. She's certainly no Brooke or Macy.) Becky called Little Eric "Little Buck" and "Bugaboo." Isn't that cute? She promised she'd always think of him.
At the main house Brooke insisted to Eric, Stephanie and Rick that Becky
knew Amber's secret and had almost admitted it to her. Brooke wanted to
get to the bottom of the situation, but Stephanie doubted Becky would drop
any type of bombshell just as she left for Paris. Amber and Becky arrived
to say good-bye. Brooke gave Becky a business card and told her to call
her if she ever needed to talk about ANYTHING. (I think the business card
was unnecessary. Becky will be working for Forrester. I'm sure someone in
her office would know how to get in touch with the CEO.) Becky thanked the
Forresters for their kindness and generosity. She told all of them she was
counting on them. The family was puzzled as Amber shoved Becky out the door.
Becky got on the Flight 332 to Paris and cried into her scrawny airline
pillow - but she was sitting in first class.
Amber cooed sweet nothings to Little Eric in the guest house and thanked Becky for giving him back to her. Rick entered and asked what was up with Becky and Amber. Amber explained Becky was not obsessed with Little Eric. She truly loved him. Amber then told Rick she was glad everything was back to normal. She had once thought "normal" to be boring, but now she didn't want it any other way. Amber was happy with her husband and her baby.
Brooke spied on the couple hugging through the windows. She squinted
(thank goodness she hasn't forgotten how) and vowed to uncover the truth
about Amber and Becky's secret.
Note to Viewers: If all reports are to be believed, today was Jacob Young's last day as Rick. He has wanted out of his contract for some time to pursue other projects. His replacement will first air in about a month.
Note to Jacob: Keep your day job, buddy.
Another day had dawned in sunny Los Angeles and Adam, Macy and Clarke
read a newspaper story about Taylor's illness. (It must have been a slow
news day in LA.) Macy was wearing a really hideous blouse/top reminiscent
of a Brittany Spears video. What was she thinking? Macy explained Taylor
had contracted tuberculosis from a homeless Frank Gorshin. She and Clarke
lamented that Ridge and Taylor had fought long and hard to be together
and now it might be taken away. Adam suspected that TB could be cured. Macy
let them know Taylor had contracted a rare strain and would not take drugs
that might harm the unborn twins. Adam marveled that a man like Ridge Forrester
could land a woman with such integrity as Taylor. The Spectra clan wished
there was something they could do to help Taylor. Adam pontificated that
no one should suffer this fate. Unfortunately homeless villains from Batman
didn't make the news like fashion designers' wives. How timely.
At Stephanie's house Ridge lamented Taylor's poor condition and stubborn
resolution to not take the proper drugs. Ridge told his mother he was afraid
Taylor would die. Stephanie comforted her son and told him that Taylor's
refusal to take the drugs was one of the reasons he loved her so much. Stephanie
implored Ridge to keep fighting for Taylor's health. Stephanie was shocked
to learn that Taylor had requested to speak to Brooke. Ridge feared that
Taylor was preparing to die. Stephanie was positive Ridge would not lose
another wife to a deadly disease. (Caroline died of leukemia way back in
the late 80's - sounds just like a soap opera.) Stephanie told Ridge to
get back to the hospital and be strong and help Taylor through this crisis.
Brooke dawned surgical scrubs and a mask to visit Taylor's isolation
room. Brooke was shocked to see what horrible make up had been applied around
Taylor's eyes. Brooke told Taylor she had to start taking the proper medication
immediately. Taylor rasped she was protecting her unborn daughters. Taylor
assured Brooke that although things looked bleak, she intended to recover.
But just in case something happened to her she wanted Brooke to help Ridge
after Taylor was gone. Brooke got all teary-eyed and begged Taylor not to
give up because Ridge and Thomas needed her. Taylor wanted Brooke to promise
she would always be there for Ridge. Taylor knew there was someone new in
Brooke's life, but knew it would never be the same as it had been with Ridge.
Brooke told her ex-nemesis she had changed. Taylor was confident Brooke
would help Ridge if need be. Taylor finally broke down as she asked Brooke
to help care for the twins if she should die. Brooke wept as she comforted
Taylor.
Dr. Wilson called Ridge's cell phone to tell him Taylor had agreed to induce labor. They would start the procedure at once. As Ridge left for the hospital Stephanie prayed that everything would turn out well.
Such heavy drama. I'd like another fashion show or disco party, please.
Episode Date: Friday, September 17, 1999
Brook visited Thorne on his deck and told him Taylor was in much worse
condition than Brooke had expected. They both agreed it would destroy Ridge
if Taylor died. Brooke related to Thorne that Taylor had requested Brooke
help Ridge get on with his life if Taylor should die. Thorne was extremely
curious about Brooke's answer to Taylor's wish. Brooke played coy and said
everyone would help Ridge if the worst happened. Thorne argued that Taylor
meant for Brooke to give more than just support. Thorne asked if Brooke
would go back to Ridge if he were suddenly widowed. Brooke answered the
question by planting a huge, wet kiss on Thorne's face.
All right. Is Thorne on an ego trip as his big brother's wife is dying? Thorne has told Brooke time and time again he doesn't want to get involved with her. Now that there's a possibility Ridge may become available again, Thorne suddenly cares about Brooke's feelings for him? I find it either (1) poorly thought out story telling or (2) ludicrous.
In Eric's office Stephanie told her ex-husband how scared Ridge was
that Taylor might die. They also agreed Taylor's death would tear their
son apart. I'll bet it didn't take Susan Flannery (Stephanie) or John McCook
(Eric) long to learn those few lines.
In her isolation chamber, Taylor was visited by a priest. She had requested Father Young pray for her and her unborn children. Father Young laid his hands on Taylor's belly and began to pray. He stopped suddenly and pulled back. He told Taylor her children were blessed. He had felt a presence that was surely the Holy Spirit.
After Father Young left, Ridge showed up. Taylor informed him what had happened and how she knew the children would be fine. Taylor told her husband to raise the girls well. Ridge insisted Taylor would not die. She told him not to be afraid and to give their children lots of love. Taylor lost consciousness. Ridge went ballistic and ordered Dr. Wilson to take the babies immediately. Ridge requested a C-section but Dr. Wilson advised the trauma of a vaginal birth (there's trauma in just saying it) would help the babies' lungs develop.
The doctor administered a drug to induce labor. Ridge managed to rouse Taylor and she began to feel the pain of the contractions. Ridge pledged to be his wife forever.
Not a lot of jokes to make today. I hate it when that happens.
At Spectra Fashions, Sally inquired about Macy's love life. Macy didn't want to talk about it - but she did anyway. Macy told her mother she didn't want to pressure Thorne, but he was definitely feeling pressure from other sources. Sally told her daughter to fight for Thorne if she truly loved him. Sally said no one else should matter if Macy and Thorne were meant to be together. Macy took her mother's words to heart.
Meanwhile on Thorne's deck, he and Brooke ended their passionate kiss. Thorne enjoyed the gesture but noted Brooke could not put her feelings into words regarding Taylor's request that Brooke get together with Ridge if Taylor should die.
"I don't believe in hypotheticals." said Brooke. She didn't want to consider Taylor's death. "It's too tragic. It'd devastating. If anything were to happen to her I'd be as sad as anybody." Brooke lamented. Thorne agreed to keep a positive attitude as Brooke left.
Thorne then felt the need to do shirtless crunches in his living room.
(I guess they will use just about any excuse to get him out of his clothes.)
Unfortunately, he put a shirt on when Macy arrived. Thorne admitted Brooke
had just left. They argued about Brooke and Thorne asked Macy not to speak
poorly of Miss Logan.
"I don't have to trash Brooke, she is trash." Macy snidely remarked. Good comeback - for a third grader.
Macy told Thorne he was just the latest conquest in Brooke's search for Forrester men. Thorne was insulted by Macy's insinuation he had no control over his feelings. Macy didn't blame Thorne, she just knew how Brooke operated. Thorne claimed Macy had deserted their relationship. Macy reminded him she had found Brooke under his bed! "You've got a thing for her, Thorne. Now be a man and admit it." Ooh, that was harsh.
Thorne told Macy that Brooke had nothing to do with their problems.
Macy begged to differ and told Thorne to get rid of Brooke and the two of
them could pull it together. Thorne told Macy he could not promise he would
not see Brooke, but he didn't want Macy to stop calling either. Macy told
Thorne she was sure they loved each other and he should tell Brooke she
had some serious competition. Macy deposited her own lip marks on his face
and left. Thorne scratched his head and seemed confused. He's a dolt.
At the hospital Taylor was in labor and told Ridge she was too weak to go through with the delivery. Dr. Wilson requested Ridge leave for a little while to let Taylor rest. Upon his exit, a nurse reported Taylor's blood pressure was dropping and her temperature was rising. It didn't sound too good to me.
In the isolation room viewing area Ridge was greeted by Brooke. She
told Ridge that Taylor had told her she planned to live. When Ridge asked
if Taylor had told her anything else, Brooke was hesitant to come clean.
At Ridge's insistence Brooke admitted Taylor had asked her to take care
of Ridge should she die. Brooke again insisted Taylor would survive. Ridge
said Taylor was dying and it was his fault. He should have insisted she
take the proper medications sooner. Ridge embraced Brooke for support just
as Stephanie and Jack walked in.
Dr. Wilson also appeared and told Ridge Taylor needed his help. Brooke
offered to accompany him into the isolation room but Stephanie forbade it.
Jack and Ridge entered Taylor's room as Brooke squinted angrily at Stephanie.
Stephanie told Brooke to leave but she refused.
Ridge found Taylor unconscious again. Dr. Wilson urged Ridge to bring her around. He was afraid she would slip into a coma before she could give birth. Ridge begged and pleaded for his wife to return. She came too and started the pushing to birth those babies. (I personally think Taylor woke up so Ridge would quit over emoting.)

Stephanie called Eric at his office and told him to hightail it to the
hospital. Taylor was in labor and needed support. Just as Eric was leaving,
Sally was escorted in by a security guard. Eric reminded Sally she was not
welcome on Forrester property. Sally insisted she just wanted to find out
about Taylor's condition. Eric softened at Sally's concern and told her
Taylor was in labor and fighting for her life. Sally understood that Taylor
would never have done anything to jeopardize the health of her children.
As Eric left with Sally, she commented that it was amazing how a crisis
could make two enemies such as them bury the hatchet. Eric commented he
hoped it would not need to become Taylor's legacy.
At the hospital Brooke's remembrance of Taylor's request was interrupted by Stephanie urging her to leave. "Every time we get together I'm more and more amazed." Said Brooke. "By what?" asked Stephanie. "By how much I hate you." Brooke replied. Brooke explained Taylor's request. Stephanie found it hard to swallow.
"Two of Ridge's wives have asked me to take care of him. You think
about that the next time you throw mud in my face." Brooke chortled.
(You may remember that Caroline asked Brooke to watch over Ridge when she
was diagnosed with leukemia.) Eric arrived and waited for news of Taylor's
delivery with Stephanie and Brooke.
In the isolation room Ridge encouraged Taylor to push. As the first baby
crowned Taylor passed out from the exertion. Ridge revived her and encouraged
her to continue. The first daughter was born and everyone breathed a sigh
of relief. Unfortunately the second baby was smaller and had trouble making
it out of the birth canal. Ridge asked the doctor to perform a C-section.
Dr. Wilson said Taylor had lost too much blood to survive the procedure.
Taylor
pushed and pushed and pushed and the second baby finally emerged. The
newborn wasn't breathing immediately and everyone was worried. Dr. Wilson
managed to get the baby up and going. As she cried, Ridge held both his
new daughters and proudly presented them to his family. No one seemed too
worried about Taylor, though.
They would have been worried if they had just listened to the ominous music in the background. Taylor flatlined. Ridge panicked when he heard the doctor say Code Blue.
Episode Date: Wednesday, September 22, 1999
Sally returned to her office and told Macy and Clarke about Taylor's condition. They discussed that tuberculosis was on the rise, especially in the homeless population. It's amazing how well read these characters are. Clarke was bitter and said there was no divine plan for anything. Taylor simply got the shaft. Macy disagreed and said she knew something good would come of Taylor's distress. Sally noted it sometimes took a drastic event to serve as a wake up call.
At the hospital, Ridge held his new-born daughters and looked befuddled
as the doctors worked frantically to save Taylor's life. Brooke, Eric and
Stephanie watched in horror as Ridge begged Taylor not to leave him. But
even as Ridge wailed, Taylor floated up above the table with the help of
some fancy camera work. Omigawd! Taylor had an out of body experience.
Eric, Stephanie and Brooke all donned surgical scrubs and masks and entered the isolation chamber. Yeah, like the doctors would allow that to happen! The doctors tired CPR, electric shock, injections and a few home remedies but they feared they lost Taylor. Ridge gritted his teeth and flailed around a lot.
As turmoil ensued below, Taylor hovered above the room in a white robe
as a wind machine blew her hair. Her make-up also looked a lot better than
it has lately. She barely noticed as Frank Gorshin came up beside her in
an identical robe. Taylor seemed disoriented and wondered aloud where she
was. The Riddler (who looks really, really old without all that dirty make-up
he wore as homeless man George) told Taylor he had come to help her understand.
Taylor asked if she was dead. Frank told her there was no life or death.
She was presently in a state of transition. Taylor saw her daughters below
and told Frank she wanted to go back. Frank realized it made no sense. For
her act of kindness and compassion to a dirty, homeless man she had been
infected with a deadly disease. Frank explained the knowledge of an afterlife
was Taylor's reward for her selfless act. He told her this was a lesson
she would teach her children. Taylor was excited she would get to return
to earth.
As the heart monitor bottomed out Ridge recited Taylor's favorite Psalm
(the same one she had read when she entered the isolation room.) He sure
did know it awfully well. Everyone in the room was overcome with sadness.
As Ridge hugged his wife good-bye the heart monitor showed a small bleep.
A nurse noticed the sign of life and told everyone. Taylor opened her eyes.
Ridge was really, really happy.
That was all really sweet, but if I wanted to watch Touched By an Angel, I'd tune in on Sunday evenings.
Note to the viewers: I noticed yesterday that Jacob Young's (ex-Rick) photo has been removed from the opening photo montage. I'm sensing there was animosity in his departure.
Episode Date: Thursday, September 23, 1999
Dr. Wilson told the Forrester family it was a miracle that Taylor survived. As Taylor drifted in and out of consciousness, each family member talked to her. (just like Judy Garland at the end of the Wizard of OZ. You remember "and I saw you and you .") Everyone was happy she would recover. Brooke hung out in the background but Taylor called to speak to her last. Taylor thanked Brooke for her pledge to care for Ridge if she had died. The two former enemies clasped hands (just like Susan Sarandon and Geena Davis in Thelma and Louise) Dr. Wilson showed up with an IV bag of drugs to cure Taylor. He announced she'd feel better in only 24 hours. Talk about your miracles!
Outside Brooke trashed her dowdy scrubs. Ridge asked her about her conversation
with Taylor. Brooke told him it was a private conversation between Taylor
and her. Brooke embraced Ridge and told him to spend time with his wife.
Ridge returned to Taylor's bedside
and thanked her for coming
back to them. Taylor told her husband of her out of body experience and
of seeing Frank Gorshin in heaven. She told Ridge that kindness to anyone
always turned out for the best. They should always try to help those less
fortunate than themselves. Taylor said that is why they were put on earth.
Ridge promised to teach their children that lesson. Two nurses brought the
babies to the isolation room window for Taylor to see. Both she and Ridge
cried at their beautiful children.
Macy called Thorne and invited him out to dinner. She suggested Café Ruse or Insomnia. (Let's see, a four star French restaurant or a cheap coffee house. It's always so hard to decide.) They agreed on Insomnia at 7:00. Wrong choice.
Darla was visiting Macy and helped her prepare for her date. Macy confided
in Darla that Brooke was chasing after Thorne. Darla shuddered at the idea
of Brooke sleeping her way through the entire Forrester family. Macy worried
she could not compete with Brooke's "electric charge." (What is
that all about?) Darla told her friend that she (Darla) knew how to attract
a man and she'd share her secrets with Macy. We were treated to "Kiss
Me" by Sixpence None the Richer as Darla watched Macy try on different
outfits. (Just like Patty Duke and Patty Duke on the Patty Duke Show.) Darla
encouraged Macy to be more like Brooke. Take chances, Darla suggested, that's
what men like. "Love is a game of power. Go show Thorne how powerful
you are." You go, girl.
Brooke called Thorne from the hospital and told him the good news of
the twin's birth and Taylor's good health. She suggested they get together
for dinner to discuss the entire affair. Thorne begged off. He was honest
and told Brooke he was going with Macy to Insomnia. Brooke squinted into
the pay phone with a knowing glare. What the heck is she cooking up now?
Thorne was getting dressed for his big night at the coffee house. Macy showed up early dressed in a tiny, tight, red dress. She told Thorne she just couldn't wait to see him. She planted a big, wet one on his lips. You go again, girl.
Ridge entered Taylor's isolation room and reported the babies were both in perfect health. Taylor's selfless act of letting them develop in the womb had paid off and he was thankful. Taylor wished she could hold her twins but felt ungrateful for that desire since she had been given so much already. Scott, the hospital orderly, arrived and Ridge helped him plop an amazingly agile Taylor into a wheelchair. Ridge wheeled his wife over to the viewing window where two nurses displayed their daughters. Ridge asked if they had determined if the twins were identical. The nurse replied they were running tests to find out. Taylor and Ridge marveled at the beauty of their children.
"You're the reason for everything good and beautiful in my life." Ridge cooed to Taylor. The agreed all the trauma they'd endured had been worth it. "You rock." Ridge complimented. You rock?!? There's a romantic line to last through the ages.
Brooke sat in her office and gazed at a Polaroid photo of Ridge and
the twins. She told the air she was genuinely happy for him. Brooke then
wandered into the Forrester photo studio and found Giovanni at work. He
showed Brooke some shots of Kimberly. They agreed she had "something
special." Giovanni suggested a beauty such as Kimberly needed "
a
setting rich in drama and poetry." He knew just the palazzo in Venice.
Gio suggested they discuss it further over dinner or coffee. Brooke jumped
at the idea of coffee. Either she was jonesing for a double cappuccino or
she wanted to spy on Macy and Thorne at Insomnia. Gee, I wonder which it
was.
Speaking of the super couple, Macy and Throne shared a table at the
coffee house. Thorne told Macy the good news of the twins healthy start.
Macy said she was sorry Stephanie had found out about Brooke's interest
in Thorne. Macy thought she could handle Brooke on her own. Macy told Thorne
she didn't really see Brooke as a threat.
"Sure, Brooke is attractive. But when you get right down to it she's a groupie with a Forrester fetish. And you were third in line, which isn't too flattering. She has no moral fiber. She has no sense of loyalty. I've had pedicures that have lasted longer than her marriages." That was some fine dirt dishing, Macy. Keep up the good work. You'll make me a happy man.
Macy told Thorne she trusted him. She knew what he was capable of. Macy
admitted she had taken Thorne for granted. Thorne told Macy he had given
into doubts. Macy was quick to point out Brooke had fueled those doubts.
Macy then spied Brooke and Giovanni enter the establishment and excused
herself.
Brooke stood at the coffee bar and eyed Thorne (you just know she was
squinting.) Macy approached from behind and urged Brooke to go for it. Brooke
asked why Macy was worried if she was so sure Thorne would choose her over
Brooke. Macy told here nemesis she wasn't
worried at all. She
just wanted to spare Brooke the humiliation of throwing herself at another
Forrester man. Brooke demonstrated she didn't have to throw herself at men.
Brooke batted her eyes at table of dudes. The hunkiest of the three made
a beeline for Miss Logan and asked to by her a drink. Brooke coquetishly
declined. Macy was also approached by a handsome man. Unfortunately, he
just wanted to complain to her about his bill. (Oh yeah, that's right. Macy
owns Insomnia. Thanks for reminding us.) Brooke was amused by Macy's bad
luck.
"You're felling pretty cocky." Macy spit. "you've won a lot of battles with the same old tricks - and I do mean tricks. But you're on my turf now."
"What are you going to do Macy? Overcharge me?" Brooke taunted.
Brooke returned to her table with Giovanni. He inquired about the woman Brooke had been chatting with. Brooke told him Macy was simply the owner of the coffee house but changed the subject when he asked about the man Macy was with.
Macy want back to Thorne and told him Brooke would be sorry she had shown up tonight.
Catfight! Please, oh please let there be a catfight on Monday!
While sitting at a table at Insomnia with Giovanni, Brooke stared at Thorne and squinted. (I'll just come out and say today was a virtual Brooke Squint-A-Thon. Every time the camera was on Katherine Kelly Lang, her eyes narrowed into little slits. There was just no way to capture them all for you, dear reader. I apologize. I hope you can forgive me.) Gio told her of his ideas for a photo shoot in Venice (do I smell a location sequence approaching?). Brooke told the photographer she'd have to discuss it with Thorne. (Thorne? Thorne is in charge of ordering fabric. Don't you think Eric or Ridge would have more say about the location of photos shoots? Thorne?) Giovanni quickly deduced Brooke was pining away for Thorne.
At their own table Thorne suggested to Macy they leave. Macy told Thorne she would beat Brooke at her (Brooke's) own game. Macy thought a minute and then said she'd beat Brooke my (Macy's) own game. (I can't believe I didn't see this coming. I must be losing my "there's a song coming on" touch.)
A waiter delivered a tray of pastries to Brooke's table. Brooke told
him they didn't order the goodies. He explained they were compliments of
Miss Alexander - and they were to enjoy the show. "My Lord." Brooke
uttered as she sprang from her seat just as Macy grabbed a microphone and
took the stage. Brooke grabbed Giovanni and tried to make it to the door
but they were blocked by the stampeding crowd bustling to get closer to
Macy's performance. Macy rocked the house with a sterling rendition of a
country song about having a crush on a guy. (I'm so terribly embarrassed
I did not recognize the country song. Therefore, I cannot refer you to the
actual song and artist. I'm losing my Midwestern touch.) Macy flirted with
the cute male customers (including Thorne, Giovanni and the guy that had
hit on Brooke earlier) as she belted the tune. The crowd went wild.
As the applause died down Macy announced there was a celebrity in the
crowd - the CEO of Forrester Creations, Brooke Logan. (Like anyone at a
coffee house would consider the CEO of a fashion house a celebrity worth
caring about. Now say Tina Yothers had been there - that would have gotten
me excited.) Macy prodded Brooke on stage and encouraged her to sing. Brooke
made light of it and asked how hard it could be. Macy handed her the lyrics
and cranked up "I Will Survive" (that classic disco tune made
famous by Miss Gloria Gaynor.) Brooke was horrible and left the stage in
disgrace after the first four lines. Macy, of course, picked up the tune
just as the lyrics prompted her to sing "Go on now, go. Walk out the
door. Just turn around now. You're not welcome anymore. Weren't you the
one who tried to hurt me with your lies? You'd thought I'd crumble. You'd
thought I'd lay down and die. Oh, no, not I. I will survive." Wasn't
that appropriate as Brooke left Insomnia in disgrace?
Giovanni followed Brooke outside and tried to make her feel better. Brooke thanked him but told him she had to leave. Inside, Macy told Thorne that now Brooke was gone they could really celebrate.
Stephanie brought Eric a pastrami on rye sandwich as he worked late. They agreed that Ridge and Taylor would have a wonderful life. Eric expressed concern that Thorne had not worked out his problems with Macy. When he realized Stephanie knew more than she was saying, he forced her to tell him that Brooke was chasing after Thorne. Eric blew a gasket. He couldn't believe his ex-wife (and one of his son's ex-wife) was now pursuing his other son. Eric told Stephanie he wouldn't stand for it and wondered how it would effect Rick and Bridget. "Her children come in a distant second to her libido." Stephanie purred.
Eric tried to call Brooke but didn't reach her at home. Stephanie didn't know where she was but said she knew where she had better not be. "I wish she'd go trolling in some other pond." Good one, girl.
But sure enough, Brooke was trolling on Thorne's deck. She slipped inside
(doesn't anyone in Los Angeles lock their doors?) just as Macy and Thorne
appeared on the deck. Macy and Thorne were just about to do come mattress
dancing on the deck when Brooke paged Thorne from inside Thorne's house.
Thorne got a "message" from Javier in the sewing room and had
to leave. Macy understood and went home telling herself how much Thorne
loved her.
Thorne went inside and found Brooke in his living room. Brooke admitted she had faked the message from Javier. She told him they had to talk, but her squint told us she didn't have talking in mind.
Clarke and Sally chatted in her office. He told Ms. Spectra what a great
young man CJ had turned out to be. Clarke particularly enjoyed working with
CJ on a daily basis. He complimented Sally on a fine job of raising their
son. Clarke also appreciated Sally's insistence he come back to work at
Spectra. It had done wonders for his career. To show his appreciation, he
gave her a big hug. Adam walked in and interrupted the tender moment. Clarke
excused himself to the sewing room and Adam warned Sally to be careful around
Clarke. Sally informed her once-dead husband that she had run the company
and her life fine without him for many years and could continue to do the
same. If he felt like worrying, she told him to worry about Macy. Adam wasn't
too upset to learn that Macy and Thorne still hadn't put it back together.
Sally told him that their daughter truly loved Thorne and wouldn't be happy
without him. Sally fully intended to find out what had come between the
two of them.
Macy fondled a framed photo of Thorne in her living room and vowed to take things slowly. She imagined Brooke never stood a chance with Thorne in the first place. Stephanie dropped by on her way to Thorne's house next door. Macy told La Forrester that Brooke and Thorne were history. Macy explained she had made it clear to Brooke that she was not welcome in Thorne's life. Stephanie warned Macy to never underestimate Miss Logan. Macy told her ex-mother-in-law that she was confident Thorne had no interest in Brooke. Macy said she was sorry to have upset Stephanie by telling her about Brooke and Thorne in the first place. Stephanie admitted she had lost control and hit Brooke, but was stopped from harming her by Thorne. (As I recall, Stephie, you nearly choked Brooke after you hit her and then went after her with kitchen cutlery! How convenient you forgot about those other little misdeeds.) Stephanie wondered how she could ever protect her family from a predator like Brooke. Macy was sure their worries were over.
Not so fast, Macy. Brooke was over at Thorne's at that very moment telling
him their relationship was inevitable. Brooke told Thorne he was always
putting other people's happiness before his own. Thorne explained he couldn't
be happy with Brooke because it would break Macy's heart and tear his family
apart. Brooke assured him Macy would not be able to give Thorne what she
could give him. Thorne lamented he had been burned before when he had risked
everything on love. Brooke asked Thorne point blank what he wanted. Thorne
responded by passionately kissing Brooke's pouty lips. He desired to be
with her that night and every night but the outside world wouldn't allow
it.
Thorne told Brooke she was beautiful. She responded that she wanted more from him than just sex. She asked what he wanted from her. When he was reluctant to answer she got pissed off and told him they almost had what both of them had been looking for, but she was tired of being the bad guy and playing games. She was a mother and had a career and she had no time to waste. If Thorne truly wanted her he'd have to take the lead. She would never settle for less than true love and she was afraid he would do just that with Macy. As Brooke started to leave, Thorne asked her to stay.
"I love you Brooke Logan." Thorne admitted.
Brooke was overjoyed and kissed her new beau. Oh oh, just you wait until Stephanie clues into this, Missy. There's going to be fur flying and it won't be in the sewing room with Javier.
As they continued to chat in Macy's living room, Stephanie told Macy she was glad she and Thorne had worked things out. Stephanie said that both families would be behind the couple this time. Macy was very grateful for Stephanie's support.
No sooner had Stephanie left than Sally paid a visit to her daughter.
Sally told Macy she had seen Stephanie leave and she assumed the Forrester
matriarch was giving her a hard time. Sally was astounded when Macy related
Stephanie had been there to support her relationship with Thorne. Macy said
things were going well with Thorne but they weren't ready to set a wedding
date yet. Sally insisted Macy tell her what had happened between her and
Thorne. Although Macy promised all her problems were behind her, Sally would
not let up. Macy admitted she had not told her parents the actual problem
because she was afraid of her father's reaction. Sally promised not to tell
Adam the truth. Macy finally told her mother that Thorne had been involved
with Brooke. Sally shook her red hair and pursed her scarlet lips. She couldn't
believe what she was hearing.
Over at Thorne's bungalow, he was busy smooching with Brooke. They agreed they felt something between them the first time they kissed (I'm thinking it may have been something literal and figurative). He told Miss Logan it felt right to have her in his arms. He could no longer fight his attraction to her and wanted to explore the feelings. He started to explore a lot more than that as they fell to the floor in a passionate embrace. Thorne put a halt to the proceedings. He told Brooke he wanted everything to be perfect. He requested she go into the bedroom (she knew the way, she'd been there before) and light candles while she waited for him. Brooke all but vaulted over the coach to get to that bedroom.
Thorne got some wine and locked the patio door (a little too late, I'd say) and started for the bedroom when Stephanie knocked on the door. Thorne was shocked to see his mother. He explained the page from Javier had been a false alarm. Stephanie recounted her conversation with Macy. Steph told Thorne how happy she was that Brooke was no longer a part of his life. Stephanie said she regretted what had happened when she attacked Brooke at the cabin in Big Bear but she accepted responsibility for her actions. She told her son she was only trying to protect him . Stephanie trusted him but knew how devious Brooke could be. She was worried what his relationship would do to him and to their family. Stephanie knew he would make the right decision.
Devious indeed. Brooke was literally panting in the bedroom waiting
for Thorne to come and give her some good lovin'. As she waited, Brooke
daydreamed of a beach picnic with Thorne. In her fantasy Brooke imagined
them telling each other the reasons they were in love. (Hello? Imagining
your boyfriend telling you all your good qualities? I think that is more
than a bit narcissistic.) Thorne then produced a huge honker of a diamond
and proposed marriage to Brooke. Back to reality, Brooke couldn't wait any
longer for some hot Thorne action. She stripped to her skivvies and walked
out of the bedroom.
Oh oh.
Thorne hugged Stephanie good bye and opened the door for her. Too late. Brooke strutted into the room calling for Thorne. Stephanie wheeled around. Her eyes bugged out of her skull as she saw Brooke in her tawdry little undies.
Sometimes tomorrow just can't come soon enough.
Episode Date: Thursday, September 30, 1999
What a difference a couple of hours can make. Taylor seems fit as a
fiddle in today's episode. I realize soap opera time is vastly different
than the world you and I live in, but this is just taking it too far. It
is the same evening that she gave birth for crying out loud! She was near
death just a couple of hours ago and now she's propped up in bed, has washed
her hair, fixed her makeup and applied eyeliner and is just chatting away.
If I'm not mistaken she was near death just a scant time ago. From things
she said today they are trying to get us to believe that at least one day
has passed since she was hovering near the ceiling with Mr. Frank Gorshin.
Please give us some credit. It's the same night!
Taylor told Ridge she was upset she hadn't been able to hold their daughters. Taylor wanted to bring the babies into her isolation room that very night. Ridge told her they should wait until the doctor gave the OK. Taylor made Ridge ask Dr. Wilson when she could hold her twins. In the lobby, Dr. Wilson decided the quarantine could be lifted. Gee, those really were miracle drugs in that IV bag! Ridge tapped on the glass of the isolation chamber and gave Taylor the thumbs up.
Sally and Macy chatted on Macy's deck. Sally couldn't believe Brooke
had tried to sink her claws into Thorne. Macy defended Thorne by saying
he had been upset at her and fallen prey to Brooke's manipulations. Macy
was confident her love for Thorne was strong and Brooke could not separate
them. Sally warned her daughter to be careful around that wily Brooke. Sally
vowed not to tell Adam a word about this latest incident. He already hated
the Forresters and this would only add fuel to the fire. Sally was further
astounded to learn Stephanie knew of Brooke's machinations. Sally understood
Stephanie's need to protect her family. Sally hoped this had not pushed
Stephanie past her limits.
Oh, but Stephanie was certainly being pushed. She demanded to know why Brooke was prancing about in her bra and panties in Thorne's living room. Thorne pleaded with his mother to calm down. Stephanie ordered Brooke to leave but both Brooke and Thorne insisted she would stay. Steph couldn't believe that Thorne had known Brooke was in his bedroom waiting for him. She encouraged her son to think about his relationship with Macy. Thorne informed us all it was all over him and Macy. Thorne told his mother he loved Brooke. Stephanie insisted it wasn't love. Brooke put her foot down and told Stephanie to quit calling her names and to mind her own business.
Stephanie went off the deep end. She said Brooke didn't know the meaning
of love. She was only out to destroy the Forrester family. Stephanie said
the only mistake she had made was not stopping Brooke when she had the chance
at the cabin in Big Bear. Stephanie ranted how she had tried to teach all
her children morals and principles. If Thorne slept with Brooke he would
become just like her - self serving and soulless. Steph was just about to
spit further bile when she stopped dead in her tracks. Her face contorted
and she fell to the floor!
OMIGAWD! You'd better take her to the all night HIV-testing, sonogram, tuberculosis testing and brain meltdown clinic to see Dr. Wilson.
