In the Forrester photography studio, Rick gazed at glossy 8 x 10s of Kimberly. Kimberly entered the room. She explained she had returned to get her keys. Rick handed her the keys and their hands touched. (They really got off on that.) Kimberly said she was excited about her trip to Venice but wished Rick could go along. Rick told her he was, in fact, going on the photo shoot. Kimberly was ecstatic until she realized Amber was going along, too. She was sure that Amber was intending to ruin the photo shoot. Rick said Amber didn't worry so much about Kimberly any more. Kimberly couldn't believe that Amber would want Kimberly in the same city when Amber was on her honeymoon. Rick offered to make alternate plans if Kimberly was uncomfortable with the situation. Kimberly shrugged it off and said she had no problem with the situation if Amber didn't mind it. Rick left to go home and pack. Alone in the studio, Kimberly was pleased that Amber was so secure in her marriage these days. She liked the idea that Amber's guard would be down. Kimberly planned to discover Amber's secret in Venice and destroy her marriage to Rick.

At the guesthouse, CJ paid a visit just as Amber was finishing packing. When he learned Rick and Amber were planning a honeymoon in conjunction with Kimberly's photo shoot, CJ thought Amber was nuts. (He does have a point. Of all the cities in the world and with all the Forrester money, these kids could go anywhere they wanted. I find it very strange that the entire cast will be in Venice at the same time. Ah, but reality and soap operas don't get along too well, do they?) CJ accused Amber of wanting to rub her happy marriage and baby in Kimberly's face. Amber said she didn't worry about Kimberly anymore. She was secure in her relationship with Rick. CJ asked if Amber would be seeing Becky while in Europe. Amber emphatically told him they would not visit Becky. She explained Paris and Venice were not that close, Becky would be busy with her new job and Amber wanted some time alone with her husband on her honeymoon. After CJ left, Amber imagined how wonderful her trip with Rick would be.

At the Forrester mansion, Taylor was upset to learn that Stephanie had become agitated during Brooke's visit. Taylor warned Stephanie to watch her health. Stephanie thought there was no reason to worry as Brooke was now out of her life for good. (Yeah, right.) Stephanie did say she was worried about Thorne's relationship with Macy. La Forrester felt guilty she had tried to pull the surprise wedding stunt. Thorne had felt pressured and now he and Macy weren't even speaking to each other. Taylor told her mother-in-law that Thorne and Macy were adults. They would find a way to work it out if their relationship was meant to be. Helen lumbered down the stairs with a huge suitcase. Stephanie wished her well on her trip to Venice with Rick and Amber. As Helen left (through that doorway Brooke used to sneak into Stephanie's party), Taylor expressed concern that no one would be available to care for Stephanie. The matriarch said Helen's sister would be helping out and perhaps she could have Thorne over for a talk about Macy. Taylor encouraged Stephanie not to pressure her son. (That and the fact that he's headed to Venice with Brooke should keep him away.)

For the umpteenth time, Eric and Ridge stormed around Eric's office throwing a tantrum about Brooke and Thorne. Ridge said there was no way to get through to the pair. Ridge asked his father if there was any way Eric could have been dissuaded from pursuing Brooke when he was in love with her. That seemed to give Eric an idea. The elder Forrester instructed Megan to hold all his calls, poured Ridge and himself drinks and explained a plan to his son off camera. When we rejoined the pair, Ridge said he could not participate in the plan and he was insulted his father even brought it up. Eric said he was not asking Ridge to follow his plan, he was telling him to. Eric said it was his and Ridge's fault Brooke was still tied to the Forrester family and they had to take drastic action to get rid of her. Ridge said Taylor would not go along with their scheme. Eric told Ridge he had no choice. He was to pack his bags and head to Venice!

What's the plan? I think Eric wants Ridge to seduce (or at least try to seduce) Brooke to prove that she's nothing but a low down 'ho. Thorne would then drop her like a hot potato. You see, the only thing that made Eric get over Brooke was his realization she truly loved Ridge. This should get good.

In Thorne's office, he and Brooke kissed noisily with lots of slurping sounds. The blinds were open and Brooke was concerned someone might see them. Thorne said he didn't care if the truth was known. They talked about what a great time they would have in Venice and how they would tell Stephanie the truth about their relationship when the got back to Los Angeles. Brooke made sure Thorne had booked two rooms in Venice because she didn't want Rick to know she was shacking up with his half-brother until she had a chance to tell him. (How very thoughtful of you, Brooke.) They hurried out of the office to catch the Forrester jet.

Eric had been spying on the couple through the windows in Thorne's office. He seethed with anger and prayed Ridge could put an end to this love affair.

At Ridge and Taylor's house, Taylor told her husband that she felt Stephanie should be told the truth about Thorne and Brooke. The family could help her deal with it. Ridge told his wife that Thorne and Brooke were planning a romantic trip to Venice and intended to tell Stephanie they were in love upon their return. Taylor said there was nothing they could do. Ridge corrected her and told her of his father's plan (off camera, again - do they think we are too stupid to figure it out?). Taylor told Ridge in no uncertain terms that she would have no part of the cockamamie scheme. It was foolish and it would never work. Taylor reminded Ridge of the past times he had played "knight in shining armor" for Brooke. Taylor didn't want Ridge to do that again. She didn't want Brooke controlling their lives. Ridge said he was doing it for his mother this time. Taylor refused. Eric called and was shocked to learn Taylor and Ridge had not left for the airport. Taylor informed her father-in-law she was not going to Venice. Eric said she had no choice. He begged Taylor to go along with "THE PLAN" to save Stephanie's life! (Come, on Eric, aren't you being a little over dramatic. Oh, it's a soap opera. I guess it's required.)

At the Forrester photo studio, Kimberly told Giovanni that Amber and Rick were going on the Venice location shoot, too. Giovanni feared Kimberly would get into trouble with them around. She told him to hurry or they would miss the plane.

At the guest house, Amber and Rick left with Little Eric. As they shut the door, Rick left a note for Helen telling her where to meet them at the airport. When they were gone, Tawny came skulking out of the shadows, switched the note and hid again. When Helen arrived, she read the note and thought it was from Rick telling her to go to a different airport. Helen left for the wrong destination as Tawny again appeared. With an evil grin she said to herself "Venice, here I come."

Over in Paris, Becky imagined that Little Eric must be flying to Europe at that very moment. She cried that she missed him and wanted to go to Venice to see him.

Kimberly and Giovanni were the first to arrive on the private Forrester jet. They met the pilot, Lucy, and the co-pilot, Marty. (Such cute names for pilots, don't you think?) Giovanni went to the back of the plane to check out the drink selection when Amber and Rick boarded with Little Eric. Kimberly told Amber she was looking forward to getting to know her better. Amber told her rival she was on her honeymoon and didn't want to engage in any "girl talk." Brooke then got on the jet. She explained she was going to Venice as well. Amber said she didn't think mother-in-laws usually went on honeymoons. Brooke sniped back that she was only going to supervise the photo shoot. (I suspect she intends to supervise Thorne, if you know what I mean.) Tawny then showed up pretending she wanted to say good-bye. Neither Amber nor Brooke were pleased to see Tawny and they both told her to leave. Tawny feigned fear that Helen might not show up and she would just stick around until they were sure they had someone to take care of Little Eric. Amber agreed. Thorne also boarded the jet but no one really seemed to care.

Marty returned to the passenger area and told the assembled Forresters there would be a delay as they waited for two more passengers. Ridge and Taylor would be traveling in the group as well. (Apparently, Taylor bought a ticket to go on Eric's guilt trip.) Brooke and Thorne were none too happy to hear that news.

This is good. This is so very good.

In the car on the way to airport, Taylor was pissed off (and I mean REALLY pissed off) that she was leaving her children at home to deal with Brooke. Ridge said it wasn't his fault. They were going for Stephanie's sake. Taylor feared he was really going on Brooke's behalf. Ridge told his wife he didn't appreciate her accusation.

"I don't want to hear you talk anymore. I might say something I regret" Taylor bleated.

"It's going to be a long flight" Ridge sighed.

Helen showed up at the wrong airport (due to that evil Tawny's note switching) and discovered the Forrester charter jet was no where to be found. She was very puzzled.

At Forrester International in Paris, Becky told Suzanne she hadn't slept well the night before. Suzanne insisted Becky go to Venice and retrieve her son. Suzanne had even purchased a train ticket to Venice for Becky. Becky said she could not take her son away from the only family he had ever known. Suzanne asked if Becky really wanted her son at all. Becky took the ticket and when alone couldn't decide what she should do. She wanted to do what was best for her son and really didn't want to ruin Amber's life either. (Such a dilemma!)

On the Forrester jet, Brooke and Thorne dreaded Ridge showing up to put a wet blanket on their holiday of sex. Brooke also feared it would be a long flight with Ridge and Amber on board. Amber fretted that Helen would not show up to take care of Little Eric. Tawny, of course, volunteered her services. Brooke said there was no way Tawny was getting a free trip to Venice. Besides, Brooke pointed out, it was an international flight and Tawny would need a passport. Well, what do you know? Tawny had her passport handy in her purse. Tawny then got a jab at Brooke by saying Little Eric probably didn't even know who Brooke was. They started to argue just as Ridge and Taylor boarded the plane. Ridge acted surprised to see Brooke and Thorne. Taylor gave Ridge the cold shoulder and stomped to her seat. (Ooh, I hope there are plenty of blankets in those overhead compartments.)

Kimberly noticed Giovanni eyeing Brooke and Thorne. She volunteered the information that there was nothing romantic between Thorne and Brooke because he loved Kimberly's sister, Macy. Giovanni was shocked to learn that Macy was Kimberly's sister. He fondly recalled his near tryst in the dark room with Macy. Mama Mia!

Captain Lucy told the assembled Forresters it was time to take off. Amber insisted they wait for Helen but it was decided she was not going to show up. Brooke said Tawny could not go because it would be uncomfortable for Kimberly. (That whole gun incident, you know.) Kimberly said she was fine with Tawny's presence.

Once they were airborne, Taylor called Thomas. She tried to explain why she was gone but he started to cry. Ridge took the phone and cheered his son up. Taylor glared at Brooke. Brooke asked Thorne if he thought his brother and Taylor were acting strangely. Thorne said he didn't care. He asked Brooke what was the first thing she wanted once she got to Italy. She said her entire body ached for it. Thorne got all hot and bothered. She licked her lips and said she couldn't wait for some…. tiramisu. Thorne knew she was joking and started to grab and tickle her. She giggled like a school girl and said "Stop it. Stop it." Ridge turned to see the heinous display and looked away in disgust.

Kimberly was equally sickened by the sight of Rick and Amber snuggling. Giovanni told her to relax. She placed her head on his shoulder and her told her happy stories of dreams coming true in Italy. Rick didn't like seeing Giovanni stroking Kimberly's hair. She drifted into dreamland and fantasized that she and Rick were alone on the jet on their way to a summer in Paris. Rick toasted her success in discovering Amber's secret and his freedom from Amber. Giovanni woke Kimberly when she started to fondle his chest. (Didn't she do that once before on her plane trip to Paris?)

Meanwhile, Brooke listened as Ridge and Taylor argued. Ridge told his wife they should try and have some fun in Italy. "You do what you want. You will anyway" Taylor sniped. (Taylor, why are you being such a witch?)

Thorne got up to stretch his legs and Ridge walked away from Taylor's snotty comments. Ridge exited the toilet to find Thorne and Brooke smooching in the hall. He told them to "sell tickets." Thorne went back to his seat. Brooke told Ridge he seemed on edge. She noticed tension between him and Taylor. Ridge told her not to read anything into it. This wasn't about her.

Hey, wait a minute! I'll bet it's all an act! Taylor really isn't that big of a bitch (or is she?) They are trying to show Brooke they are unhappy to make her think there is a chance for her to get Ridge back. Oooh, that's sneaky. If I'm wrong I'll eat my autographed vinyl 45 rpm copy of "Baby Come Back" by Player (featuring Mr. Ronn Moss (Ridge) on bass. Mr. Smartypants hates to be wrong.

Episode Date: Thursday, January 6, 2000

Eric arrived home and admired Stephanie in the living room placing photographs in an album. He thought to himself how strong she was and how much she had done for the family (like pasting pictures in a book). Eric approached his wife and told her how well she was doing. Stephanie said she didn't like being so frail and had to try not to get upset so her blood pressure would not rise. Both Eric and Stephanie were surprised when Helen walked through the door. The housekeeper explained she had received a note from Rick telling her to go to the Valley airport when the plane had taken off from Santa Monica. Stephanie asked to see the note. She was certain it was not Rick's handwriting and suspected it to be Tawny's handiwork. Helen was angry she had been duped by Amber's mother and stomped off to the kitchen. Stephanie suggested she and Eric invite Thorne over for dinner. Eric was forced to tell Stephanie that Thorne had gone on the Venice photo shoot. Stephanie asked if Macy had gone along. When Eric informed her Macy was not on the trip, Stephanie questioned why Thorne would go. Eric quickly changed the subject and prayed to himself Ridge would be able to put a stop to Brooke and Thorne's relationship.

At Forrester International, Becky pondered if she should go to Venice. She thought she really would like to see her son but wondered if it was the right thing to do. Suzanne, the busy body, appeared and told Becky she would never be happy without her son. Becky then changed her mind and returned the train ticket to Suzanne. Becky decided it would cause trouble for everyone if she went. Suzanne left the ticket on Becky's desk and told her she knew Becky would make the right decision.

On the Forrester jet, Thorne and Brooke continued to act like horny, giggling teenagers. Taylor gazed at them with disdain. Ridge awoke and greeted Taylor with a smile and a "Good morning." Taylor loudly informed her husband not to even speak to her. Thorne and Brooke both noticed the icy way Taylor was acting toward Ridge and wondered what was going on. (I'll tell you two idiots what's going. It's all an act, a ruse, a charade. Taylor is pretending to be angry at Ridge so Brooke will think they are having marital troubles. Ridge will then seek solace in Brooke. Eric's plan must be that Brooke will fall for Ridge's line, Thorne will find out how duplicitous she truly is and drop her like a hot potato. This isn't rocket science, you know.)

Kimberly waited to use the lavatory. Tawny exited the toilet and Kimberly avoided her like the plague. "You don't have to give me the stink eye every time we pass" said Tawny. (STINK EYE? What the heck is that all about? STINK EYE? I'm from Missouri and I've never heard that expression. I was drinking milk when Tawny said that and it shot out my nose I was laughing so hard.) But anyway, Tawny apologized for holding Kimberly at gunpoint. Kimberly reiterated that the entire episode had reinforced that Tawny and Amber were hiding something. Tawny told the teen she was only wishing there was a secret to discover. Tawny started to leave when she heard Little Eric cry. Kimberly remembered that Tawny had pulled the gun when Little Eric had cried before. Did the secret have anything to do with Little Eric? (That Kimberly - not only beautiful but smarter than the dickens, too.) Kimberly told Tawny she would soon uncover the truth. Tawny gave Kimberly the stink eye as the model went into the toilet.

Rick waited to use the lavatory. When Kimberly emerged from the tiny john, Rick made a clever comment about how small it was. Kimberly said it wasn't so bad and pulled Rick into the compartment with her and locked the door. Kimberly turned on her slutty charm (who knew she had it in her?) and tried to kiss Rick. Unfortunately, Amber noticed her husband and Kimberly were both missing and started banging on the toilet door insisting Kimberly come out. Busted! Amber didn't blame Rick, she knew Kimberly had pulled him into the room. Rick returned to his seat as Amber "slugged" Kimberly on the arm. (It was the silliest little girl hit I had ever seen.)

"Try that again and you are toast, sweetie pie" Amber threatened.

The plane started to land and everyone looked out the windows at the beautiful city of Venice. Giovanni gave them facts and figures about the city - he's a regular travelogue. He had arranged for water taxis to take them all to their hotels. Giovanni took a taxi with Kimberly, Tawny, Rick, Amber and Little Eric. On the way he told them more fascinating facts about Venice. Once at the hotel, Amber was all over Rick and smothered him with kisses. Kimberly looked away with disgust. Giovanni told her not to let the married couple spoil her trip. Kimberly said she was certain their marriage would end here in Venice.

Thorne and Brooke took a water taxi by themselves. Thorne had the boat stop in the middle of a canal and screamed (to no one in particular) that Thorne and Brooke had arrived in Venice. The duo kissed - how romantic.

At the Forrester mansion, Stephanie worked with her physical therapist. Eric answered a knock at the door and found Sally Spectra standing there! Sally explained she had come to check on Stephanie's progress. Sally and Eric watched as the therapy session ended. The therapist left and Sally congratulated Stephanie on her hard work. Stephanie appreciated Sally's kind words. Sally then asked how Thorne was doing. She told them Macy was very upset at being left at the altar. Stephanie and Sally agreed they should both talk to Thorne and get him to realize how much he loved Macy. Eric discouraged the concept but Stephanie said they would have to wait until he returned from Italy. Sally was shocked to learn that Thorne had gone on Kimberly's Venetian photo shoot without asking Macy to accompany him to the romantic locale. Sally then inquired who else was on the trip. Was Brooke along for the ride? Eric confirmed to both the ladies that Brooke had indeed gone to Venice. Stephanie was surprised at the news and Sally asked if there was anything going on between Thorne and Brooke. Stephanie adamantly denied Thorne could have any involvement with Miss Logan. Eric tried to change the subject because Stephanie started to get upset. Sally pursued the issue and Stephanie got angrier and angrier at the thought of Brooke infiltrating her family once again.

Sally left to get La Forrester a glass of water. Eric promised his wife that Brooke was not a threat to the family. Stephanie said she believed anything he said. Sally delivered the water and apologized for upsetting her one-time rival. Eric escorted Sally to the door and told her never to mention Brooke's name in Stephanie's presence again. Sally was left to ponder why the man didst protest too much.

Over in Italy, Brooke and Thorne checked into their hotel room. As Thorne unpacked, Brooke appeared in a towel and proposed they share a bubble bath. Thorne eagerly accepted and the duo jumped in a tub full of frothy delight. Thorne told Brooke it felt like a honeymoon and they discussed getting married. We were then forced to witness the longest make out session I've seen in a long time on daytime television. They were "teasing" each other with a sponge that looked like a small chunk of the ratty thing my father used to wash our Buick when I was six years old. And have you ever really tried having sex in a bath tub. It's not all that easy, I'll tell you.

Next door, Taylor and Ridge checked into their room. Taylor was not happy they had the room adjoining Brooke and Thorne. (How did she know that anyway?) Ridge told his wife to forget about his brother and tried to seduce her. Taylor was having none of that and said she was not here on a romantic vacation. They had been sent on and "ugly" mission. Taylor was very upset they had left their children so suddenly. Ridge said she was being unreasonable. Taylor didn't want to listen to her husband's words and stormed out the door.

In the tub next door, Brooke and Thorne soaked in the afterglow and heard Taylor and Ridge's raised voices through the paper thin (?) walls of the hotel. (Yeah, I didn't get that either.) They emerged from the water and got dressed. Brooke wondered what Ridge and Taylor were so upset about. Thorne didn't care and told his love to forget about it. Brooke squinted and continued to consider the situation. The love birds then left the hotel to make out along the canals in Venice.

Ridge then received a call from his father. Eric explained what had taken place when Sally visited Stephanie. He informed Ridge he must put the plan into action and succeed. What is it? I can't stand the suspense another minute.

Episode Date: Monday, January 10, 2000

It wasn't clear who's room it was (it looked like Ridge and Taylor's), but a new day dawned and the Forresters gathered for coffee. Giovanni and Kimberly were getting ready to leave to scout locations to shoot photos. Rick entered and Kimberly asked him to go with them. Rick hesitated because Amber wasn't there. Brooke encouraged her son to go and she would tell Amber where he went.

Alone with their pastries, Ridge asked Brooke if it was a good idea to encourage Rick's relationship with Kimberly. Brooke said Kimberly was better suited for her son and as soon as Amber's secret was out, Rick and Kimberly would be together. Brooke said she had to get going because she was meeting Thorne. Ridge told her to be careful or Rick would find out about her romance with Thorne. Brooke appeared flippant and told Ridge everyone would know soon. Ridge was angered at her indifference to Stephanie. Brooke changed the subject and told Ridge she had heard him and Taylor arguing the day before. Ridge said it was nothing. Brooke reminded him that the two of them had never argued when they were together. She asked what the problem was. Ridge said everything was complicated but he shouldn't talk about it. He left the room, leaving Brooke to squint and ponder a little more.

In her hotel room, Amber held Little Eric and thought of calling Becky. As she was picking up the phone, Tawny returned with "real" cappuccinos for both of them. Tawny advised her daughter not to call Becky. Tawny encouraged her daughter to concentrate on her marriage and not on Becky. Amber left to join Rick while Tawny watched the baby.

In Paris, Becky continued to fondle the train ticket Suzanne had purchased for her and had flashbacks of holding Little Eric. Suzanne stopped by just to agitate Becky a little more. She asked if Amber had called Becky and Becky replied she didn't expect to hear from her cousin. Suzanne was livid at that news and told Becky to go and retrieve her son. They needed each other. After Suzanne left, Becky called Amber's hotel room and spoke with Tawny. After a stilted, single-word-answer conversation, Becky said she might come to Venice to see Little Eric. Tawny told her to stay away. Amber had to concentrate on her honeymoon and Becky would ruin the trip if she showed up. Becky asked if they could stop by Paris on the way home. Tawny said she could not promise anything and hung up abruptly when the baby started to cry. "Who am I kidding? She won't call. I'm going to Venice." With those words, Becky grabbed her train ticket and strutted to the elevator to leave.

On Piazza San Marco in Venice, Giovanni told Rick and Kimberly of the history of the site. (A photographer and an Italian history buff, what a guy!) Giovanni left to talk to a shop keeper about using his store and Rick told Kimberly he had to get back to Amber. Kimberly told him to go, but Rick said he'd rather go sightseeing with her. Kimberly became angry when it was clear he had no intention of doing such a thing. She told him it was a crime that they were in such a beautiful city and they couldn't enjoy it together. Kimberly was certain Rick would eventually leave Amber. She stormed off.

Giovanni returned and asked what Rick had said to upset Kimberly. Rick told him to butt out but Gio told him he had to keep his star model happy. Giovanni told Rick that Rick was a fool to ignore his feelings for Kimberly. She was a fabulous woman and he should pursue her. Rick replied that where he came from, fathers took their responsibilities to their sons seriously. Giovanni was insulted that Rick would think Italian men did not care for their children. The photographer explained that it was not showing love to one's child by lying to them. Rick was lying to Little Eric that he loved his mother.

Kimberly stood in the distance and watched the two men chat. Amber sidled up beside her and took note of how Kimberly was constantly fawning over Rick. Amber made it clear that Kimberly could not have him because Rick was married to her. Kimberly retorted that the only reason she had Rick was because of the baby. Amber was not to pleased to have that thrown in her face.

More Venice tomorrow.

Episode Date: Tuesday, January 11, 2000

On Piazza San Marco, Kimberly told Amber that Rick still had feelings for her (Kimberly.) Kimberly said Amber had brought Tawny along to help hide Amber's secret. Amber started yelling at Kimberly that she was tired of her accusations. Giovanni and Rick ran to the rescue. When Rick asked what the trouble was, Amber said she had merely asked where her husband was. Amber told Rick she was hungry and they left to get something to eat. Kimberly was left with egg on her face. (I suppose Amber could have eaten some of that.)

Rick and Amber dined in a small restaurant. Amber was happy to be eating her first "real" Italian meal. (But I did notice she never touched the food once it came to the table.) Amber told Rick she was sorry she had argued with Kimberly. She promised it wouldn't happen again. Rick was upset it had happened in the first place. He reminded Amber they were in Venice to have a good time. She told him she was having a good time and they made up. Amber was pleased with how much they had grown. She had once been a waitress in Furnace Creek (with Sheila - remember that?) and now she was happily married. She apologized that their marriage had gotten off to a rocky start. Rick told her to forget the past. They would now look to the future with no lies and no secrets. (Don't bet the farm on that on, boy.)

In Paris, Becky was packing to leave for Venice when that busybody, Suzanne, stopped by. Suzanne was pleased to hear that Becky was going to Venice, but dismayed when Becky told her she only planned to visit Little Eric - not bring him back home with her. Suzanne said she wasn't sure Becky would be able to leave the little boy again. Becky said she didn't want to hurt Amber in any way. Once Amber saw that Becky wasn't a threat to her marriage, Becky was sure her cousin would let her spend more time with the baby. Becky left, boarded the train (direct to Venice from Paris? I think not.) and eagerly anticipated seeing her son again.

Back in Venice, Ridge finished his telephone conversation with his father when Taylor returned to the room. Ridge told his wife he had promised Eric they would implement the plan that very day. Taylor said all she wanted to do was go home. She reminded Ridge of the pact they had made not to let Brooke dictate their lives ever again. Ridge swore that his feelings had nothing to do with Brooke. He only wanted to spare his mother the trauma of learning of Brooke and Thorne's romance. Taylor said Eric's plan was underhanded and mean. Ridge agreed but said it was the only way they could come through for his mother. Taylor did not look convinced.

Thorne and Brooke left the hotel for some sightseeing. She told him she had not been able to get Ridge to open up about his troubles with Taylor. Thorne told her to "fuggid abou did." They strolled through Venice and Brooke was just as giddy as a little school girl. She gave a man sweeping the street a rose and stopped to play with four small children. Oh, that Brooke is so impetuous and zany! Thorne took Brooke to the Ponte di Rialto. They enjoyed the view and told each other how special this time was. Thorne told her he wanted to feel this way the rest of his life. He got down on one knee, pulled out a ring and asked Brooke to marry.

Of course Brooke gave a typical soap opera response. She smiled and stared at him.

Episode Date: Wednesday, January 12, 2000

By the Ponte de Rialto, Brooke accepted Thorne's marriage proposal. She told him he had shown her a whole new world. Thorne asked his intended if she would ever be tempted to go back to her life before they fell in love. She replied by saying "Never." Next, they took a ride in a gondola. (Unfortunately, the gondolier did not sing, so we had to listen to the banal words of love Brooke and Thorne cooed to each other.) They agreed it was amazing they had fallen in love after having known each other for so many years. Brooke got all horny and suggested they forego lunch and return to the hotel. They kissed noisily.

Back at the hotel, Tawny ranted to herself that Becky had better keep her nose out of Amber's life. Tawny did not think her niece would dare to travel to Venice. Oh, but you are so wrong, Tawny. At that very moment Becky was on a train, looking at pictures of Little Eric and imagining bonding with her son while the song "Baby Mine" (from the Disney animated classic, Dumbo, and later recorded on the Beaches soundtrack by Miss Bette Milder) played in her head.

Amber and Rick returned to the hotel room and relieved Tawny of her baby sitting duties so she could do some sightseeing herself. Amber told her mother what a wonderful time they had that morning. As she left, Tawny told Rick and Amber how nice it was to see them so happy. Amber then told her husband that she no longer felt threatened. She thought their relationship was strong and secure. Rick told Amber he had been trying to get her to understand that for months. She started getting amorous and told Rick she intended to fulfill all his needs. Rick picked up Little Eric and told Amber he never knew he could love someone as much as he loved the baby. Amber thanked him for being such a great father and for bringing them to Venice. Amber wished she could freeze that very moment in time.

You probably will wish you had freeze dried it, honey, because Becky just got out of a water taxi and asked directions to your hotel. She looked right at the camera and said "Mama's commin'." I think she means business, girl. (And damn that was one fast train - all the way from Paris to Venice in less than a morning. Book me a trip on that choo-choo.)

Taylor and Ridge left their hotel room when Taylor agreed to put the "plan" into motion. They went to a restaurant for lunch and awaited Brooke and Thorne's arrival. Taylor was still out of sorts and didn't understand why they had to be the one's to put an end to Brooke and Thorne's romance. Ridge explained they were his mother's only hope. (Whatever! I'm getting so tired of that line.) Anyway, Brooke and Thorne arrived and saw Ridge and Taylor. They requested a table on the other side of the restaurant. Ridge told Taylor they had arrived and the "plan" would begin. Taylor looked at Brooke and told her husband she didn't feel right about going through with the "plan." Ridge said he had promised his father they would implement the "plan." The argued again about Brooke controlling their lives and Taylor threw her napkin down on the table. (Ooh! How dramatic.) Brooke witnessed the angry outburst and wondered what they were fighting about. Thorne told his betrothed it would be best to ignore it. At the other table, Ridge ordered Taylor to go through with the "plan."

Just do it already so we don't have to hear about it one more day.

Episode Date: Thursday, January 13, 2000

At the Venetian restaurant, Brooke and Thorne continued to enjoy their romantic lunch. Ridge glared at them from across the room and seethed over what they had done to Stephanie. Taylor accused him of being upset because Thorne was having a good time with Brooke. Taylor then said she was not going along with any plan until Ridge was honest about his feelings. Taylor spit that she was not stupid and she could see what was going on. It was like a slap in the face to see him trailing after Brooke.

Thorne and Brooke couldn't help but notice the heated exchange. Thorne suggested Ridge was jealous of Thorne's relationship with Brooke and Taylor was ticked off about that. Brooke said she didn't care how Ridge might feel, but suggested they intervene because Ridge and Taylor were causing a scene. Thorne approached his brother's table and asked what the problem was. Ridge urged his younger brother to leave but Taylor insisted he stay. She told Thorne it was the same old story. She and the children were not Ridge's first priority and she was fed up. Ridge ordered Thorne to go to his table and sit down. Thorne returned to Brooke and told her Taylor was coming unglued.

Tawny strolled the streets of Venice shopping for souvenirs. As she purchased a book, she thought she saw Becky pass by. Tawny freaked out and pursued the young woman only to discover it was a Becky look-alike. Too bad Tawny was just in the wrong spot because Becky was making her way to Amber's hotel stopping every few steps to say "I'm almost there." (OK, just walk, would you?)

In Los Angeles, Sally paid Eric a visit in his office. She wanted to know if he had any information on the reason Brooke and Thorne had both gone to Paris. Sally didn't want to cause any trouble for Stephanie but she wanted the truth. Eric said he hadn't heard from Brooke or Thorne. That only made Sally more suspicious. Eric assured La Spectra that Thorne's future would be with Macy. Ridge would make sure of it.

In their hotel room in Venice, Amber showed Little Eric a tour book of Italy. She thanked Rick for the vacation of a lifetime and the young couple complimented each other on their parenting skills. Amber then heard an instrumental version of "My Romance" on the radio and sang along (mangling the words, I might add.) She did a little dance and Little Eric "sang" along. (I think he was just trying to drown her out.) The song put the baby to sleep and for the hundredth time Amber told Rick how lucky she felt. She was so happy she thought she could sing all the time. (Please, no - anything but that.)

Becky approached the outside of the hotel and said out loud "This is Amber's hotel. I'm here. It won't be long now until I see my son." (OK, just do it!) She then managed to convince the desk clerk to give her Amber's hotel room as she said "I'm here in Amber's hotel. I'll see my son soon." (OK, OK we get it!) Becky then walked up to the room door and said "Here it is - Amber's room. Now I'll see my son." (OK, OK, OK, would you just do it already and stop talking about it?)

Episode Date: Friday, January 14, 2000

Amber and Rick kissed on the balcony of their hotel room in Venice. They returned to their bed and started making out when they heard their doorbell. (Doorbell?!? Since when do hotel rooms have doorbells?) Amber figured it was her mother so they decided to ignore the persistent ringing. Outside, Becky grew impatient waiting for the door to be answered. In the nick of time, Tawny rounded the corner in the hallway and called out Becky's name when she saw her niece. Becky took off down the hall with Tawny in hot pursuit! Amber finally opened the door and found it odd no one was there. She returned to the room where she and Rick planned a gondola ride as soon as Tawny returned to take care of Little Eric.

Tawny followed Becky out the front door of the hotel but lost her. Becky was hiding behind a small fence covered with geraniums. When Tawny had passed, Becky climbed back over the fence and headed for the hotel again. Tawny appeared from no where and grabbed Becky by the arm. Becky broke free and took off through the streets of Venice. Tawny chased her niece over the Ponte di Rialto. Becky managed to keep a few steps ahead and headed for a bell tower. (Oh that's a good idea. Whenever I want to get away from someone, I always run to a dead end. I think Becky has been watching far too many bad teen slasher movies.) Becky ran up the tower stairs and hid behind some of the bells when she reached the top. Tawny followed all the way up and found Becky amid the chimes. Becky was scared and backed up against the wall of the open tower. "You just made a big, big mistake" sneered Tawny.

Back at 380 South Wyler Street in Los Angeles (home of Spectra Fashions), Sally told Macy she suspected the reason Thorne didn't marry her was that he had become romantically involved with Brooke. Macy was upset. She said Thorne had never lied to her but had let her assume something was true that wasn't. Macy said she feared Brooke would only hurt Thorne. Sally gently told her daughter there was nothing they could do about it. Macy said she was going to talk to Thorne and let him know the truth about Brooke. Sally wanted her daughter to leave Thorne alone. She thought Thorne had hurt her enough. Macy (saint that she is) felt worse for Thorne than herself because he had alienated his entire family and would only get burned in the end. Sally said Macy could not talk to Thorne because he was in Venice with Brooke. Macy decided she would go to Venice and convince Thorne that Brooke would eventually dump him. She knew it was over for them, but she didn't want to see him get hurt. "I love him, I love him too much" Macy intoned.

At the restaurant in Venice, Thorne told Brooke it was ironic Ridge and Taylor had come to Venice to break up his romance with Brooke but were now having romantic problems of their own. Taylor and Ridge continued to quarrel at their table. Taylor said she could take Ridge's obsession with Brooke but she would not tolerate it affecting their children. Ridge told his wife he had sacrificed a great deal for his family. Taylor resented being considered a sacrifice, threw her napkin at Ridge (that's the second time Taylor has thrown the cloth during this lunch) and stormed off. Brooke could not believe the sight and urged Thorne to comfort his brother. Thorne offered an ear to Ridge but Ridge said it was Thorne's fault Taylor was so upset. Ridge had come to Venice to end his relationship with Brooke and Taylor resented it. Ridge left in a huff as Brooke continued to stare.

In their hotel room, Thorne told Brooke the reason Ridge and Taylor were fighting. They agreed the couple would patch things up even as they heard their raised voiced in the next room. Thorne left to see Guido (who?) about some lace. After Thorne was gone, Brooke heard Taylor throw Ridge out of their hotel room.

Brooke relaxed in a silky, red robe and sipped champagne on her bed. Ridge knocked on the door and came in looking for Taylor. Brooke insisted she wasn't hiding in the room. Ridge said he loved his wife but was sick of her throwing his past relationship with Brooke in his face. Ridge admitted to Brooke he had come to Venice to destroy her relationship with Thorne. Brooke said she thought Ridge should know Thorne had proposed to her and she had accepted. Brooke was certain Ridge could patch things up with Taylor. Ridge said there was nothing left to talk about. He related that Taylor was planning to leave him! Brooke was dumbfounded.

I see a little man in a white suit ringing a bell and proclaiming "The plan! The plan!"

Episode Date: Monday, January 17, 2000

Tawny backed Becky against the parapet of the bell tower. Becky said she didn't want to screw up Amber's marriage, she just wanted to see her son. Becky showed her aunt the small teddy bear she had brought for Little Eric. Tawny was unimpressed, grabbed the toy and tossed it over the side of the tower to the ground far, far below. (A sort of veiled threat, I think.) Tawny said Brooke and Kimberly would both become suspicious if Becky showed up on Rick and Amber's honeymoon, uninvited with a gift for Little Eric. Becky suggested they set up a private meeting. Tawny said she knew this would happen. The photographs weren't enough for Becky, she now wanted to see the baby. Tawny told her niece the obsession had to stop. Becky agreed to leave Venice, not because Tawny told her to, but because she knew it was best for her son. Tawny told Becky she had chosen wisely.

Back at the hotel, Amber and Rick waited for Tawny to return. The trailer-trash mom showed up just in time to take care of Little Eric while Rick and Amber left for a romantic gondola ride. When the young couple left, Tawny smiled with self-satisfaction and said she had taken care of Becky. "She's gone. This time for good."

Not so fast, Missy! As Rick and Amber boarded their chartered gondola (and Amber chirped on and on about how wonderful it was) Becky chased after them but they took off too fast. (Their gondolier must have eaten a lot of Wheaties for breakfast.) Becky said she had to see her son. Amber would understand.

Thorne met Gudio, the lace distributor, in the hotel bar. They ooh-ed and ahh-ed over lace. Gudio thought it would be perfect for the Brooke's Bedroom line. Thorne looked out into the lobby and saw Taylor toting her suitcases toward the door. Thorne rushed to intercept her and asked where she was going. Taylor snapped that she was obviously leaving. Thorne asked her why. Taylor said it was obvious that Ridge still had a thing for Brooke. Thorne pooh-poohed the idea but Taylor told her brother-in-law to wake up and smell the coffee. She suggested he get out of his relationship with Brooke before he had a home, three beautiful children…..Taylor could not continue as she broke into sobs. (I'll have to say she was almost convincing.)

Back in Brooke's hotel room, Brooke told Ridge to talk to Taylor. She would surely understand. Ridge said that Taylor understood far too well already. Taylor knew Ridge better than he knew himself. Brooke told Ridge not to say such things to her. This whole problem with Taylor would blow over. Ridge said that he loved Taylor and she was a great woman. She certainly deserved better than him. Taylor could not deal with his feelings for Brooke. Brooke said Ridge's residual feelings for her were irrelevant. Brooke had seen Ridge at Taylor's bedside praying for her recovery and the health of the children. Ridge said he had done those things but Taylor wanted to be put first. He wasn't sure he could live up to his promise. Brooke encouraged Ridge to tell his wife she was wrong about the continued attraction between him and Brooke.

Ridge said he could not do that because he thought Taylor was probably correct! Brooke stared in disbelief.

Gee, Ridge, shouldn't you be putting Eric's plan into action? Oh wait a minute, perhaps you have.

Episode Date: Tuesday, January 18, 2000

Tawny stayed with Little Eric and told him it was a good thing she had seen Becky before she had talked to Amber. Tawny promised her grandson she wouldn't let anyone take him away from the Forrester family.

Meanwhile, Rick and Amber took their romantic gondola ride. Becky chased after them and walked over a bridge just after the gondola passed beneath. (That's just ridiculous! There is no way Becky could run through the winding streets of Venice and follow her cousin's gondola along a canal.) Rick told Amber he liked it when she was happy and relaxed. They agreed she was always happy when she was around Little Eric. Their son had the best qualities of each of them. Rick said it was worth all the hard work of being in school, working and being a father when he looked at his son. Amber told Rick she loved being in Venice, but she could be happy anywhere with her husband and son. She told Rick she was so happy all their problems were now behind them. With those words, Amber looked ahead and saw Becky on the bridge they were about to pass. Luckily, Rick was looking the other way. He did not see Becky or Amber's eyes pop out of her head.

Back at the hotel lobby, Taylor told Thorne that Ridge had never stopped loving Brooke. Thorne admitted that might be true, but Brooke was definitely over Ridge. She had learned what an unhealthy relationship that had been.. Taylor told her brother-in-law that he would have to learn the truth for himself. Taylor insisted she was leaving Venice to return home to her children. Thorne offered to take her to the airport. Taylor said she had already called a taxi. (How's that? A water taxi perhaps….) After Taylor lugged her suitcases off the set, Thorne cut his meeting with Guido, the lace guy, short and telephoned Ridge's room. Hmmm, there was no answer.

Rick and Amber returned to the hotel lobby. Amber told Rick she wanted to buy some postcards in the gift shop. She sent him off to their room and she walked across the lobby to meet Becky. Amber immediately asked Becky why she was in Venice. Becky opened her mouth a couple of times, but no words came out.

Upstairs in her hotel room, Brooke insisted to Ridge that Taylor was not right about the two of them. Ridge countered that Taylor was a psychiatrist - and a good one (well, let's not get carried away, shall we?) Taylor saw the truth of Brooke and Ridge's denial. Brooke protested that she was not in denial. She was in love with Thorne. Brooke said they had both moved on. Ridge was not so sure.

Ridge explained that he loved Taylor too much to keep breaking the promises he had made to her. Taylor wanted all of him and Ridge told Brooke he could not give that to Taylor. Ridge graphically explained that if he could rip Brooke out of his heart, he would certainly do it. (My, that's a pretty picture.) Ridge said there was a spark between the him and Brooke. It was taking place at that very moment and it scared both of them. Ridge said that Thorne would eventually figure out there was no way to keep Ridge and Brooke apart. (He's obviously not a good psychiatrist like Taylor.) Ridge told Brooke to tell him she did not feel anything for him and he would leave her alone.

Brooke rejected Ridge's caress and said they could not pick up where they had left off. It had taken her a long time to get over him. Brooke said her future was with Thorne. She needed a man who could give her his whole heart. Thorne was the man for her. Ridge reminded Brooke of the time he proposed to her on a previous trip to Italy. Ridge moved in close to Brooke and fondled her face.

"How can you deny your feelings for me, Brooke?" Ridge quizzed. "We can't resist it."

"Please let me go" Brooke begged.

"You'll never be happy with Thorne. You'll just break his heart." Ridge countered as he gently pushed Brooke on the bed. (This is just like a Harlequin Romance novel.) "You want me" he continued.

"No, I don't. Please stop" Brooke whispered. But Ridge didn't stop and gently kissed her. Brooke half-heartedly responded.

And what do you think happened then? Thorne returned to the room. He opened the door. Brooke and Ridge didn't hear him. Thorne saw Ridge and Brooke on the bed. Thorne saw his brother kissing his fiancée. Thorne quietly closed the door and cringed in the hall. He was devastated.

You know, that couldn't have happened any better if Ridge had planned…… hey wait a minute! Could this be part of Eric's plan? Gee, I don't know.

Episode Date: Wednesday, January 19, 2000

Tawny continued to baby-sit for Little Eric and told him that "cousin" Becky was long gone. Rick returned and told his mother-in-law that Amber had stopped to buy postcards. He related what a fantastic time he and Amber had on their gondola ride. Tawny was pleased how happy her daughter was.

Meanwhile, in the hotel bar, Amber asked Becky why she had come to Venice. Becky insisted she was not there to cause any trouble. She only wanted to see her son. Amber said she could not risk having anyone see Becky with the baby. She feared Becky would not be able to control her emotions. Becky had to return to Paris immediately. Becky begged for just a little time with Little Eric. Amber continued to resist saying it was her honeymoon. There was just no way to explain Becky's presence to Rick. Becky took Amber on a guilt trip and asked her if it was too much to ask to see her son while they happened to be in Europe. Amber gave in and said she'd try to get rid of Rick. As luck would have it, they saw Rick leave the hotel at that very minute. Amber and Becky went upstairs.

Amber went into her room and told her mother she needed some time alone. Tawny was suspicious of Amber's mood, but agreed to leave. Becky, who had been hiding behind a potted plant in the hall, knocked on the door and entered. Becky walked to the crib and picked up her son. As predicted, she cried. Amber was very nervous with the entire procedure.

Down the hall in Brooke's room, all hell was breaking loose. On the bed, Ridge continued to make out with a somewhat unwilling Brooke. Ridge insisted she had been looking for something that Thorne could not provide for her. Brooke said what they were doing was wrong and she was confused. Ridge nuzzled her neck as Brooke sat upright in bed at the sight of Taylor at the door!

Brooke told Taylor the scene she had witnessed was not what it appeared to be. Nothing had happened between her and Ridge. Brooke did not want to get caught in the middle of Ridge and Taylor's marital problems. Taylor told Ridge he had some explaining to do. Brooke suggested they should take it into their own room. Taylor told Brooke that Taylor and Ridge's relationship was not the issue. What had happened between Ridge and Brooke implied Brooke was not over Ridge at all. Taylor also said there was more going on than Brooke knew. Ridge said they had tried everything they could think of to convince Thorne and Brooke to end their relationship for Stephanie's sake. Brooke grew wide-eyed as she started to realize what had just happened. Taylor said they had to prove to Brooke that her romance with Thorne was transference. She was really still in love with Ridge. (Hey, wait just a dog-gone minute. I thought it was folie a deux. Now you're telling us it's transference. Which one is it?)

Brooke asked Ridge if what had just happened between them was all an act. Ridge said she had not given him any choice. He had to do it to save his mother's life. Brooke could not believe Ridge had treated her like a "cheap slut!"! His actions had only made her love Thorne all the more. Brooke told Ridge she hated him and that he was vile and disgusting. Ridge insisted that the feelings had been real for Brooke. Fed up with his devious plan, Brooke raised her hand to slap Ridge's face but was stopped by Taylor. Taylor told Brooke it was very real for Thorne, too. He had seen the entire drama unfold! (How does Taylor know that?) Brooke was not happy to hear that bit of news.

Thorne wasn't in such good shape either. He ran around the streets of Venice (oddly deserted at this point), stumbling, running into walls, hanging onto fences and gates - you know, just generally having a hard time of it. Thorne ended up by the water (not hard to do in Venice) and leaned against a lamp post screaming "No! Brooke!" as he crumbled to the ground in tears.

Now wait. Do I understand correctly? Ridge really doesn't have feelings for Brooke? Taylor really wasn't mad at him? This was an act? That's a surprising plot twist isn't it? Didn't see that coming a mile away, did I?

Episode Date: Thursday, January 20, 2000

In the Venetian hotel, Becky apologized for breaking down as she held Little Eric. As Becky looked at her son, she reminded him of his calling her "mama" on the telephone. Amber grew suspicious and asked when Becky had spoken to the baby on the phone. Becky covered by saying she must have heard Little Eric talking in the background while she was speaking to Amber. As Becky obsessed over her son, Amber got worried and said Rick would be back soon and Becky should leave. Becky ignored Amber's request and told Little Eric she thought about him all the time. Amber was insistent and strongly urged Becky to hand over the baby. Becky ignored her. "Give me the baby, Becky" Amber ordered. Becky looked at her cousin and told her she couldn't do that! Amber freaked like a turkey at Thanksgiving.

At the Forrester mansion in Los Angeles, Eric talked about the new spring fashion line but noticed Stephanie was distracted. He told his wife she had seemed withdrawn since Sally's visit. Stephanie said she was upset she had not figured out the truth and that Eric was protecting her. She feared Brooke and Thorne were together in Venice. Stephanie asked Eric if there was a romance between their younger son and Miss Logan. Eric said there was no romance! Stephanie explained she did not think she could take it if "that woman" infiltrated her family one more time. Eric told her she had nothing to worry about as they embraced.

In perhaps one of the shortest scenes I've ever watched on The Bold and the Beautiful, Rick and Kimberly sat in the Venetian version of Insomnia. Of course, Kimberly was crying (almost every character shed a tear or two today). Kimberly had been sure something good would happen for her and Rick on this vacation. Rick told her there Amber had no secret and the mystery hunt was over. They had to go on. Kimberly noted that Rick would have to learn to love Amber and she (Kimberly) would have to learn not to love Rick.

Back in Brooke's hotel room, Taylor said she had never liked the Eric and Ridge's plan to break up Thorne and Brooke, but she had to admit that given the slightest chance, Brooke had indeed run back to Ridge. Taylor then encouraged Brooke to vent her anger at them. (Boy, did she ever take Taylor up on that offer.) Brooke first told Taylor to "shut up." Brooke then asked if this was the kind of technique she had learned in medical school. (Ouch, that one really hurt!) Brooke wondered if the plan had been Taylor's sick attempt at revenge against her since Ridge still loved Brooke. But there was no need to worry, the very thought of Ridge touching her ever again made Brooke physically sick. Taylor said she wasn't happy that Brooke had gotten hurt. Ridge said Brooke had given him no choice but to be devious. Brooke retaliated that Ridge could have believed in her and trusted her. Instead he had played on her vulnerabilities and said words Brooke had longed to hear for years. Brooke admitted she may have faltered for a second but she did truly love Thorne. Brooke told the duo she never wanted to see them again. She ordered them out of her room and sobbed uncontrollably.

After that nasty scene with Brooke, Ridge called his father and told him that the plan had worked. Brooke and Thorne's affair was over. Eric apologized for making his son perform such an unpleasant task, but was happy to hear the news.

Meanwhile, Thorne continued to wander aimlessly along the (strangely) empty streets of Venice. He came upon the Ponte di Rialto where he proposed to Brooke. He remembered her vows of love and cursed her for still being in love with Ridge. Thorne then meandered across the bridge (completely empty of other pedestrians) lost in his pain. Strangely enough, Brooke also took to wandering the streets. She also approached the Ponte di Rialto and followed Thorne's exact footsteps but did not see him. The lovers stood at opposite ends of the bridge bemoaning what fate had dealt them. (The bridge was again empty of all people until Brooke reached the top and turned around. Between the shops, the camera showed throngs of fans and tourists being held back until the filming was over. You know that The Bold and the Beautiful is the number one imported American television show in Italy. Those Italians have great taste.)

Episode Date: Friday, January 21, 2000

At Spectra Fashions, Adam asked Sally if Kimberly had called. Sally said his daughter had just phoned but there was no news on what secret Amber might be hiding. Adam was not pleased that Kimberly was still hunting for a way to be with Rick. Clarke asked Sally if she had any ideas about the mystery. Sally explained that Kimberly thought it had something to do with Rick and Amber's baby. Adam grew agitated and left the office, wishing his daughter would stop pining away for Rick Forrester and come home where she belonged.

At the hotel in Venice, Becky refused to hand Little Eric back to Amber. Becky told her cousin that Suzanne, her friend at work, had been correct. It was obvious that Little Eric needed her and Becky needed her baby, too. Amber was like a deer caught in the headlights, grasping for reasons Becky could not raise the baby on her own. Amber pointed out how much Becky had grown in her new job and new city. A child would only complicate her life. Amber also pointed out that a baby needed to be raised by two parents under the same roof. Becky told her cousin she suspected Rick was only in the marriage because of Little Eric. Amber replied that she and Rick were getting closer each and every day. Becky said she was happy for Amber and Rick and they could now have their own baby, but Little Eric was hers!

Amber corrected her cousin. "He is my baby and I would die before I let him go. You cannot have my baby" Amber swore as she and Becky had a stare down.

Out on St. Mark's Square, Giovanni organized a photo shoot. He talked to Kimberly and worried that she was not in the proper mood for the task at hand. Gio told the young model that Rick was a fool not to be with her. Kimberly retorted that she was the fool for loving a man she could not have. She promised Giovanni that she was a professional and she would pull it together for the modeling assignment.

Boy oh Boy! Kimberly did indeed pull it together. To the pulsing rhythm of Miss Christina Aguilera belting out "Genie In a Bottle", Kimberly modeled not one, but two (!) outfits for the camera. Where did she find the energy for all that work? I'm sure we'll never know. The shoot was going swimmingly until Kimberly spotted Rick in the crowd of onlookers. She stopped the proceedings and told Giovanni that was enough for the day. She was tired. (Poor baby.)

Later, Giovanni and Kimberly went to a restaurant where Kimberly wanted skim milk in her coffee. Gio laughed that Italians would never drink coffee like that, but he would attempt to find her some. While the photographer was away, Rick entered and told Kimberly she had been "awesome" at the photo shoot. Kimberly acted somewhat coolly to Rick. He begged her not to treat him that way. He acknowledged they had both been disappointed by the way things had turned out in Venice. Giovanni returned to the table with Kimberly's skim milk cappuccino. He wasn't happy to see Rick there upsetting Kimberly. To stop their bickering, Kimberly announced that today had been her last modeling gig. She was quitting her job and returning to the United States that night. Giovanni was so upset he left he table. Rick told Kimberly he would not let her leave. Kimberly said she had hoped it would be different, but she had to distance herself from Rick. It was the only way she would be able to get over him.

Episode Date: Monday, January 24, 2000

Ridge and Taylor boarded a plane to return to Los Angeles. Once airborne, Ridge expressed how upset he was about their actions. Taylor comforted Ridge by saying they had done what they had to do. Their devious plan had proved that Brooke was indeed still vulnerable to Ridge. Taylor said that once Ridge had pretended his marriage to Taylor was over, Brooke jumped at the chance to have him. When Ridge didn't confirm her hypothesis immediately, Taylor questioned her husband if that was what had really happened. Ridge said he was uncertain of Brooke's emotions. Taylor said it didn't matter. Brooke was obviously still hung up on Ridge and Eric's plan had saved Stephanie's life. Ridge was indeed glad about that.

Back in Venice, Thorne returned to his room to mope. A bellhop delivered a message from "his fiancée" with a phone number to call. Thorne screamed that he never wanted to see Brooke again, ripped up the message and stormed from the room. He then wandered the streets of Venice in the pouring rain without an umbrella. (I'm not sure that was such a good idea. It is cold and flu season, you know.) Thorne stopped on a bridge and gazed into the canal below as he remembered the great times he had with Brooke. (Those great times consisted of kissing after sex on the beach and the trip to Venice. I'm not sure those two events constitute enough memories to get all that upset about. And have you ever noticed that when soap opera character remembers past events, he/she sees themselves as well. They view the memory as we saw it, not through their own eyes. Just a thought.) Anyway, Thorne pulled himself from his reverie and cursed that Brooke had never loved him. She would always love Ridge. Suddenly, a well manicured hand touched his shoulder. Thorne wheeled around and was shocked to see someone. Who, oh who, could it be?

At some nondescript Venetian restaurant, Rick told Kimberly told he didn't want their relationship to end that way. Kimberly told her beau that he needed to be away from her so he could concentrate on his commitment to his wife and son. Rick pointed out that she had always known he was committed to his family. Kimberly agreed but she had hoped to discover a secret Amber was hiding. She admitted she was wrong and she now had to step aside. Kimberly was holding him back and they had to make a clean break. Rick feared that the feelings would still not go away. Rick sadly thought of what might have been between them if only he and Amber had not gotten pregnant.

"It's over. Accept it" Kimberly gently urged.

"How can it be over when it never began?" Rick asked. With those words, Kimberly softly kissed Rick and told him goodbye. She left the restaurant as Rick watched her go. You know, that is really so sad.

Back at the hotel, Amber told Becky to give her the baby. She reminded her cousin she had been raising the child as her own for a year. It was too late to take him back. Little Eric had bonded with Amber and Rick. If Becky took the infant, Amber's family would be doomed. Becky told Amber that Rick wouldn't leave if he truly loved her. Amber feared he would certainly dump her if he knew she had been lying all the time about their child. Becky said the truth would have to come out someday. They could not lie to Little Eric forever. To learn the truth later in life would certainly destroy him. Becky was sorry, but Amber's marriage was not her responsibility. Amber reminded her cousin she had given the baby up for adoption. Becky thanked Amber for taking him because without her, Becky would not have this second chance with her son. Becky thought it best if she left with Little Eric before Rick got back to the hotel room. Becky told Amber she would be happier in the long run because she would not have a secret hanging over her head any longer. Becky told her cousin Little Eric would always love Amber because she had kept him in the family. Amber cried buckets as she wailed how much she loved the little boy.

That was really, really sad, too - you know?

Episode Date: Tuesday, January 25, 2000

Note: The scenes preceding the opening billboard in today's episode were pre-empted in New York City because of a news update on a snow storm. Don't these television stations have any sense of priority? I mean which is more important: a paralyzing blizzard that threatened to cripple the largest city in the world or discovering who touched Thorne's shoulder on that bridge in Venice? I think we all know the correct answer. I ask my dear reader's to excuse a slight lapse in continuity.

It turned out to be Macy that approached Thorne on the bridge. (At least she had the good sense to carry an umbrella.) She told her ex-fiancée that she could not hate him for what he had done. Macy also made it clear that she had not come to Venice to try and get him back. She realized it was over for them. She explained that she cared about him and had to tell him that she knew Brooke would hurt him. Thorne was stunned to realize how much Macy cared about him. She warned him of Brooke's obsession with Ridge. Macy reminded Thorne of the number of men Brooke had dumped to get back with Ridge. She asked how Thorne could believe Brooke's vows of love. Thorne replied that Brooke was very convincing. Thorne did not tell Macy of his belief that Brooke had already run back to his brother. Thorne seemed more amazed that Macy had gone to such lengths to show her concern.

"I know I'm wasting my breath. (When Brooke breaks your heart), I hope you remember that there were people who loved you and cared about you" Macy gently said as she walked off the bridge and left Thorne standing alone in the rain. Ouch, Thorne, you must really be smarting now.

I don't know how, but Tawny ended up in Amber's hotel room. She was incensed that Becky was still in Venice. Tawny tried to get Becky to leave because she knew Rick was returning to the room soon. Tawny accused Becky of not caring for Little Eric's future welfare. The two argued but Amber asked them both to leave the room because she needed to talk to Rick alone. Tawny did not like the sound of what her daughter was saying but agreed so Rick would not see Becky.

After they were gone, Rick came into the room. He found Amber crying and standing over Little Eric in his crib. He asked if there was a problem. Amber looked at her husband and told him she had never known there were people like him in the world and she knew she didn't deserve him. Rick protested but Amber said it was the truth. Amber asked what would have happened to them if there was no baby. Would she still be a part of his life? Rick admitted he did not know the answer and suspected his wife was feeling insecure again. Rick said he did not regret his decision of marrying Amber and having the baby. He did not want to talk about it anymore. He reminded Amber they were on their honeymoon.

Amber screamed that she couldn't do "this" anymore. She told Rick she was having a great time in Venice and wished it could last forever. Amber then cryptically asked what Rick would remember about her. Rick expressed concern that Amber was acting strangely and asked if she was sick. Amber told him she was not ill and requested he not be so nice to her. His goodness made it all the harder to do what she had to do. She told him to remember that she loved him and the baby more than anything in the world. All the mistakes she had made were because she cared so much. Frustrated, Rick insisted Amber tell him what was wrong.

"OK. I'll tell you everything" Amber sighed.

EVERYTHING?!? She's going to tell him everything? This, I can't wait to see. (While she's explaining EVERYTHING, I hope she also tells us all why The Golden Girls was such a funny show but the spin off, Golden Palace, without Miss Bea Arthur stunk to high heaven.)

Episode Date: Wednesday, January 26, 2000

In the lobby of the hotel in Venice, Tawny wanted to know what scheme Becky was cooking up. Becky told her aunt that Tawny had forced Amber to base her entire life on lies. Tawny instructed Becky not to criticize her because Becky was obviously there to ruin Little Eric's life. Tawny thought Becky should be grateful. Becky admitted she was thankful to Amber because she had loved Becky's son so much. Becky sassed that Tawny was only interested in limousines and swimming pools (didn't she mean swimming pools, movie stars….). Unfortunately, Amber was miserable in the life she had made with lies. Tawny thought Becky was there to blackmail Amber. Becky said she didn't want their money. She wanted her son and she planned to take him back to Paris with her. Tawny raised her eyebrows way up high at that comment.

Upstairs Brooke was in her room talking to the front desk. She was disappointed to learn that Thorne was gone. Brooke vowed to return to Los Angeles, find Thorne and explain what had happened. She was confidant he truly loved her. Kimberly showed up and asked if arrangements had been made for her to take an earlier flight back to the United States. Brooke informed the young model that she would be accompanying her back home. As Brooke packed her suitcase (I hope all those delicates were treated with BeLieF), she said she knew Kimberly had hoped to get together with Rick on this trip. Kimberly replied she had been stupid to wish for the impossible. It was clear that Rick would never leave Amber (don't bet the farm on that one, Kimmy.) Brooke told the teen it was clear that Rick loved her. Kimberly believed that but said Rick loved his little boy more. Kimberly gave in and said they would probably never discover Amber's secret. Kimberly knew she could not spend her life waiting for Rick to leave Amber. Brooke hugged Kimberly to comfort her.

Across the hall in Rick and Amber's room, Amber had admitted she was upset about something that had happened - but it happened a long time ago. It happened the night their son was born. Rick inquired why she hadn't told him before now. Amber said she had wanted to tell him immediately but she was messed up and needed Rick's love so badly. Amber said she thought about the event every day. Rick told Amber that he was her husband and she had to trust that he would be able to help her.

With the aid of some harrowing flashback scenes, Amber recounted how she had fled to Furnace Creek to her mother's trailer to have the baby. She remembered how Rick had come looking for her and how she had sent him away. Rick said he knew she was afraid the baby might be Raymond's and had to discover the truth by herself. Rick said they didn't need to go over it all again. They agreed Rick should have been there for the birth, but what was past was past.

Amber told him there was more to the story. She recounted the storm and the lack of electricity. She said she had not minded the pain of birth when they learned the baby was indeed Rick's son - but something was wrong with the baby. He wasn't breathing. Rick thought he now understood. Amber had a horrible experience thinking the worst until Little Eric started breathing. He knew how bad it must have been for her. Rick was grateful the midwife had been there to save the baby.

Amber cried as she said they had not been able to save the baby. He would not breathe. Rick asked how they had saved the baby because obviously Little Eric was there with them at that very moment. Amber said they did not save the baby's life. Rick was confused. He demanded to know what had happened.

I have to admit my eyes welled up when I re-watched the scenes of Amber desperately trying to save her baby.

Becky and Tawny continued their conversation in the hotel bar. Becky informed her aunt that Amber had agreed the best thing for Little Eric was for him to live with Becky in Paris. Tawny thought Becky was trying to upset her so she would cause a scene in front of Rick and make him suspicious. Becky suggested Tawny get while the getting was good because Rick was going to be very angry when he learned of the lies Tawny and Amber had told. Tawny accused Becky of living in a dream world. She insisted Amber had only agreed to Becky's request in order to get rid of her. Becky replied that Tawny would not be living in her "dream world" much longer.

As Kimberly packed to return to Los Angeles, she scolded herself for getting her hopes up and for dreaming of what might have been. She then had a little dream sequence of touring Venice with Rick to the strains of "Could've Been." (If I'm not mistaken, that was recorded back in the 80's by Tiffany. Talk about your acid flashbacks) Kimberly cried (from the bad music?) and told herself she had to find a way to forget Rick. Well how lucky that Giovanni knocked on the door at that very moment. Kimberly told him she needed to go home now because she was feeling vulnerable. Gio told her she'd only become bitter from feeling sorry for herself. He was going to make her stay in Venice and take care of her. "Tonight, you're mine" Giovanni sweetly said as he hugged Kimberly. (Now what exactly did he mean by that?)

In another hotel room, Rick apologized for getting excited but he wanted to know how Amber saved their baby. Amber admitted it was too late. "Our son…he…he died. He didn't make it" Amber cried. Rick asked what Amber was thinking because obviously Little Eric was right there in the crib, alive and well. "He isn't our son. Little Eric died in Furnace Creek" Amber continued.

Rick would not believe the truth. He wondered why Amber would say such horrible things. Finally Rick asked who the baby was if it wasn't their son. Amber hysterically explained that she was out of her mind with grief when their baby died. She went to sleep and awoke to find a baby in her mother's trailer. Tawny had insisted the baby needed a mother and Amber needed a baby. Amber wailed that she didn't want to take the baby but her mother made her do it. Rick was speechless. Amber tried to explain her reasoning but let it slip that the baby in the crib was Becky's. Amber then admitted that even though Becky had given the baby up for adoption, she was not aware that Amber had taken him.

Reeling from the news, Rick punched the wall. He asked where his son was. Amber explained she had buried him in the desert. Rick was furious and told Amber to get away from him. He wanted to know how Amber could be so cruel to him for lying about his son all these months. Amber said she never meant to be cruel. She only wanted to build a family with Rick but she could no longer live with the lies. She took responsibility by saying the baby switch was her mother's idea, but Amber had made the decision to carry out the plan on her own.

Rick was beside himself with anger. He told Amber he had given up everything to be the kind of father he never had. He felt like and idiot to have fallen into Amber's web of lies. Amber protested that she truly loved him. Rick told her to "shut up." He didn't think Amber knew what love truly was. At that point, he didn't know why he had ever cared about her at all.

Amber agreed. There was no reason to love her. She had never deserved Rick. Amber said she hated herself and begged her husband to tell her how she could make this horrible mistake up to him.

Oh, Amber, honey. I don't think your leather dominatrix outfit is going to get you out of this mess.

As she prepared to leave her hotel room, Brooke thought about how Thorne had seen her and Ridge on the bed kissing. Brooke knew she had to make Thorne realize his brother had tricked and lied to her. Brooke prayed she could get the situation straightened out.

In Kimberly's hotel room, Giovanni tried to convince the teen to stay in Italy so he could show her around. Kimberly told the photographer she had to return to Los Angeles to her family and school. It was now completely over for her and Rick. He and Amber would never break up because they had a child they both loved. Kimberly thanked Giovanni for his concern and left the hotel. (Giovanni even offered to take her luggage to the airport. He really needs to get a life.)

In the hotel bar, Tawny asked Becky how she could put Amber in such an awkward position. Tawny reminded Becky she had saved her baby from becoming a ward of the state. Becky said she wasn't taking Little Eric. Amber was giving the baby back to his mother. As they talked, they saw Brooke leaving the hotel. Tawny hoped that Ms. Logan would take Kimberly with her. Tawny then told Becky that Becky didn't treat her with respect. Becky agreed and said Tawny had not treated her like with love like a niece. Becky also suggested Amber wouldn't be treating Tawny much like a mother when this whole ordeal was over.

Brooke boarded the plane bound for LA and silently hope she could win Thorne back. When she saw Kimberly in the aisle, Brooke turned her engagement ring around so Kimberly would not see the huge, honking rock in it! Brooke told Kimberly she thought the model might change her mind about leaving Venice. Kimberly assured Brooke there was no hope for her and Rick. Kimberly had been so sure whatever Amber was hiding would come out in Paris and the marriage would be over. Brooke asked if Kimberly had any idea what the secret could be about. Kimberly was sure it had something to do with Little Eric. Kimberly suspected that because Becky was so emotional every time she talked about the baby.

"It was almost as if he was….." Kimberly was going to say Becky acted as if Little Eric was her own son. If The Bold and the Beautiful was a cartoon (you mean it isn't?) a light bulb would have flashed above Kimberly's head. "No, that's too awful. Amber would never to that to Rick…….or would she?" Kimberly wondered.

Back at the hotel, Rick assured Amber there was nothing she could ever do to make this incident up to him. Amber said she didn't tell Rick their baby had died because she was afraid to lose him. She admitted it was horrible. Rick told her it was worse than horrible, it was a crime. It was so low, so evil. He wondered how she could hate him so much. Amber said she truly loved him.

Rick asked what he was supposed to do now? What was he to do with a son that really wasn't his? Amber said it was taken care of. Becky would be taking her son back to Paris. Rick protested that Becky could not take his son back to Paris. Amber gently reminded him that Little Eric was not his son. He was Becky's child. Rick then asked if Amber expected him to give up the child for whom he had sacrificed so much. Rick insisted Little Eric was his son and would be staying with him.

Rick chastised Amber for allowing his family to welcome and love this little baby as their own. Now he would have to tell them it was all one big deceit. "I never believed in the devil but I do now" Rick snarled. "I'm staring at her."

Amber swore she was telling him the total truth now. They had to give Little Eric to Becky because it was the right thing to do. Rick cried that he had spent the last year watching his son grow. He had promised the baby he would always love him and never make him experience the kind of pain Rick had felt growing up in a broken home. Rick never knew how much love he could feel for another human being. There was no way anyone could love Little Eric as much as he did. How could he forget that past year? What was his supposed to do with all the love he had for his son? It would kill him if Becky took the child away.

"You took two children away from me today, Amber. I have nothing because of you" Rick wept. He leaned over Little Eric's crib and cried as he professed his never-ending love to his son.

Note: I freely admit I had tears running down my face during Rick's touching speech of love for Little Eric. I guess I am not as cynical and jaded as I sometimes think I might be. Justin Torkeldson's performance was touching. It's wonderful to be moved by something I've watched for so many years. Thanks to all involved in today's episode of The Bold and the Beautiful.

Episode Date: Monday, January 31, 2000

On the plane bound for Los Angeles, Kimberly asked Brooke what was bothering her. Broke simply said she didn't want to get into it. Kimberly left to wander the plane some more as Brooke recalled Ridge's devious plan to get her into bed and what Thorne must have seen. She also remembered Thorne's marriage proposal. Brooke knew she must save her relationship with the best thing that has ever happened to her (Thorne, not BeLieF). Brooke even called Megan to try and track Thorne down. Kimberly returned to her seat and told Brooke she could not work at Forrester any longer because it would be too painful to be around Rick. Brooke suggested it was not a good idea to give up something one enjoys just to avoid someone. Kimberly agreed with that premise, but asked Brooke if she knew what it was like to care about someone for a long time and finally realize you could never have them. Brooke said she knew very well. (She should have said "Oh, child! Been there, done that!") Kimberly said it would be enough for her to simply know that Rick was happy in his life with his son.

But Rick wasn't too happy back at the hotel in Venice. Amber told her husband she wished she could tell him how sorry she was. Rick said he was sorry, too. He was sorry he had ever met Amber. (Ouch!) Amber said at least he was now free from his commitments. He should be relieved. Rick blew up. He was not relieved. He had loved every minute of caring for his son. He screamed that Amber could not have hurt him more if she had stabbed him through the heart. He yelled that he had fought a war to defend her to his family. She was certainly going to pay now. His family would hate her, but that was nothing compared to how he felt about her. Rick said her hated Amber and never wanted to see her again. He left the room crying as Amber collapsed on the floor in tears.

Well, wouldn't you know that in no time flat Tawny and Becky knocked on the door. Amber let them in and told them that her marriage was over. Becky expressed her sympathy and Amber asked her to take Little Eric into "the other room" (what "other room") so she could speak to her mother alone.

Tawny freaked out when Amber told her she had explained the entire baby switching story to Rick. Tawny insisted Becky was not going to take the baby away from Amber. And if she did, Rick would pay dearly if he ran out on Amber. Tawny figured Rick would come to his senses when he learned the consequences. Amber already knew what her mother's next scheme would be. She would count on Rick doing the honorable thing and not want to drag his family's name through the mud. He would do the right thing and stay married to Amber or agree to a huge divorce settlement. Amber would have none of it. "You are an evil, miserable human being and I am my mother's daughter - just as vicious, just as unprincipled" Amber spit. "I despise you mother, truly despise you."

Tawny said she would forgive Amber her venom because she understood Amber was so upset. Amber continued that the only person she hated more than her mother was herself. She hated what she had done to Rick. She told Tawny she had learned about right and wrong through her marriage and the Forrester family. She intended to return to LA and face the music. Amber then told her mother to leave and never come near her again. Amber instructed Tawny to get on a plane and take it to hell. (I'm not sure they have an airport in Hades. But I do know there's a bus that can take you there. My good friend Jared is the driver on Saturday nights.) Tawny had no choice but to high tail it out of that room.

Meanwhile, Rick cried in the hotel bar as he gazed at a wallet photo of Little Eric. Through the miracle of split screen technology, we were able to see both Amber and Rick moping about at the same time.
