Somewhere in the bowels of Spectra Fashions, Becky waited for CJ and
grasped her stomach in pain. Sally and Darla ran into her and discussed
the exciting trip Becky and CJ were taking to Santa Barbara. Sally and
Darla went to find CJ and Darla told La Spectra that Amber was in the
office talking to CJ. Sally barged into her office just as Amber was about to tell CJ about Becky's disease. Sally told Amber whatever she wanted to tell CJ could wait until he returned from his vacation with Becky. CJ grabbed his bag and roses and left. CJ and Becky drove down the highway and reveled in how lucky they were to have found each other. Becky guessed God had something special planned for them. (Yeah, like a real nice funeral, I'd guess.) Back at Spectra, Sally threatened to call CJ on his cell phone and request that he and Becky return so Amber could explain her little secret to all of them. Amber didn't want to ruin Becky's trip, so she gave in to Sally's demands. Sally wanted to know what Amber was hiding. Amber admitted she was trying to protect Becky. Sally assumed Becky wasn't the sweet girl they all thought she might be. Amber corrected her and told Sally that Becky was dying of cancer! Sally was flabbergasted!
Episode Date: Tuesday, May 2, 2000 On their way to Santa Barbara, CJ and Becky stopped at a fast food joint to eat french fries and drink milk shakes in the car. Becky's off-key singing with the radio caused CJ to turn off the music. (And for that, I will be eternally grateful.) After some cringe-inducing, young-love banter, the two hit the road and arrived at The Wishing Well Cottage in Santa Barbara. Becky was awe struck by the grandeur of the accommodations. She told CJ she felt bad because he was showering her with so many gifts and all she had given him was a dinner she had burned. CJ tenderly kissed Becky and told her all he wanted was to be with her. "I love you so much" he told her. (Aw.)
Just then, CJ called to tell his mother they had arrived in Santa Barbara. Becky spoke with Sally and told her how fabulous their hotel was. Sally made Becky promise to enjoy each moment while she was away. After hanging up the phone, Sally and Amber exchanged worried looks. (Sure. What else do they have to do?)
But perhaps Macy's doubts are the greatest threat to her own marriage. Think about that, would ya?
Episode Date: Wednesday, May 3, 2000 Sally told Clarke that Becky had terminal cancer. Clarke found it hard to believe Becky had not been told the truth. Sally explained Amber's story of wanting her cousin to be happy. Clarke feared the truth would destroy CJ.
Before Ridge arrived, Morgan found one of Ridge's old shirts in the beach house. She sniffed it (OK, that's just gross!) and wrapped it around herself. (Can you say psycho?) Luckily, she had removed the shirt when Ridge arrived with his tool box and wrench. (Ridge has a tool box? Who knew he was so handy around the house?) After he fixed the sink, he asked Morgan if she was still going through with her plan to get pregnant with artificial insemination. He understood her fear of the exam room because it must remind her of the abortion clinic. Morgan thought any fears she had would be worth it to have a baby. Morgan told Ridge that Stephanie had been to visit her and was quite cruel . Stephanie had tried to turn Morgan's decision to have a baby into something sick and twisted. Morgan insisted she never meant to lie to anyone about what had happened. She just could never bring herself to talk about it with anyone. Morgan feared she would be judged for murdering her child. When she broke down, Ridge took Morgan in his arms to comfort her. Now this is going to be hard to believe, but at that very moment, Taylor arrived and saw her husband embracing another woman through the window. Taylor wasn't too happy about it and stormed into the house with a mean look on her face. Morgan was surprised to see her new friend and Ridge had one stupid look on his face. Shocking! Simply shocking!
Episode Date: Thursday, May 4, 2000
At Insomnia, Macy told Kimberly the story she had learned from Ridge about Thorne proposing to Brooke in Venice. (I think someone needs to give Macy a good slap across the face and tell her to get over her bad funky self.) Kimberly replied that Ridge had done everyone a favor by breaking up Thorne and Brooke. She was certain Thorne loved Macy and would not stay married to her if he didn't love her. Kimberly told her half-sister to trust her husband. Kimberly left the coffee house and encouraged Macy to go home and wait for her hunky spouse.
Brooke seductively sprawled across a bench, but sat up straight (I'll bet Thorne did, too) when Thorne threatened to leave again. When Thorne headed for the door, Brooke grabbed his towel. Thorne covered his privates with his hands and was forced to stay. As Brooke used Thorne's towel as a pillow, she said it w as hard to meet men. Thorne listed all Brooke's attributes and then realized she was only fishing for compliments. They engaged in some trivial banter that ended with Brooke snapping Thorne's firm buttocks with the extra towel. More playful giggling and horseplay ensued until they ended up in each other's arms. (Now that as a shocker!) Brooke asked to hold him for a moment. Thorne gave in and stroked her hair. Finally, he could take no more and bolted from the room stark naked! Well, what do you know? Kimberly entered the gym just as Thorne made a dash for it. Kimberly found it rather amusing (and titillating, I'm sure) but began her work out by kneeling down to pick up a dumbbell. Undetected, she was shocked to then see Brooke leave the sauna/steam room. She was dumbfounded! Thorne returned to his office (unfortunately, now fully clothed). He spun around when Kimberly entered and slammed the door uttering these famous words: "You bastard! You were naked in the steam room with Brooke! What is the matter with you? How could you do this to my sister?" I guess that answers the question. It's a steam room.
Episode Date: Friday, May 5, 2000 What? No Cinco de Mayo celebration? (Hey, I just remembered there used to be a Mexican restaurant set on The Bold and the Beautiful. They didn't use it very often. It was about the time Karen Spencer was hanging around. Can anyone remember the name of that restaurant?)
In her office, Brooke gazed at a framed photograph of Thorne and her in Venice just as Rick entered the room. Brooke turned the photo face down on her desk but Rick asked what it was. He looked at the photo and told his mother he understood how much she missed her friendship with Thorne. Somehow (he's not really all that bright, you know) Rick figured out Thorne and Brooke were more than just friends. Rick asked how she could get involved with his half-brother after going through his other half-brother and their father. (OK, he didn't put it in exactly those words.) Brooke admitted the truth and said she had tried to deny her feelings and Rick could understand how that felt. Rick encouraged his mother to get on with her life just as Thorne had. He reminded Brooke of all the time she had wasted pining away for Ridge. Brooke replied that Thorne's marriage was a mistake. She said that Thorne had proposed to her (Brooke) in Venice before he married Macy. There had been a misunderstanding between them. Brooke squinted her eyes (haven't seen her do that in quite a while) and told her son she didn't think Thorne's marriage to Macy would last. Over at Spectra fashions, Macy had apparently told her mother the truth about Venice she had learned from Ridge. Sally told her daughter to take Kimberly's advice and forget about it. Macy said she had to be certain Thorne loved her. (Whine, whine, whine.) Sally said if Macy felt threatened by Brooke, she needed to neutralize that threat. Macy needed to fight for what was hers.
At that moment, Macy entered the office. She was surprised to see Kimberly there and upset with her when Thorne said Kimberly had told him what Macy had been going through. Thorne told his wife he knew she was insecure about Brooke. He had hoped it wouldn't come to this point, but they had to deal with it immediately. Macy looked concerned and constipated. I suppose we're to think Thorne is going to dump Macy on the spot. How - oh how - can we wait until Monday?
Episode Date: Monday, May 8, 2000
In Thorne's office, Macy admitted she knew everything that had transpired
between Thorne and Brooke in Venice. They agreed it was time for the
truth and Thorne told Macy he was sorry she had been hurting. Kimberly
hung around and informed Thorne that Macy had almost started drinking
again because of the mess he had caused. Thorne was devastated to hear
that. Macy admitted it was true but she didn't feel she could confide
in him. Kimberly butted in again that Macy didn't need Thorne's apologies,
she needed him! At that point, Thorne kicked Over in Brooke's office, Rick was shocked to learn of his mother's
romantic involvement with his half-brother, Thorne. Brooke explained
why she and Thorne had tried to keep their romance a secret. Rick figured
out what had happened in Venice and was mad that Ridge had hurt his
mother yet again. Brooke wasn't upset because she was confident Thorne
would come back to her. When Rick pointed out that Macy would be crushed
if Thorne left her, Brooke said she harbored no ill will toward Macy.
Brooke was certain, however, that Thorne would never be happy with Macy.
Rick told his mother that he would accept her relationship with Thorne
if it would truly make her happy. Rick left the office as Brooke daydreamed
about Thorne. (Probably remembering snatching that towel in the steam
room, I bet.) Brooke's reverie was interrupted by Kimberly stomping into the room and slamming the door. "You are nothing but an immoral homewrecker!" Kimberly screamed at Brooke. Brooke told Kimberly to leave, but the teen informed Miss Logan it was her responsibility to protect her sister (since when?) and Brooke would have to answer to her if she hurt Macy. Um, Kimberly, honey, I'd cool it just a bit. Not only is Brooke your boss, ya know, she's also your potential mother-in-law. This little scene isn't going to make Thanksgiving dinner very comfortable. That's all I'm saying.
Episode Date: Tuesday, May 9, 2000 In his office, Thorne asked Macy is she would really be able to put Brooke out of their lives. He expressed concern about her sobriety. Macy said her suspicions and doubts were indeed a threat to her staying sober. Macy explained that was why Brooke had to be excised from their lives. Macy knew the Forresters might be able to handle Brooke's treachery, but she was not strong enough. Macy hugged Thorne and thanked him for his support. He was what helped her through the rough times.
As Brooke recovered from her brow beating, Thorne arrived. He said Macy knew everything that had happened between them. (Does she know about the obnoxious bubble bath scene we had to endure?) Thorne explained that Macy realized he still had feelings for Brooke and had been tempted to drink again. Thorne moaned that he should have been there for Macy, but was spending time with Brooke instead. Brooke reminded Thorne they had done nothing wrong. They really had been working. Brooke told Thorne things would only get worse if he didn't tell Macy the truth right away. (I've got a feeling, Brooke's idea of the truth is different than Thorne's idea of the truth.) On the patio in Santa Barbara, Becky told CJ she had never felt better as she hid her pain. CJ guessed her strange mood might have to do with her missing her son. Becky said she missed Little Eric, but she wasn't afraid to be happy and spend time with CJ. She said CJ was perfect for her. CJ said he intended to treat Becky like a princess for a long time to come. (Or until she croaks, whichever comes first.) In the seedy apartment, Amber spoke lovingly to Little Eric when Stephanie and Sally showed up. The two divas told Amber she had to tell CJ and Becky the truth about Becky's condition that night. Amber said she didn't know how to break the bad news. Becky was her best friend. They had shared their entire life together. Amber shared Becky's photo album and cried there would be no more photos to put in it. (Question #1: Didn't Amber meet singing star Raymond when they went to school together in Atlanta? We know that Becky had never been out of Furnace Creek she took her job in Paris. So how could Amber and Becky have spent their entire lives together when they lived in different cities?)
After Amber hung up the speaker phone, Sally said the truth must be told immediately. Amber agreed. (Question #3: Did CJ and Becky have sex? As horned up as B&B has been lately, I would think we would have seen some action if the two teens had engaged in some horizontal hula. Are we to believe they spent a night - although there is no proof a night occurred - together and didn't have sex? I'm doubting it.)
Episode Date:Wednesday, May 10, 2000 Kimberly pulled Macy into Morgan's empty office. Macy said Thorne was committed to her and would not fall for any of Brooke's "cheap, slutty tricks." (But those are the best kind, Macy.) Kimberly told her sister she was afraid Thorne already had. She explained how she had witnessed Thorne leaving the steam room buck naked and Brooke followed soon after. (Buck Naked should be Thorne's porn star name.) Macy was certain nothing had happened between her husband and Miss Logan because she trusted Thorne. Macy steamed that such tricks were "vintage Brooke Logan." Macy said her marriage and her sobriety were on the line and she wouldn't let Brooke win.
Apparently Thorne left Brooke's office because Macy arrived and startled Brooke as she slammed the door. Macy ordered the CEO to stop coming on to her husband. Brooke suggested Macy not push her. Macy paid no heed and called Brooke a "walking, talking piece of pornography." (Oh, that is low down, Macy. Way to go!) Brooke yelled that her relationship with Thorne was more than sex and that if it wasn't for Macy's drinking problem, she (Brooke) would be married to Thorne at that very moment. Macy glared back at Brooke.
At the Wishing Well Inn in Santa Barbara, Becky was in such pain she was sweating! (Ick!) CJ was concerned, but Becky said she was just hot. She thanked him for making the last few days the best of her life. (LAST FEW DAYS?!? Are they telling us Becky and CJ have been gone for more than one day? I find this difficult to swallow. I can count and they have been gone for only a couple of hours! It's the same day that they left!) But I digress. As they checked out of the hotel, they stopped by the wishing well again, kissed, took a photo and kissed some more. As CJ went to get the car, Becky made a wish that this relationship would last forever. Just after she tossed her penny into the well, she doubled over in pain.
But wouldn't Becky have a key to the apartment? Why would she need to knock on the door? Could someone else be at the door? Who is it? Tawny? The oncologist? Bridgette? Wouldn't it be a hoot if it was Bridgette?
Episode Date: Thursday, May 11, 2000 At Stephanie's guest house, Kimberly bitched to Rick about Brooke's coming on to Thorne. Kimberly said his mother had no morals. When Rick told his girlfriend that he knew about Brooke's involvement with Thorne, Kimberly assumed he had blasted his mother as well. Rick explained that just as Kimberly had never given up on their relationship, his mother had not given up on Thorne. He believed his mother truly loved Thorne. Kimberly said their situations were nothing alike. Rick didn't love Amber. Macy and Thorne did love each other and shared a ten year history. Kimberly said she would do what was necessary to stop Brooke from ruining her sister's marriage. Rick said he had to support his mom and he wasn't sure she was wrong. Rick suggested he and Kimberly stay out of the battle. Kimberly said she knew Thorne had chosen Macy and she was going to help her sister any way she could. In Brooke's office, Macy said Thorne was not married to her because
of her alcoholism. Brooke said she had stayed away from Thorne - not
because she had to but because she respected Thorne's decision. But
it was now evident that Thorne really loved Brooke and was only protecting
Macy. Macy responded that Thorne married her because he wanted to. Brooke
asked if it was the kind of love Macy truly wanted. Brooke accused Macy
of being dependent on Thorne for her sobriety. Macy denied the accusation,
but Brooke said Thorne had told her that Macy had come close to drinking
that week. Brooke told Macy she was strong and had stayed clean for
several years on her own. She didn't need Thorne. If Macy truly loved
Thorne, she'd let him go. Macy blew up and said Thorne had promised
to never hurt her and she knew he meant it. Macy told Brooke to back
off from Thorne or she would have to deal with the wrath of her and
the entire Forrester family. Macy dared Brooke to keep it coming because
she'd "
..like nothing more than to flush you down that sewer
you've spent most of your life in." (Now that was harsh, girlfriend.)
Macy said she would destroy Brooke if she didn't stay away from her
husband. On the way home from Santa Barbara, CJ stopped at the same fast food joint for burgers. He encouraged Becky to eat and told her she didn't have to pretend to feel good. He could tell she was in pain. Becky said she didn't mind the pain. She was so happy she needed some challenges in her life. With those words, the pain became unbearable and she screamed. CJ freaked and encouraged Becky to take deep breaths. (She's not giving birth, Sherlock.) Meanwhile at the seedy apartment, Stephanie suggested Amber answer the knock on the door. Amber was afraid to face her cousin but only found Eric when she finally opened the door. He was surprised to learn that Amber had not told CJ the truth before he left with Becky for Santa Barbara. Amber could feel that her cousin was in pain. She realized Becky had not had her pain medication in two days. (That settles it. Becky and CJ were in Santa Barbara for two days. I'm not certain that's how many day's we've seen and I still want to know if they had sex.) The sad sack crew stood around and discussed how tragic the entire situation was (now that's really productive) when there was another knock on the door. Amber found CJ on the other side. He explained that Becky had gone to the drug store on the corner to buy something to settle her stomach. CJ entered the seedy apartment and found his mother, Stephanie and Eric there. Bright boy that he is, he sensed something was amiss and asked for them to explain. They all suggested they wait until Becky arrived, but CJ demanded to know right away. Amber assured him that Little Eric was fine. Sally finally agreed to tell CJ the truth. But before they could talk, they decided it would be best for everyone to fix a concerned look on their face and stare and CJ. (Again, a very productive move.)
Episode Date: Friday, May 12, 2000 In a couple of throw away scenes in Sally's office, Clarke told Darla about Becky's condition. Darla couldn't believe someone as good as Becky would be stricken with such a horrible disease. They agreed the truth would destroy CJ.
In the chapel (which I guess is right next door to the drug store around the corner from the seedy apartment) Becky thanked God for her son and for CJ. She assumed her pain might be God's way of reminding her life would not always be easy. She promised to support CJ in anything God might have planned for him. If her current pain was a sacrifice she had to endure for anything she had done, Becky said she would gladly bear it. In a parting oblation, Becky thanked God for how wonderful the Spectra and Forrester families had been to her. She asked God to use her to bring the two feuding families together. "Use me as an instrument of your peace. I'll do whatever is required" Becky pleaded. (OK, what was all that about? When did Becky get religion? Who was that spooky minister? Shades of Touched By an Angel again?)
CJ hid Becky's pain pills in his pocket when she arrived. He explained the Amber had left to take Little Eric for a walk. Becky started to go after them but CJ stopped her. Becky could see CJ was upset and asked him what was the matter. At this point, Mr. Smartypants would normally make some catty comment about CJ and Becky staring at each other and not saying anything until Monday. Instead, I have to say I cried during today's episode. Mick Cain (CJ) was phenomenal as he cried upon learning that Becky was going to die. The tears weren't forced and you could see the confusion and pain in his face. It's days like today that remind me why I am addicted to this program and the genre of soap operas in general.
Episode Date: Monday, May 15, 2000
Apparently, Morgan didn't want Taylor to continue so she burst into the office. Morgan substantiated Taylor's statement she had decided to go through with the insemination process. Morgan said she was going to do it today. (TODAY? It's the middle of the night, for crying in your beer. Does Dr. Palmer run a 24-hour insemination clinic? I thought New York was the city that never slept.) Taylor warned Morgan that having a child may not solve her problems. Morgan was confident that "loving" the child would solve her woes. She begged Taylor and Ridge to be with her during the insemination procedure. She was afraid of the doctor's office. Taylor agreed to help her out. At the Forrester mansion, Amber worried she should have been there to help CJ tell Becky the truth. Stephanie, Sally and Eric agreed CJ would do what was best. Alone, Eric and Sally agreed Amber had shown great courage keeping Becky's illness a secret but it was time for her cousin to learn the truth.
CJ told Becky he would always be there for her and made her promise
never to shut him out. Becky worried that CJ's sweet talk meant something
was wrong. CJ insisted that she was his number one priority and he would
be there for her son for his entire life. Becky was stunned by CJ's
comment. She said she secretly dreamed of spending their life together
but didn't want to move too fast. She never wanted to pressure him.
CJ said he had thought of marriage as well. They agreed their wedding
day would be beautiful. "I don't want this to end" CJ said as he hugged Becky. "It doesn't have to" was Becky's reply. CJ was determined not to let it end. He got down on one knee and asked a stunned Becky to marry him. Now I don't mean to be a Mr. Smartypants (well, OK, yes I do) but I could just smell that one coming from the opening scene today. What a surprise!
Episode Date: Tuesday, May 16, 2000 Morgan and Taylor were chatting in Dr. Palmer's office. (Just as I
suspected, it is a 24 hour fertility clinic - for all your insemination
needs.) While Ridge was parking the car, Taylor looked over the profile
of the sperm donor Morgan had selected. (#31677) As Taylor read aloud,
she realized Morgan had picked a man that looked identical to Ridge.
"This could be my husband" Taylor commented. Ridge entered
the office and wanted to take a gander at the profile as well. Morgan
would not let him. She said she was embarrassed. She told them that
the father-to-be was a graphic designer and played the guitar. (Just
like Ridge, although he hasn't played the ol' guitar in quite some time.
Pity!) Morgan thanked the couple for coming to support her even though
she knew they thought that having a baby wasn't the right thing for
her At the Forrester mansion, Amber wanted to call the seedy apartment to find out how things were going. Stephanie wondered if perhaps they should have stayed to help CJ tell Becky the truth. Sally gave a big old sentimental speech about how much CJ had grown in his love for Becky. Sally was certain her son would say just the right things. She thought the two young lovers needed some time alone together to process the information. They all agreed they would need to be strong for Becky's sake. As Sally telephoned Darla, Amber worried that Becky would disappear. Stephanie said she would live forever in their memories. The foursome (plus Little Eric) packed it up and returned to the seedy apartment. But before they got there, Becky was surprised that CJ proposed marriage.
"Please spend the rest of your life with me" CJ pleaded. Becky
didn't take him seriously and said she would someday. CJ insisted it
had to be immediately. Becky was skeptical of CJ's motives, but he explained
that she had made him feel this way. She insisted he didn't have to
marry her. He said he wanted to marry her. Becky continued to argue
but CJ said he knew the time was right. He asked if she didn't feel
the same way about him. Becky sighed and said she knew he was the one
for her but didn't see any hurry because they had all the time in the
world. "No we don't!" CJ screamed. Becky was puzzled but CJ
covered by saying no one ever knew how much time was left. That's why
he wanted to live each moment with Becky as his wife. Becky admitted
the idea sounded good but what would happen when reality set in. CJ
promised to be there to take care of her when that happened. He swore
she would never be alone. They shared a kiss. Becky still wanted to wait until CJ finished school. CJ took her in his arms and asked her to picture them dancing at their wedding. He told her that if they were married, what they had would be forever. Becky cried as she told him that her final wish at the wishing well had been for their love to last forever. With that, she agreed to marry him. They kissed and hugged as Amber, Sally, Stephanie, Eric and Little Eric walked through the door. Amber saw Becky hugging CJ and crying. (But she's happy, not sad, Amber.) Becky turned and saw her cousin. Amber stretched out her arms and said "Oh, Becky, I'm so sorry." As they two cousins embraced, Becky was perplexed by Amber's cryptic message and CJ hung his head in despair. How are they going to talk their way out of this mess?
Episode Date:Wednesday, May 17, 2000 At the seedy apartment, Becky asked why Amber said she was sorry. Amber looked at CJ and asked if he had told her. CJ covered Amber's faux pas by saying since Becky was crying, Amber must have thought they had broken up. Becky happily told the assembled throng the exact opposite was true. She and CJ were going to get married. Sally was bowled over and asked to speak to CJ privately.
Back in the living room, Amber said the marriage proposal was a surprise. Stephanie asked if she didn't think CJ was being impulsive. Becky told how CJ had gotten serious after they returned from Santa Barbara and told how he would always be there to take care of her. She had tried to talk him out of it but knew he was determined. Amber asked if marrying CJ was what she wanted. Becky replied that she knew her relationship with CJ was forever. Amber confidently said they would make it happen. Stephanie and Amber then joined Sally and CJ in the bedroom. Amber agreed that they could not tell Becky the truth now. Stephanie said it would not be fair to Becky to keep her in the dark any longer. CJ replied that nothing about the situation was fair. Marrying Becky was all he had to give her to make her last few weeks as happy as possible. He pleaded with Sally and Stephanie to help him with Becky's last chance at happiness. They foolishly agreed. Everyone returned to the living room as Becky experienced another stomach
pain. Becky said she would not marry CJ without Sally's blessing. Sally
said it marrying her son was what Becky truly wanted, she would give
it. Becky was ecstatic as CJ silently thanked his mother. I just want to say I think this may be the stupidest thing I've ever seen. I can see how half of Pine Valley on All My Children could keep a baby's paternity from Jake. But how on earth can the entire Forrester clan keep cancer a secret from a woman who's constantly in pain. Oh, I forgot. Becky must be as stupid as this storyline. Meanwhile, across town at the 24-hour fertility clinic, Morgan entered the exam room in a suitably unflattering hospital gown. Ridge and Taylor comforted her nerves. Dr. Palmer arrived to begin the procedure. He explained how the insemination process took place in excruciating detail. (Yawn!) He said there would be a 15% chance of success, but they could try as many as 6 times. Morgan didn't think she could endure the procedure more than once. As Morgan got on the exam table, Ridge started to leave the room, but Morgan begged him to stay. Morgan could not relax as Dr. Palmer started to do his thing. Taylor tried a relaxation technique, but Morgan could not take it easy. After several failed attempts to begin, Morgan sprang from the table, announced she would not go through with it, and bolted through the door. Omigawd! Where is Morgan headed in that hospital gown?
Episode Date: Thursday, May 18, 2000 New day! New day! New clothes for everybody!
Across town at the seedy apartment, Amber prepared yet another smoothie with Becky's pain medication blended in. (I'm not sure my dear readers around the world know what a smoothie is. Generally, smoothies are prepared with fresh fruit, fruit juice and crushed ice mixed together in a blender. Sometimes frozen yogurt is added. Here in the United States we have stores that sell nothing but smoothies. It's a fad. It can't last much longer. They have the staying power of pet rocks and mood rings.) Becky awoke and told Amber she hadn't slept last night because she had been so excited about marrying CJ. Becky knew Amber was concerned about Becky's health. Becky thought she only had the flu and promised she would feel better before the weeding. Becky even commented that she didn't look too good. Amber convinced her to go back to sleep and rest.
Becky entered the living room. She thought she had heard CJ's voice. Amber told her cousin CJ would return. Amber told Becky she wanted her to have Stephanie's lovely wedding gown. Becky said she couldn't accept the gift. It was Amber's dress. Amber insisted it was Becky's dress now. Back over at Spectra Fashions, CJ entered his mother's office just as Clarke told Sally that CJ was not going to marry Becky. CJ informed his father he was definitely going to marry his dying fiancée. (Now that's a soap opera tradition if I've ever heard one.)
Episode Date: Friday, May 19, 2000 CJ and his father continued to discuss CJ's marriage proposal to Becky. Clarke argued that Becky deserved to know the truth about her condition. CJ said he would tell her she was dying right after their wedding. Clarke wanted to know if CJ would have asked Becky to marry him if she weren't sick. CJ said he would have asked her someday, but they didn't have the luxury of time. CJ pointed out that he didn't need Clarke's permission to get married. Clarke replied that was true, but he did want his approval. Clarke said CJ didn't have to marry Becky to make her happy. CJ argued that he did and Sally agreed. Clarke asked CJ how he thought Becky would feel when she learned she was going to die right after getting married. She wouldn't want to leave CJ a widower. Clarke also pointed out that once they were married, Little Eric would be CJ's son. CJ admitted he hadn't thought about that fact. Clarke said it wasn't fair to allow Becky to make plans for a future that didn't exist. CJ agreed it wasn't fair as he left his mother's office. Over at the seedy apartment, Becky thanked Amber for the dress but
decided she could not accept it once she learned it had been Stephanie's
wedding gown. Amber convinced her cousin to take the dress because it
was a "lucky dress." (WHAT? Yeah, it was real lucky for Stephanie.
Her husband divorced her for a woman less than half his age after 25
years of marriage. And we all know how lucky Amber was after wearing
the gown. What on earth is Amber talking about?) But stupid Becky believed
her and tried on the dress. Amber cried because Becky looked like an
angel. Becky thanked Amber for doing so much for her.
Amber disappeared and Becky was alone in the apartment experiencing some big time pain when CJ knocked on the door. Becky stalled until the pain subsided and then opened the door. CJ said his father didn't want them to get married. Becky agreed that perhaps they had not thought the situation through. CJ said he wanted to marry Becky but he couldn't until he did something. That something was presenting her with a ring. He explained that it was more than an engagement ring, it was an eternity ring. It meant they would be together forever, not just a lifetime. CJ stated he wanted to get married right away. Becky cried. They kissed.
Episode Date: Monday, May 22, 2000 In response to Morgan's bombshell that she wanted Ridge to father her child, Taylor said it was out of the question. Morgan said she only wanted Ridge to be a sperm donor. The child would never know the truth of his/her parentage. Morgan asked if Taylor was upset. Taylor replied she was more confused than upset. She didn't understand how Morgan could ask such a "favor" from her and Ridge. Morgan explained that she wanted the father of her child to be someone she knew, admired and respected. She planned to leave town once she got pregnant to start a new life. Morgan even offered to draw up legal papers making her the sole parent. Morgan insisted she had no designs on Ridge. (Designs. Morgan and Ridge are designers. Get it?) Morgan pleaded with Taylor to give her this "precious gift." (If Ridge is only donating sperm, I don't think you're going to actually get his "precious gift.") Taylor asked Morgan not to put her in a difficult position. Morgan said she wouldn't ask such a favor if Ridge and Taylor weren't totally devoted to each other. Morgan asked what Taylor was afraid of. Taylor insisted she wasn't afraid. She was uncomfortable with the suggestion and she was certain Ridge would never go for the idea. Morgan begged her "best friend" to think about the idea. Taylor asked Morgan to give her some time. (Oh, just wait until Stephanie gets a load of this scheme. She's going to hit the ceiling!)
At the beach bungalow, Macy lay awake in bed and thought about Brooke telling her that Thorne was only married to her to keep her from drinking. On the other side of the bed, Thorne dreamed of being alone in the steam room with Brooke. But this time, he didn't pull away. In his dream, he and Brooke kissed passionately and did the big nasty on the wooden bench. (No splinters, I hope.) Thorne was awaken by Macy licking his chest. (Have they even brushed their teeth yet? Morning breath - ick!) Macy suggested Thorne make love to her. In fact she wanted to start a family that very morning! Thorne didn't want to rush into having a baby. He asked if Macy's sudden desire to have a child was a reaction to her conversation with Brooke. He asked if she was insecure in their relationship. Macy was offended and asked Thorne not to ruin the moment. Thorne noticed he was late for the buyer's meeting with Brooke. (Macy had turned off the alarm.) He bolted from the bed. (And I just want to point out that Thorne has the smallest nipples I have ever seen on a man.) Macy followed Thorne to the kitchen where she found him packing up all the liquor in the house. (For an alcoholic's home, they sure had lots of booze sitting around.) Thorne said he was trying to help her by removing temptation from the house. Macy complained that he was treating her like a child. Thorne insisted he only wanted to help. He picked up the huge box of liquor bottles and left.
Meanwhile, back in the bungalow kitchen, Kimberly (with new, brunette hair) paid Macy a visit. Macy complained that Thorne didn't trust her. Kimberly thought Thorne was only trying to help her, but Macy thought a husband should want more than that. Macy asked if perhaps Brooke was right. Maybe Thorne did view his marriage to Macy as an obligation. Kimberly insisted her hair color was natural . I mean, she insisted Thorne truly loved Macy. Macy opened the cupboard to get coffee and found one last liquor bottle Thorne had forgotten in his haste. As Macy gazed lovingly at the bottle and stroked it gently, Kimberly got all freaked out and told Macy she was spooking her. (Kimberly, honey, that new hair color is spooking me. Can we soften it just a little?)

Meanwhile, Rick continued to rail against Thorne in Brooke's office. Rick asked why Thorne was married to Macy if he truly loved Brooke. Thorne said it wasn't all the easy. Rick said he understood perfectly. Rick did not want any excuses. Thorne had an obligation to Brooke as well. Thorne said he wasn't happy with the situation. Rick insisted he change the situation, then. Rick said staying with Macy just to protect her from drinking was a lousy reason to stay married - especially if he loved another woman. ("Hello, Kettle? This is the pot. You're black.") Rick guessed Macy already knew the truth about Thorne's feelings. He was sure that would cause her to drink, too. Rick screamed that he would fight to the end to protect his mother and his family. (What on earth is he talking about?) Rick pointed out that Macy would want children and that would make matters worse. Thorne said the entire situation was none of Rick's business. Thorne insisted Brooke would be fine. Rick snorted that Ridge used to say the same thing. Thorne warned Rick not to compare him to Ridge. Rick egged Thorne on by saying he was actually worse than Ridge. They half-brothers started pushing each other when Brooke entered. Brooke was horrified at the sight of her lover and son fighting. Rick said he used to admire Thorne but now saw him as pathetic. Rick added that Thorne didn't deserve to have Brooke's love. Rick said Thorne was a fool to throw away the relationship after all they had been through. (Uh, how does Rick know everything they've been through?) "You are a loser! You stay away from my mother" Rick bellowed. Thorne asked to speak to Brooke alone. Rick reluctantly left the office. Alone with Brooke, Thorne admitted that Rick was correct. It was time for him to leave Macy. "God help me, I love you" Thorne whispered. Brooke was delighted as the couple kissed.
Kimberly high-tailed if over to Spectra Fashions to tell Sally about Macy's near vodka tonic. (Honey, didn't you consider that calling on the telephone might have saved a little time?) Sally asked why Macy was so upset. Kimberly replied that Macy was afraid she was losing her marriage.
Oh, Macy, at least show some class and buy some cranberry juice cocktail. You can make delicious Cape Cods. They are such a nice, summery drink.

Meanwhile, in Brooke's office at Forrester Creations, Thorne professed
his love to Miss Logan. They kissed. He admitted Rick was right about
how he should treat Brooke better. They kissed. Brooke joked that it
was time he came to his senses. They kissed. Thorne said he could not
live without Brooke. They kissed. Thorne said he had tried to be someone
he couldn't be - Macy's savior. They kissed. Brooke was glad it was
over. They kissed. Thorne said he Back at Forrester, Brooke glowed in her office. She looked up as Macy entered wearing those huge sunglasses again. Brooke was startled. "You look frightened, Brooke" said Macy. "You should be." Now we didn't actually see Macy take a drink, but she's looking pretty cocky here. I hope she took my advice and made some tasty Cape Cods. A little wedge of lime makes them even better - and ever so festive!
Episode Date: Thursday, May 25, 2000 At the seedy apartment, Amber force fed Becky yet another drugged-up smoothie as CJ arrived. Becky said she had convinced CJ's dad to give his permission for them to get married. CJ expressed his gratitude with a huge kiss and a hug. Becky started to list all the items they had to cover to prepare for their wedding next week (NEXT WEEK?) but Amber said she had already called the florist, the bakery and the chapel. Becky was a little miffed that Amber had taken over the plans. CJ convinced his fiancée that Amber was only trying to help. Becky apologized and said she would try to feel better by their wedding day.
At Forrester Creations, Brooke asked Macy why she had come to her office.
Macy said she wanted her husband. They had started to make a baby that
morning, but Thorne had run off to a meeting with Brooke. Brooke told
Macy that Thorne had gone home, not to make love to her, but to tell
her the marriage was over. Macy got in At the beach bungalow, Thorne's glass sniffing was interrupted by Sally's arrival. Sally told Thorne she knew about everything that happened in Venice. Sally chastised Thorne for keeping it a secret from Macy. She explained how Kimberly had feared Macy would take a drink. Sally was concerned what Thorne's shenanigans had done to her daughter. Thorne said he was not responsible for Macy's sobriety. He wanted to tell her that she needed to find the strength from within to resist temptation and not depend on him. Sally lectured that a marriage had to be nurtured. Macy was going through a rough time right then and needed Thorne's support. Sally told Thorne she would hold him personally responsible if Macy started drinking again. At that moment, Brooke called to tell Thorne Macy was in her office. Thorne hung up the phone before Brooke could get into the juicy details. Thorne rushed out the door, leaving a quizzical Sally behind. While Brooke was on the phone with Thorne, Macy pulled what looked like a two liter vodka bottle from her purse (it was a very large purse) and started to chug-a-lug. Brooke screamed in horror and grabbed the industrial size bottle from Macy and poured the remaining liquid in her waste basket. A pathetic Macy grabbed the bottle and tilted it toward her lips, trying to get every precious drop. (No more Cape Cods, I guess.) Macy screamed that she hated Brooke and wanted her to stay out of her life and her marriage. When Brooke said Thorne was on his way over, Macy accused Brooke of wanting Thorne to see her in an inebriated condition to ruin their chances at being happy. Macy ordered Brooke to get her some sober-up coffee. As Brooke was leaving her office, Thorne arrived. Thorne couldn't believe the sight of his drunken wife. Macy was ashamed and hid her face. Thorne took Macy in his arms and held her. Brooke looked on as that single, perfect tear trickled down her left cheek. (As only the lovely Brooke can do.)
Episode Date: Friday, May 26, 2000 From Eric's office, Stephanie spoke on the telephone with Amber. Amber explained that Becky's parents were coming to Los Angeles to meet CJ. Stephanie implored Amber to tell them Becky was dying of cancer even though CJ wanted to hide the truth from them. After hanging up the telephone, Stephanie and Eric agreed it was a no-win situation. Stephanie told Eric (and the audience, since we didn't know any of this had happened) that Becky had grown close to her parents again since she had returned to LA and obtained custody of Little Eric. (That's to tell us why Pete and Tillie, Becky's parents, care anything about her getting married.) Stephanie and Eric agreed that Becky's folks had to know the truth to give them time with their child before she died. They understood CJ wanted to make Becky's dreams come true, but it could not be at the expense of her parents.
Becky decided to run some wedding errands and give her parents time to "bond" with CJ. Alone with Amber and CJ, Joe asked why the two teens kept giving each other "looks." Amber said they had to be told the truth, but CJ tried to stop her. Tillie demanded to know what was going on. (Hold that thought, would ya, Tillie?) In Brooke's office at Forrester Creations, Thorne was upset to learn that Macy had driven to Forrester in an intoxicated condition. Macy promised not to drink again because she now realized that was what Brooke wanted. Macy figured Brooke had played on her insecurities to get her to drink again and then thought she could steal Thorne away from her. Macy told Thorne that Brooke had told her their marriage was over. Thorne asked Macy how she could start drinking after she had been sober for six years. Macy insisted she had stopped before, she could stop again. Macy accused Brooke of setting her up. Thorne said Macy could not blame Brooke for her problems. Macy sarcastically snarled that Brooke had never been the problem between Stephanie and Eric or Ridge and Taylor. "She just always happened to be in the right place at the right time in the right underwear" Macy noted. (Ouch! Even drunk, Macy can come up with a good zinger.) Macy told Brooke to leave Thorne alone or there would be consequences. Brooke asked if that was a threat. Macy said Brooke fail on her own. She was a three-time lose with the Forrester men. Macy said she and Thorne had been in love since the day they met and it would take more than Brooke's cheap seduction routines to break them up. Macy insisted to Thorne that Brooke was her problem. She begged Thorne to tell Brooke to back off and leave them alone. Macy cried that she couldn't take it anymore. As Thorne hugged his wife, he looked over her shoulder and gave Brooke a pained look. (He looked like he shouldn't have eaten the sushi at the Forrester cafeteria that day.)
Episode Date: Monday, May 29, 2000 In her office, Brooke suggested Thorne take the inebriated Macy home. Macy would not leave before Thorne told Brooke he would never be interested in her. Thorne told Macy that Brooke was not the issue. Brooke told Macy that Thorne would not deny his love for Brooke because it wasn't true. Macy insisted that she and Thorne had something real and would not give it up for a cheap slut like Brooke. Macy said she had been foolish to have reached out to Brooke. She said Thorne had realized Brooke would destroy him like she had ruined his father and brother. Brooke admitted that she could see that Thorne loved Macy very much. Macy told Brooke not to make any promises to stay away from Thorne because her words meant nothing. Macy warned Brooke that if she crossed her again, she would pay. (Such threats, Macy.) Thorne escorted Macy from the office and left Brooke alone to cry.
As Thorne watched Macy passed out on the bed (oh, I'm sorry, she was merely resting), he called Brooke. He told her that he should have been honest with Macy from the beginning. Thorne said he wasn't going to let this drag on, but he couldn't leave Macy in her current state. Brooke agreed and they told each other "I love you."
Back at the seedy apartment, Amber told Joe and Tillie the truth. Becky had pancreatic cancer, she only had a couple of months to live and she did not know the truth about her condition. Becky's parents were devastated by the news and forbade CJ to marry their daughter. Amber explained that they had not told Becky the truth because she had been so happy. CJ had proposed to give her something beautiful to remember. Joe said he could not be a part of feeding Becky lies. CJ begged them to allow the wedding to happen. He truly loved Becky and all he had to give her was one, perfect day. He admitted he wouldn't have married Becky this soon, but he knew they were meant to be together. Joe screamed that he could not pretend that everything was all right when he knew his daughter was dying. He instructed Tillie and Amber to help him pack Becky's things. He intended to take her and Little Eric back to Furnace Creek that night.
I am a cynic, but today's episode had be crying like a baby. I have not cried like that during a soap opera since Erica watched Mike Roy die on All My Children in 1985. Today's episode was masterfully written and superbly acted by Adrienne Frantz (Amber) and Mick Cain (CJ.) I hope Bradley Bell has signed Mr. Cain to a long term contract. It's about damn time this wonderful actor had a good story line worth his abundant talent. Let's keep him around for a long time.
Episode Date: Tuesday, May 30, 2000 It must be the next day in Los Angeles because everyone is wearing new clothes.
At that very moment in the bedroom, Thorne had called Brooke at her office. (Four previously unknown Forrester employees visited Brooke in her office today. I suppose that was to convince us that Brooke actually does do some work besides moving file folders around her office every once in a while.) Brooke asked if Thorne had told Macy the truth about his feelings for Brooke. Thorne apologized that he had not told Macy. He said he wanted to make sure Macy's drinking was under control first. Thorne did tell Brooke, however, that he would soon leave Macy. Brooke expressed pity for Macy. This situation was not Macy's fault. They exchanged "I love you's" and hung up the phone. Thorne entered the living room and joined Kimberly in her concern for Macy. Macy said she and Thorne were doing better now than ever. Thorne disagreed and said she needed to take her drinking problem more seriously. Macy said she felt awful about losing the trust of her husband and sister. She admitted it was her own fault and said she would prove herself to them again. Thorne said he had to run some errands and left Kimberly with Macy. Thorne arrived at Brooke's office and they embraced. (Some errand, eh Thorne?) Thorne told Brooke that she came first in his life but he had to make sure Macy was going to be all right. Brooke was anxious for them to be together. Thorne assured her it would be soon - and it would be forever. (Or until another Forrester male shows up on the scene.) The smooched noisily.
At Mr. and Mrs. Ridge Forrester's Bel Air mansion, Taylor told Ridge that Morgan had suggested he donate sperm for her baby project. At first, Ridge didn't believe Taylor and was blown away to hear that Taylor had told Morgan she would think about it. Taylor said she wasn't comfortable with the idea, but understood Morgan's situation. Taylor asked Ridge if he were single and Morgan was his friend, would he help her father a child. Ridge replied "Maybe" but Taylor didn't really think he'd go for it. Ridge thought the point was moot because he didn't think Morgan was serious. Oh yes she is, Ridge. Morgan arrived a little while later and told the duo she was sure the three of them could make it work. She begged Ridge to consider her proposal.
Episode Date:Wednesday, May 24, 2000 At the Bel Air mansion, Ridge and Taylor told Morgan they understood her desperate desire to have a child, but Ridge said he could not be the father of her child. Morgan begged him to reconsider. She explained that she only wanted a sperm sample and a doctor would inseminate her. Taylor reminded Morgan that she previously could not handle that procedure. Morgan said it would be different this time because she would be regaining what she had lost many years ago. Ridge reiterated that he just didn't feel right about the situation. Morgan said she would have lawyers draw up papers and would even leave town if she had to. Morgan cried that she would give up anything to have a child. Taylor gently said she should not have to give up something to give birth. Ridge said he would feel strange having a child that he didn't even know. Morgan said he could be involved in the child's life if he wished. She would agree to any terms. She pleaded with Ridge to think about it some more. Morgan explained she would be ovulating in a few days. (Hey, didn't she try to get inseminated two days ago? Again, I'm no expert on women's reproductive cycles, but I think she'd be needing to wait a month, no? Are they trying to tell me a month has passed? Do they think I don't pay attention?) Taylor encouraged Morgan not to drag out the situation. Ridge said he didn't want to hurt Morgan and it had nothing to do with them trusting her. Morgan said they would not regret it if they agreed to her plan. Taylor finally put her foot down and said "I have no doubt you'd make a wonderful mother. You just can't be the mother of my husband's child. I'm sorry." "So am I" replied Morgan.
After Thorne left, Rick visited his mother and was happy, but somewhat skeptical, to hear that Thorne was going to leave Macy.
"Brooke Logan is a vicious, cunning seductress" Macy intoned but was certain Thorne would not fall for her. John, Macy's Alcoholic's Anonymous counselor, arrived and Sally prepared to leave. On her way out the door, she bumped into Thorne. Sally was cold to her son-in-law and told him he had better not let Macy down.
