About Viewing Graphics on AOL

If you're using the America Online browser to view this site (or any other page on the Web), you're probably seeing very blurry graphics--photos and text.

In their questionable wisdom, the powers-that-be at AOL have decided for you that you'd rather see pages quickly than see them the way the page designers made them. So, by default, most graphics are compressed when you view them--which makes them appear blurry. To fix this situation, do the following:

Select: >Members (or MY AOL from the toolbar in AOL 4.0) > Preferences > WWW > Web Graphics > Turn off "Compress Graphics."

This whole procedure will take a minute or so. After you've made the change, you'll have to Reload any pages you've already viewed. I could explain why, but you don't really care that much do you?

To reload a page while it's open, hit the Reload button--the circular arrow button near the upper left side of the AOL screen.

If you find that Web pages are taking too long to load, you can always go back and turn the compression feature back on.
