Up at the Forrester cabin in Big Bear, Thorne was impressed with how nicely the cabin was decorated and how beautiful Macy looked. Macy made sure Thorne knew that she was not drunk. She explained that she didn't want to fight him anymore. Macy recalled the Serenity Prayer she had learned in Alcoholics Anonymous. (God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; the courage to change the things I can and the wisdom to know the difference.) Macy admitted she could not change Thorne's feelings and she now knew that. She graciously said all she wanted was his happiness and if he thought he'd be happy with Brooke, then it would be OK with Macy. (Geez! Is she a saint or what?) Thorne was speechless at Macy's selflessness. Macy reminisced about their romantic past. (She even brought up their three weddings!) She didn't want their relationship to end with a horrible scene. She asked Thorne to have dinner with her at the cabin that night and share one last dance. She had already made arrangements to check in to a rehabilitation clinic the next day. Macy said he would then be free to start a new life with Brooke. Thorne agreed and they sat down at the table. Thorne said they had been through so much together and each trial had made them both stronger. They toasted (with what looked like water) to their past as husband and wife and to their future as friends.
Mr. Smartypants note: Ronn Moss (Ridge) performed in the musical group, Player, in the 1970's. The band had a #1 record, titled "Baby Come Back", in January 1978. I tell you this, dear readers, because I have often wanted to include this reference in my updates. The screen capture today was too good of an opportunity to pass up. I thought I should explain the reference, however. Now, I'll use it more often.
(Yeah, that's easy to say now. Let's just wait until the poop hits the fan, shall we?)

Over at Brooke's house, Ms. Logan told Jonathan, the lawyer, that Thorne was up at the Big Bear cabin helping Macy face reality. Brooke told Jonathan she was going to take the divorce papers up to the cabin and leave them for Thorne. Jonathan highly advised against such action. Brooke explained Macy and Thorne's marriage was going to end that night. Meanwhile, up at the Forrester cabin, Macy and Thorne shared a delightful dinner. Macy dropped some sauce on her bosom and Thorne wiped it up for her. He old her she was beautiful and classy. Macy apologized she had not been so gracious throughout the ordeal with Brooke. Thorne said Macy's actions were understandable. Macy explained she was entering rehab the next day and then might move to the east coast. (MOVE? I don't much like that idea, Macy.) As the couple remembered their lives together, Thorne recalled the guest at the Café Ruse nearly choking on Macy's engagement ring hidden in an oyster. Macy thought this evening may be their finest moment. Thorne offered her a dance. Macy selected "When I Fall In Love" for their dance because it was their song. (It is? I've been watching a long time, honey, and I don't think I've ever heard you refer to that song once. And what's worse, it was Macy singing on the CD!) Macy couldn't finish the dance and broke away in tears. Thorne hugged her for comfort. Macy told Thorne it was time for him to leave. She planned to spend the night at the cabin to clear her mind. She would call her mother in the morning to come and get her.
"I know. I know" Macy responded. Thorne gently kissed her as she said "You better go." "Macy .thank you" were Thorne's parting words. Alone in the cabin, Macy contemplated what had transpired and cried with a smile. There was suddenly a noise at the door. Thinking Thorne had returned, Macy opened the door and found Brooke attempting to slide something inside. Brooke apologized for the intrusion and asked if Thorne was inside. Macy explained he had just left and asked Brooke what was in the envelope. Brooke said it was "nothing." Macy grabbed the envelope and found the divorce papers inside. Macy was incredulous that Brooke would bring divorce papers to her at the cabin. (This could develop into a nice cat fight, I'd say.)
Episode Date: Wendesday, July 5, 2000 Amber and CJ returned to the seedy apartment with Little Eric. From
their conversation, we learned they had attended Becky's funeral in
Furnace Creek. (And we weren't invited. How tacky!) They remembered
how wonderful Becky was. Amber offered to let CJ "crash" at
the seedy apartment that night. CJ offered to "stick around"
for awhile to help Amber take care of Little Eric. Amber agreed. As
they cleaned up some of Becky's belongings, they found a video cassette
tape Becky had made for them to view! Thorne called Sally on his cell phone from a diner in the mountains. The connection was not good, but he told her everything with Macy had gone well and he was returning to Los Angeles that night. He told her he would call her back when her arrived in LA. Kimberly was at Sally's place and took Thorne's message to mean things had gone well between Macy and him. Sally wanted to drive to Big Bear to check on Macy, but felt she should wait for CJ to return from Becky's funeral. Kimberly offered to drive to the cabin and left. (But how did she know how to get there? She's never been there. Are there huge directional signs every ten miles that say "Forrester Cabin in Big Bear, Exit Here"?) But up at that cabin, Macy accused Brooke of rushing the termination of her marriage to Thorne. Brooke assumed Macy had been trying to seduce Thorne, but Macy told her nemesis that she had merely been trying to have a quiet, dignified good bye with Thorne. Macy was angry that Brooke had ruined her perfect evening. Brooke apologized for misunderstanding the situation. Macy yelled that she knew Brooke would ruin Thorne's life and ordered her to leave the cabin. But silly ol' Brooke just could leave well enough alone. Oh no, she handed Macy the divorce papers and asked her to sign them!
Episode Date: Thursday, July 6, 2000 Amber and CJ watched the video tape Becky had made for them. From her clothing, they realized she had made it the day she died. On the video, she told them she wanted them to raise Little Eric together. She told Amber to find a good man. She told CJ to find another woman to love. Becky hinted that Amber and CJ should hook up. Amber was uncomfortable with the possible suggestion and excused herself from the room after viewing the tape. CJ watched the video again and cried. From that diner in the mountains, Thorne called Jonathan, the lawyer, and left him a message not to hurry with the divorce papers. It would have been a mistake to give them to Macy that evening. (Oops!) Thorne tried to call Brooke on her cell phone, but got no answer. He got in his car and drove towards Los Angeles. A Sally called CJ at the seedy apartment and asked him to drop by the house the following day because Macy might need some support. CJ worried that Thorne had hurt his sister again. Up at the infamous Big Bear cabin, Macy pinned Brooke to the floor with her foot! Macy said she had nothing to lose. Brooke had taken her marriage, her sobriety and her pride. Brooke apologized, but Macy wasn't impressed. Brooke didn't think Macy would hurt her. Macy said she understood Brooke hadn't planned on her fighting back, but she was going to stop Thorne from making a huge mistake. Macy grabbed Brooke's car keys and ran to her car. As Macy started the engine, Brooke jumped in the passenger seat.
As Macy recklessly careened down the steep mountain roads, Brooke begged her to stop. Brooke's cell phone rang (it was Thorne's attempted call) but Macy grabbed it and threw it out the window. Macy insisted she was in control now. Brooke said it didn't matter what Macy told Thorne, he would still want to be with her (Brooke). "There's nothing you can do" Brooke said. As that phrase echoed in Macy's ears, her eyes glazed over and she floored the accelerator and drove toward oncoming headlights. Brooke hysterically suggested that Macy shouldn't pass on a curve. The screen went black and there was a horrible crashing sound! This doesn't sound good at all. Episode Date: Friday, July 7, 2000 "The role of Bridget Forrester is now being played by Jennifer Finnegan." Oh, how I love those words. AND there's a new Bridget. She's a little older than the last one. I'm figuring the child shouldn't be more than 8 years old in real years. Ah, who cares. It's B&B!
Across town, Sally and Clarke worried about Macy's well being. Kimberly called to tell them she was almost to the cabin. But on that mountain road, Brooke's car had crashed into a tanker truck with the word "flammable" stenciled on it. (Uh oh!) Macy moaned and opened her eyes. She couldn't move because her legs were pinned in the car. She turned her head and saw an unconscious Brooke bleeding profusely from a head wound. (Ick!) Macy noticed Brooke was still breathing and applied pressure to the wound. (Gross!) Driving along the road, Thorne noticed the accident and stopped his car. He was horrified when he realized it was Brooke's car. He ran to the driver's door and found Macy. When he couldn't free her from the wreckage, he went to the passenger side and found a gravely injured Brooke. Macy instructed Thorne to take Brooke to safety and stop the bleeding and then return for her. Thorne promised he would return to rescue Macy. Macy said she knew he would.
As the truck driver worked to free Macy from the car, Macy noticed gasoline leaking from the tanker. The dashboard stared to short circuit. Sparks flew everywhere. As Thorne approached the wrecked car, a huge explosion occurred - throwing him through the air. He and Kimberly were shocked at the site of an enormous fire ball engulfing the entire automobile. Now I realize this doesn't look good, dear readers, but I've seen enough soap fires to realize there were two women in the car the last time we saw it. Let's not jump to conclusions and immediately assume Macy has died. That would really bum me out, man.
Episode Date: Monday, July 10, 2000
Meanwhile, Sally and Clarke discussed Macy's marital problems at Sally's apartment. Clarke badmouthed the Forresters for causing problems in everyone's life. Sally regretted that she had not stayed with Macy at the Big Bear cabin. Sally pulled out a cheesy photo album and looked at old photos of her daughter. As Macy sang "Smile (Though Your Heart is Breaking)", Sally remembered a series of badly chosen video flashbacks to recall Macy's run on the show. (However, none of them could involve Thorne since three different actors have played the role.) Clarke encouraged Sally and told her everything would be all right. Um, I don't think so, Clarke. Up on the mountain road, Kimberly cried hysterically as Thorne approached the flaming wreckage. Brooke called for Thorne as she lay on the ground. Kimberly asked Brooke what had happened. She wanted to know why Macy and Brooke were in the car in the first place. Brooke did not respond. Paramedics arrived on the scene. Kimberly told them what had happened. The paramedics called for assistance and reported that the drivers of both vehicles were missing. (That's a clue to something if I've ever heard one.) Thorne returned to the clearing and told Kimberly he did not find Macy, but he believed she had survived. An ambulance arrived and took Brooke to the hospital. The medic said Brooke was in stable condition and would recover. Thorne told Brooke he would join her at the hospital as soon as he found Macy. Thorne and Kimberly watched the paramedics searched the fiery wreck for survivors.
Episode Date: Tuesday, July 11, 2000 Amber took Little Eric for a visit to Brooke's house. Rick and Bridget asked why the baby was up so late. Amber explained he had trouble sleeping since Becky died. Just as Bridget was wondering where Brooke was, her mother called and explained she had been in an automobile accident and was in the hospital. Rick took the phone and discovered the Macy had also been in the car wreck. When Rick explained what had happened, Amber wondered why Brooke, Macy and Thorne had all been in Big Bear. Rick quickly changed the subject. CJ arrived at Sally's apartment and learned from his mother and father that Macy had started drinking again. They hadn't told him before because he had been so consumed with Becky's illness. CJ didn't think Macy needed to go to a rehabilitation clinic. He was certain they could help her as a family. Clarke explained that Thorne wanted to divorce Macy because he was in love with Brooke. CJ was furious that Thorne had hurt Macy even after promising he never would. Sally said they should concentrate on helping Macy get better. That's going to be very hard to do. At the crash site, a fireman approached
Thorne and Kimberly and told At County Hospital, Thorne struggled to compose himself outside Brooke's room as she prayed for Macy's safety. Upon entering the room, Thorne broke down and told Brooke that Macy had died in the explosion. Brooke was shocked. She said she had tried to stop Macy from driving so recklessly. Thorne blamed himself for the tragedy. He should never have married Macy in Amsterdam. Kimberly arrived at Sally's apartment but was in such a state of shock, she couldn't speak. Dear readers: If Macy were truly, definitely dead. I would be upset. The character may indeed be dead. We may never hear from her again. But the door has been left open for her return. You may remember the evil Sheila Carter on The Young and the Restless. As her reign of terror came to an end, a meter reader went to the basement to, well, read a meter. During Lauren and Sheila's struggle, a lamp started a fire and the house burned down. Lauren and Sheila's mother survived, but Sheila was no where to be found and there was a charred body. Well, what do you know. The charred body was really the meter reader and Sheila moved to Los Angeles and appeared on our favorite, The Bold and the Beautiful. I'm just saying the partial remains could be those of the truck driver that was trying to save Macy and Macy could have escaped. Maybe not, but it's hard to get too worked up about a death when we didn't see her die. It is a soap opera, you know. Once or twice, in the history of the genre, there has been a character return from the dead.
Episode Date: Wednesday, July 12, 2000 At Brooke's house, Bridget was confused why her mother, Thorne and Macy would have all been in Big Bear together. Rick suggested they were, perhaps, having a business meeting. Amber didn't find that too convincing and asked if Thorne and Brooke were closer than anyone suspected. Bridget was insulted by Amber's inference and said the thought of her mother romantically involved with Thorne made her sick. Rick tried to calm her down, but Bridget called such a relationship "immoral" and stormed out of the house. Amber apologized for upsetting Bridget but got Rick to admit her assumption was correct. Amber worried how Bridget would handle the truth when she found out. At the County Hospital in Big Bear, Brooke blamed herself for the accident. Thorne refused such a notion. Brooke also worried how Kimberly, CJ and Sally would handle the horrible news of Macy's death. Thorne agreed it was horrible but he was glad he had arrived at the crash site when he did so he could save Brooke's life. Thorne remembered how much dignity and class Macy had. All she had ever wanted was his happiness and she had accepted his decision to end their marriage. He asked God why this had to happen. Thorne received Brooke's release papers and they prepared to leave the hospital. (That was on heck of a quick recovery from a severe head wound.) Kimberly could not speak when she entered Sally's apartment. CJ demanded to know what had upset Kimberly so much. Sally calmly asked Kimberly to explain what had happened in Big Bear. Sally assumed Macy had been drinking and Kimberly was upset about that fact. Kimberly finally blurted out that Macy was dead. She tried to explain about the accident, but Sally would not believe her. Sally thought Kimberly was simply mistaken. Sally prepared to leave and go to the cabin to get Macy herself but met two policemen at the door. They confirmed that Macy had been killed in a automobile accident. That did it. Kimberly cried softly on the couch. CJ cried and held his head. Sally wailed in Clarke's arms. It was one heck of a sad scene.
Episode Date: Thursday, July 13, 2000 Thorne sat in his beach bungalow looking at some of Macy's junk. Brooke dropped by to check on him. He said THE LAST FEW DAYS had been rough. (I guess we are to assume several days have passed since the car accident. I don't know if I've ever seen a soap opera point out that the days don't fall one right after the other.) Thorne said he had tried to call Sally, but there was no answer. Brooke and Thorne agreed Sally and the Spectra family would blame them for Macy's death. Thorne said he didn't want to implicate Brooke in the circumstances surrounding the accident. Sally, Clarke, CJ, Kimberly and Darla prepared to leave Sally's apartment for Macy's memorial service. Clarke assured Sally that he had given a guest list to the chapel and no Forresters were to be allowed. CJ blamed Thorne and Brooke for Macy's death. Kimberly only blamed Brooke. Darla cried that they should put all bitterness aside and honor Macy. Sally agreed and said she would settle all scores at a future date. CJ told his mother that if any Forrester showed up at the chapel, he would not be able to control himself.
Eric, Stephanie, Ridge and Taylor, gathered in Eric's office at Forrester Creations. Stephanie was concerned that no one had heard from Thorne. She was distraught over Macy's death. Stephanie left to rest in her office. Taylor was concerned that the truth about Thorne's relationship with Brooke could not be kept a secret from Stephanie much longer. Eric wanted to protect Stephanie's health, but agreed they had to break the news to her gently. He called Stephanie into his office, but learned from Megan that Stephanie had left the building. Ridge attempted to call Thorne's place, but Thorne had ripped his phone from the wall when a reporter called looking for gossip. Stephanie arrived and Thorne's bungalow and expressed her sympathy for Macy's death. She wanted her younger son to return to the Forrester mansion and live with her and Eric for a little while. Thorne declined and said he had to leave for Macy's memorial service. Stephanie wanted to attend as well and couldn't figure out why Sally had not informed the Forrester family about the service. Meanwhile, the Spectra family arrived at the chapel. Sally immediately rushed to the casket and fell on top of it crying. (May I ask why there is a casket at all? I thought the investigators only discovered "partial remains." Shouldn't there just be an urn or nothing at all? Just asking.) The priest told CJ that he had called Thorne and told him about the service when he noticed Thorne's name had been left off the guest list. CJ called Thorne on Thorne's cell phone (why didn't Ridge think of that?) and told him to stay away from the chapel. (CJ called Thorne a bastard, too. Pretty spicy for a funeral, wouldn't you say?) Thorne hung up the phone and vowed he would go to Macy's memorial service.
Episode Date: Friday, July 14, 2000
Brooke showed up at Eric's office at Forrester International. Eric scolded her for continuing her affair with Thorne after Eric had warned them it would end in tragedy. Eric, Ridge and Brooke agreed Stephanie had to learn the truth of the romance soon or she could hear it in the wrong way. Megan entered the office and told the trio that Stephanie had called and was on her way to Macy's funeral. Eric and Ridge left to head Stephanie off at the pass. Alone, Brooke wondered how Stephanie would react to the news of her relationship with Thorne. At the Chapel of the Sacred Family, Sally greeted guests at the door.
Roberta, Macy's Alcoholics Anonymous partner, arrived and was surprised
to learn that Thorne would not be attending the service. Alone, CJ told
Sally Thorne knew about the service. Sally implored her son to let her
handle the situation should Thorne arrive. "Thorne is the reason
we are here" CJ seethed. After everyone was seated, Sally took the podium and quoted the Bible. "Blessed are the meek for they shall inherit the earth." Sally said Macy was the meekest, kindest, gentlest, most loving person in the world. She gave so much and asked for so little. Sally continued "Blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God." Sally said she took comfort knowing that Macy was "resting in the hands of God." Sally went to the casket and cried how much she missed her daughter, but Macy had taught her to have strength to carry on. Clarke helped Sally to her seat as CJ went to the podium. He added that Macy was a fighter. She had been put through a lot in her life and nothing had defeated her. CJ said that he had recently lost his wife. On the day Becky died, he related that Macy had called and told him that things would get better and she would be there to make sure they did. Even though she was going through a rough time, Macy's family had meant everything to her. CJ cried and regretted that he had not been there to help Macy. Sally went to the front of the chapel and hugged her son.
Sally couldn't take anymore. She stood and screamed "Stop it! That's enough! How dare you stand there telling those lies. You didn't love Macy. She loved you and you took that love and you threw it away. You never loved her. Thorne Forrester, you destroyed her!" Stephanie rose and told Sally that Thorne was only saying how much he loved Macy, just as Sally and Stephanie both loved her. Eric and Ridge had arrived. Eric suggested that Stephanie leave, but she refused. Sally glared at Stephanie. "Don't you know what's been going on? There was another woman" Sally spit. Stephanie was shocked and asked Sally to explain. (I think this is the wrong way Eric feared Stephanie would hear the truth.) Episode Date: Monday, July 17, 2000
Alone in her office at Forrester Creations, Brooke remembered how Macy had intentionally wrecked the car. She was interrupted by Taylor looking for Ridge. Taylor freaked when she learned Ridge had gone to Macy's memorial service to get Stephanie. Brooke said it was too late. She was certain Sally would spill the beans because she blamed Brooke and Thorne for Macy's death. Brooke was upset that Thorne had to deal with all the problems on his own. Taylor feared that Stephanie might not survive learning the truth. Taylor was concerned that Brooke should rest to recover from her injuries. (Oh yeah, that gaping head wound.) Brooke said she couldn't even close her eyes because she feared something terrible was going to happen. At the chapel, Stephanie asked why Sally was so angry. Thorne adored Macy, she explained. Sally retorted that if Stephanie believed that, then Thorne had been lying to both her and Macy. Thorne asked all the guests to leave the chapel to give the family some privacy as CJ screamed that Thorne had killed Macy. (I would have stayed around for the side show, myself.) Stephanie thought Sally was delusional with grief. Sally asked how Thorne could have promised not to hurt Macy when it was Brooke he wanted all along.
Stephanie said she warned Thorne that Brooke would destroy the family. Thorne responded that Brooke had suffered as well. "Don't give me that crap that she's suffered" Stephanie bleated, "Who the hell is in the coffin? Don't you say to me that bitch has suffered. She should be dead, not Macy." (Uh, Stephanie, honey, you're in a church. Watch your language, OK?) Stephanie hugged Sally and they agreed how much they both loved Macy. Sally lashed out at Thorne. CJ screamed at him. Clarke told all the Forresters to leave. In the middle of the brew-ha-ha, Ridge called for help from the back of the church. Stephanie had collapsed to the floor. Dun dun duh!
Episode Date: Tuesday, July 18, 2000 Oh my goodness. It's a very stormy night in Los Angeles with lots of thunder and lightening.
At Sally's apartment, CJ and Sally badmouthed Thorne as Kimberly looked out the window at the stormy night. Sally said she wished she had listened to Adam's advice about not trusting Thorne. She was sure he would know how to handle the situation. (Speaking of Adam, remember when he returned to LA he said he had followed every step of Macy's life. How come he didn't come back for her funeral. Better yet, why didn't he return to help her out with her drinking problem. Hmmm, riddle me that.) Even though Sally didn't want Kimberly to be alone and invited her to stay at the apartment, the teen decided to go home. CJ vowed that the Forresters would pay for their role in Macy's death. Sally was confident Stephanie would recover and take care of Thorne. Sally said she would personally take care of Brooke. CJ later returned to the living room with tea for Sally but she was no where to be found.
Over at Brooke's office at Forrester Creations, Thorne reported that Stephanie didn't want anything to do with him. He feared everyone blamed him and Brooke for Macy's death, even though it was an accident. Brooke told her lover that she suspected Macy had intended to kill both Brooke and herself when she crashed the car. Thorne suggested the two of them get away from the Forresters, the Spectras and the press and leave town for a while. Thorne left to pick up some necessary items. Megan delivered the plane tickets and left as well. While Brooke was alone in her office later, the electricity went out, leaving the office in darkness. Suddenly, a cloaked figured (or is it poncho-ed) entered the room. The figure picked up a trophy and smashed a vase of flowers with it. The figure then lifted the trophy into the air as Brooke screamed. (How trashy is this? I love it!) Episode Date: Wednesday, July 19, 2000
At Café Ruse, Ash (who is apparently some sort of music star) told Amber his girlfriend would not report Amber's behavior to the management. He had bribed her to keep quiet. Ash apologized for giving her a hard time and offered Amber tickets to one of his concerts. Amber graciously refused saying she worked nights and had other commitments when she wasn't working. Ash guessed she had a boyfriend and Amber let him think her description of Little Eric was that person. Ash said he would offer her a ride but his girlfriend had taken his limousine. Amber thanked him for the offer, but said she had her car. Ash then asked Amber for a ride to where ever she was going. (She said she lived in Silver Lake, he said he had a friend in that area. And by the way, Silver Lake is not a seedy area of Los Angeles. I have several friends that live there and the rents are high.) Ash walked Amber to her apartment door. He wanted to be invited in, but Amber said Eric would be grumpy. Ash tried for a kiss, but Amber cut him off. Ash said he was sure they would meet again. CJ suddenly opened the door to take out the trash. Ash assumed he was Eric. Amber didn't correct him and introduced Ash to CJ. CJ was not impressed by the name or the man.
Brooke then guessed the intruder was Stephanie. Brooke said she couldn't be scared away from Thorne. She had done nothing wrong. She had only fallen in love with Thorne. "Liar!" the caped one growled as it smashed a bookshelf with the trophy. Brooke screamed that Thorne didn't love Macy. "He risked his life for her" the figure replied. Brooke was stunned to discover it was Kimberly under the hood! (Uh, hold on a minute. I'm not being mean here. I want us all to acknowledge that people come in a wide variety of shapes and sizes. I don't think it would be possible to mistake Kimberly for Stephanie or Sally, not matter how baggy that cape was.)
Then, out of the blue, we saw them through full height glass windows that apparently form the fourth wall of the set. (Yeah, right.) Brooke fell to the floor and her head crashed trough a pain of glass. She raised her head (not a cut to be seen) and looked up. There was broken glass dangling above her head. The scene ended as the glass came down like a guillotine.
Episode Date: Thursday, July 20, 2000 Alone in her Malibu beach house, Morgan remembered having sex with Ridge. She thought how lucky her baby would be to have a father like Ridge. Clarke dropped by for a visit. Morgan expressed her sympathy for Macy's death. Clarke explained how Kimberly was having a hard time dealing with the tragedy. Morgan said she knew what it was like to lose someone close to you and it be another person's fault. She said Kimberly would be capable of doing almost anything. (We'll get to that later.) Morgan and Clarke discussed Morgan's pregnancy and how she was now two months along. Morgan wanted to keep her pregnancy a secret as long as possible and wondered how the Forresters would react when she told them she was having a baby. Clarke told Morgan he wanted to be more than her friend and she could use his help in hiding the truth. (Hmm, pretend Clarke is the father of the baby? Not a bad idea.) Over at the seedy apartment, CJ let Amber have it for flirting with Ash. CJ said they should be trying to build a family with Little Eric and he was counting on Amber's experience to teach him the ropes. He didn't want her "out chasing rock stars like some floozy." (Floozy? Would a hip 18-year-old Californian really use a dated word like floozy? I highly doubt it.) CJ argued that Amber didn't know anything about Ash. Amber was insulted that CJ thought she couldn't take care of herself. They argued and Amber pointed out that it was her apartment and she could invite whomever she wanted to visit. CJ realized she was right. He apologized for over-reacting and said he was taking his anger over the loss of his wife and sister out on her. CJ thought it best if he left. Amber asked him to stay. She said she needed him.
Stephanie, Eric and Ridge entered Thorne's beach bungalow. Thorne wasn't home and they decided to wait for him. Stephanie lamented Brooke's involvement with her family and cursed her for causing Macy's death. Even though Ridge and Eric had tried to get Thorne to get rid of Brooke, Stephanie thought she could convince him to choose his family over Miss Logan. Thorne arrived and was glad to see his mother was all right. Stephanie said they had come to see him to help solve a family problem.
Episode Date: Friday, July 21, 2000
Thorne told his family he did not want to discuss Brooke. Stephanie
said God had kept an eye on her recently, protecting her from serious
health problems, but God could not bring Macy back. Stephanie felt Macy's
death was a wake up call to the family. All the Forrester problems were
a direct result of Brooke. Stephanie said she loved Thorne and she would
give up her life for him, but she could not allow Brooke into the family.
Thorne pointed out that Ridge and Eric had been responsible for his
marriage to Macy. Stephanie said her husband and older son had done
what they thought necessary to protect the family. Thorne said Brooke
would make him happy. Stephanie disagreed and said Thorne had to make
a choice. Thorne begged his mother not to make him choose. Stephanie
said there would be no negotiation and no compromise. Thorne had to
choose between Brooke and the Forrester family. "If you choose
her you'll no longer be my son." (That Stephanie means business!) At the seedy apartment, Amber begged CJ to stay. She reminded him that Becky had asked both of them to raise Little Eric. CJ said he could not build a stable home for the baby if Amber returned to her old ways of going after men. CJ said he was a mess and he could not handle Amber running off some day. Amber apologized for her insensitivity. She admitted she had not realized how difficult Becky and Macy's deaths had been on him. She promised she would always be there for him and for Little Eric. She said the two of them were all she had. She vowed they could raise the baby into a wonderful young man. CJ thanked Amber for her confidence. He slowly approached her - and they KISSED! (Now this could develop into something really juicy, don't you think?) Episode Date: Wendesday, July 5, 2000
Meanwhile, Amber and CJ were both freaked out by their kiss. CJ apologized and said he didn't know what he was doing. They both stumbled for words and agreed CJ had not been himself and the kiss meant nothing. The idea of them being involved was ridiculous, they concurred. Their uncomfortable conversation was interrupted by Sally calling to invite CJ to the reading of Macy's will. Amber all but pushed CJ out the door. Alone in the seedy apartment, Amber couldn't forget about CJ's kiss. She looked at a framed photo of her, Little Eric and CJ dressed for CJ and Becky's wedding. (WHAT?!? Why would the three of them have posed for a photo at the wedding? That's just stupid.) Amber told herself she'd have to explain to CJ that a kiss could never happen again.
At Thorne's beach bungalow, Ridge and Eric backed up Stephanie ultimatum of choosing Brooke or the family. They were interrupted by Brooke knocking at the door. She told Thorne she could not leave the city without him. Thorne invited Brooke inside and told her of his family making him choose between her and them. Brooke couldn't believe it. Brooke told Stephanie that no one wanted Macy to die. The ultimatum wasn't fair. Stephanie replied that if Thorne married Brooke, he'd be as good as dead. Stephanie was certain Brooke would destroy her son. Stephanie begged Thorne not to walk away from his family. Brooke replied that Stephanie was manipulating him with emotional blackmail. She was certain it was a hollow threat. Stephanie said it was a promise, not a threat. Thorne begged his mother not to make him choose. The matriarch replied that Brooke had caused nothing but pain for the family for the past ten years and Macy's death was the final straw. Brooke told Thorne if he believed what his mother said, then he must choose the Forrester family over her.
Alone on the deck, Brooke said she couldn't let the Forresters disown Thorne. He said there was no use fighting them. Thorne said he would always love his family, but no one could ever make him leave Brooke. He vowed to forget everyone but Brooke. Brooke promised he would not regret his decision and they kissed passionately. Next door, Kimberly walked into her newly inherited beach house. She walked around and gazed at a framed photo of Macy and Thorne. (Now wait a minute. Why does the beach house look so lived in? Hadn't Macy been living next door at Thorne's place since they returned from Venice in February? Shouldn't all the furniture be covered with tarps? Why is the Fiestaware still on the counter?) Kimberly walked onto her deck and spied Brooke and Thorne making out. She was livid. "You'll never have him, Brooke. I swear on my sister's grave Thorne will never be yours" she vowed. (Just like Scarlett O'Hara chomping on that carrot in Gone With the Wind.)
Episode Date: Tuesday, July 25, 2000 It appears a new day has arrived in our favorite city of Los Angeles.
After Stephanie left the office, Taylor questioned why Ridge would take his mother's side against Morgan. Ridge said he thought Morgan had tried to wedge her way into their life when she asked him to donate sperm for her baby scheme. Taylor said it had made her uncomfortable, but she didn't think Morgan was manipulative. They agreed Morgan was not a threat to their relationship. Later, alone in his office, Ridge stared at a photo of Taylor and thought he should simply tell her the truth. But he couldn't think of a way to tell his wife Morgan had duped him into sleeping with her. (Yeah, that's kind of a hard one to explain, big guy.)
Stephanie was surprised at the closeness between Clarke and Morgan. She asked Clarke to leave the premises. He was not welcome at Forrester Creations. Clarke wanted Morgan to leave with him, but she decided to stay. Alone with the designer, Stephanie told Morgan she knew she was hiding something and she suspected Clarke was in cahoots with her. Stephanie said she would do anything to protect her family. Morgan said she was not after Ridge and Stephanie could not take "this" away from her. Stephanie's suspicions grew and she wanted to know to what Morgan was referring. Morgan said she meant her life and her dignity. (Not a very good save, honey.) "All I want is what you took away from me" said Morgan. (Yeah, that won't raise any suspicions. Just keep your mouth shut, would ya, honey?)
Their discussion was interrupted by Rick stopping by. He wanted to
express his condolences to CJ for the death of Macy. CJ was cold to
Rick and said Rick was lucky his mother had survived the crash but he
had lost his sister. Rick understood CJ's anger. CJ blew up and said
Rick couldn't understand. CJ intimated that Brooke had caused Macy's
death because Brooke was having and affair with Thorne. When Rick didn't
get upset by that news, CJ realized Rick had known about the relationship
all along. CJ was furious that Rick had not told him the truth. CJ felt
he could have helped Macy if he had known. Amber suggested Rick leave
because she didn't want them arguing in front of Little Eric. Rick suggested
that he could take the baby for a while. "You ain't taking my son anywhere" CJ snarled. Rick couldn't believe what CJ had said. CJ continued, "He's my son and I don't want him anywhere near you or your messed up family. He's not a Forrester, thank God. He came from a good family, a family with morals and integrity and he's going to grow up to be a decent human being like my sister and like Becky was - not like your slutty mother." (Slutty mother. Oh, that's low. That's really low. I absolutely love it.) Rick and CJ argued until Amber insisted Rick leave. CJ held Little Eric and told him he wouldn't let anything happen to him. Slutty mother. Oh, that's really good.
Episode Date: Wendesday, July 26, 2000(read on for the update)
I immediately called my local cable service provider and was told by a friendly recording that there were transmission problems in my area of Manhattan! Doesn't that just make you want to have a fourth martini? There was no sound and I could only barely make out what was going on. It appeared that Ash and his friends went to the seedy apartment. I think Stephanie continued chatting with Morgan. I could make out that Rick and Eric (the first) were talking. And if I'm not mistaken, James Warrick finally emerged from a locked guest room at the Forrester mansion where he has been since Rick and Amber's wedding. (That last tidbit may have been the fifth martini playing tricks on me.) Do not fear, dear readers. I will contact my fellow B&B fan, fellow Mid-Westerner, and college chum Paul Patnode. He does not live in the affected area of Manhattan and also tapes B&B every day. Perhaps I can borrow his tape and write my update anyway. I will keep you informed with my progress. Episode Date: Wendesday, July 26, 2000 Paul had the lost episode! Mr. Smartypants breathed a sigh of relief. (And it WAS the fifth martini talking. Dr. James Warrick must still be locked in the Forrester guest room.)
Meanwhile, over at the seedy apartment, CJ didn't want to talk to Amber about his argument with Rick. Amber reminded him that Becky had always liked the Forresters. CJ stated that Becky, and everyone else, didn't know them well enough. CJ wanted to change the subject and order pizza. Amber said she had not been able to reach Ash and cancel his visit. CJ told her to get rid of the gang once they arrived but Amber thought that would be rude.
Twister then wandered down the hall into Little Eric's room. He stood over the sleeping baby's crib and stared at him. Ominous music played. (Ooh. What's he gonna do? I'm so scared. I'm shaking in my boots.) Episode Date: Thursday, July 27, 2000
Back at Thorne, he shirtlessly warmed his hands over the fire and noticed the lights on at Macy's house. He walked over and found the door open. He startled Kimberly when he entered her living room. (He had put a shirt on, but it was unbuttoned.) He told Kimberly that he wanted her to know that he really did love Macy. Unfortunately, he may not have loved her enough but he never meant to hurt her. Thorne said he missed Macy, too and hopefully Kimberly would forgive him someday. Kimberly just kind of stared at him. (I think she was concentrating on his chest.) Meanwhile, the party continued at the seedy apartment. CJ noticed that
Twister was missing. Sam suggested he had gone outside for a smoke,
but CJ found him in Little Eric's room and ordered him out. At the same
time, Sam cornered Amber in the hall and told her to stay away from
Ash. "I'm his lady and you're just the skank du jour" Sam
spit. (Skank du jour. Now that's a new one on me.) Amber started to
argue but CJ pulled her into the bedroom and told her about Twister's
antics. Amber freaked and wanted to make sure Little Eric was all right.
CJ said he knew they shouldn't have let so many strange people in their
house. Amber said she had only intended for a few people to come over
and hang out. It had gotten out of hand. Amber apologized and said it
wouldn't happen again. They picked up Little Eric and agreed to make
the most of their new family. Amber and CJ returned to the living room. Amber told Ash that it was time for everyone, including him, to leave. Ash seemed upset, but told his friends to pack it up. Ash took Amber's hands and told her good-bye. Sam was fed up and walked in to the building hallway with her cell phone and called 911. She told the police dispatcher there was a disturbance in her building. Sam lied that she thought the resident, Amber Moore was dealing drugs. Sam returned to the apartment, took what appeared to be two plastic bags of drugs from her purse and hid them under a pillow on the couch! (Oh, she is so very, very mean.) Trivia tidbit: Sam gave the address of the seedy apartment as 4150 Jared Street, Apartment 12. Episode Date: Friday, July 28, 2000 Kimberly and Thorne continued their conversation at Kimberly's newly inherited beach house. Kimberly asked if Thorne blamed himself for Macy's death. He replied that he regretted that he didn't see the problem coming. When he left her at the cabin, she was pulling her life together. Thorne supposed he was actually needing Macy's forgiveness. Kimberly said she knew Macy didn't blame Thorne and neither did she (Kimberly.) Thorne gratefully hugged the teen. Kimberly explained that she knew how much Thorne loved Macy because she and Macy had discussed the couple's history together. Thorne said Macy had always been there for him. When Kimberly asked if it was the same with Brooke, Thorne said no one would ever take Macy's place in his heart. Kimberly stopped the conversation. She didn't want to talk about Brooke because she would always be angry with her. Thorne suggested Kimberly seek professional help to deal with her anger. He said her emotions weren't healthy and Macy would not have wanted her to harbor such hatred. Thorne also wondered if Kimberly living in Macy's house was a good idea. Kimberly said the beach house made her feel closer to Macy and she didn't want to deal with Brooke in any way - she would quit her job at Forrester. Thorne said if he and Kimberly were to have any type of relationship, she would have to deal with Brooke because he intended to marry her soon. Kimberly freaked! She pointed out that Macy was "barely in her grave." If Thorne re-married so quickly, the press would write horrible stories about Macy and call her a "suicidal drunk who's husband left her." Kimberly begged Thorne not to disgrace Macy's memory and to hold off on marrying Brooke. Thorne looked dubious.
Over at the seedy apartment, Amber and CJ were having a hard time getting the rowdy guests to leave. Sam (the pink-haired, mesh-wearing, heavily-made-up tart) called 911 from her cell phone again to check on the police's response to her earlier complaint. She also checked on the bags of drugs she had left behind a pillow on the couch. (I'm assuming those two actions were for the benefit of those viewers who had not seen yesterday's episode or read Mr. Smartypants' update - and who might that be?) CJ answered a knock on the door and found two burly police officers there. They explained there had been a complaint of a disturbance and were looking for Amber Moore. Amber introduced herself and apologized for the noise. She said the party was breaking up and everyone was leaving. The officers said there was also a tip that drugs were being sold. Amber said no such thing had happened and they were free to look around the apartment. As Amber took one officer to the bedrooms to look around and check on Little Eric, CJ ushered the remaining guests out the door. CJ thanked the remaining officer for showing up and helping to get rid of the unwanted partiers. Amber returned with the other officer. He seemed satisfied that everything was under control. But as the police were leaving, they noticed the plastic bags of drugs. (Apparently, Sam had placed them in a more conspicuous location before she left.)
(The cute little baby playing Little Eric sure was upset and cried a lot during that last scene. I felt so sorry for him. It was also great to see Amber and CJ put up such a fight to stay in the apartment. As the police officer carried her out the door, Amber raised her legs and braced them on either side of the door frame. She's a spitfire, that Amber. I'm sorry I couldn't catch that screen capture for you. It's hard to get a scene with too much action.)
Episode Date: Monday, July 31, 2000 Kimberly and Thorne talked still more at Kimberly's beach house. The teen told Thorne he had to respect Macy's memory and not trash her reputation. Thorne agreed that he and Brooke would wait until things calmed down before they went public with their relationship. As they sat on the deck, Kimberly told Thorne she appreciated the peace and quiet of the beach. Living at the dorm, she had been concerned with her hair and parties. (If she was so concerned about her hair, why did she dye it that color?) Kimberly felt Macy knew what was important and Kimberly didn't plan to return to her materialistic ways. Thorne suggested that Macy wouldn't want her sister to harbor so much anger. He reminded her that Macy had not shut out Adam when he returned to Los Angeles. Kimberly said there was no way Brooke could be compared to her father. In her opinion, Brooke had gotten away with murder. Thorne said he would help Kimberly get through her difficult times. It was late and Thorne excused himself to go home. Kimberly watched him wistfully.
Meanwhile, at the seedy apartment, Rick arrived to take custody of Little Eric from the Child Protective Services agent. The agent explained that the baby had been sleeping when she arrived and was unharmed. She then had to leave for another case. Alone with Little Eric, Rick wondered what Amber could have been thinking to throw a wild party with Little Eric in the same apartment. He took the baby to the Forrester guest house where he readied him for bed. Rick then called up Helen (Stephanie's maid - remember her?) Rick wanted Helen to watch the baby while he went to talk to Amber. (What? Can't you just spend a few minutes with your "son" before dumping him on the hired help?)
Eric took CJ and Amber back to the seedy apartment. Amber was surprised that Rick was not here with Little Eric. Rick arrived and said he had taken the baby to the guest house and he was sleeping under Helen's care. Amber wanted to bring Little Eric back to the seedy apartment, but Rick insisted he stay at the guest house until CJ and Amber cleaned up the apartment and made it safe for a child. CJ was angry at Rick's suggestion and accused him of only trying to get back at CJ for his desire to keep Rick out of the baby's life. Rick retaliated that, unlike CJ, he only had Little Eric's best interests at heart. Amber stopped the argument and agreed that letting the baby stay asleep was the best idea. Rick and Eric left. CJ and Amber looked out the window and dreamily said good night from "mommy" and "daddy" to Little Eric. I hope this is a prelude to a hot custody battle. Wouldn't that be groovy?
